Ds and his friend came into a school event saying that a boy was outsidr tea bagging kids outside.
I did a double take and burst out laughing. Then explained to my friend, the other boys' mom what it meant. my kid pipes up that he tea bags in call of duty all the time. Now I'm wondering what I missed in reviewing the game.
Turns out, while similar in nature to the tea bagging I was thinking of, it is a gaming phase.
The other boy google and turned a bright shade of red and started saying, the gaming one over and over.

When I was about 13 or 14 back in the day when we were pretty naive, I heard someone who called another girl a whore. I had NO idea what it meant. A few days later my mom and I were riding in the car and chatting about school and I mentioned a new girl and said she was a whore. No clue what I was calling her. My mom looked at me and she asked what I called the new girl. I instantly knew it was bad so I said *She's a real horror.* I remember that incident like it was yesterday and learned a valuable lesson that day.

I had to tell my oldest daughter to stop using the phrase "balls deep," as in,"I'm balls deep in love with that new show."
Yeah, not appropriate coming from a young teen. She had no idea what it meant and stopped me about five words into my explanation. "Never mind! I don't want to know what it means! I'll stop saying it!"
Lol

Funnily enough I had a conversation with 2 pupils this week when I overheard them using the phrase 'tea bagging'. They had originally started talking about a project they were doing where they wanted to age the paper. I still don't know for sure if they know the other way the phrase is used (now I'm thinking it could be the gaming expression they thought they were then using!) but all I said was that they needed to be careful with their phrases because sometimes they can be inappropriate without them realising!

I really want teen girls to stop posting on social media "I was balling my eyes out." Girls, I believe the word you are looking for is "bawling". If you are doing the other, you ought not be posting about it on social media.

My 8-year old and I were walking to the shop the other day, and she casually said 'That hill looks fucking fun to ride down with a bike'.
Say what??
'All the kids say it all the time at school' she says, she had NO idea it was a bad word. She just thought it meant something that would be 'very' fun to do. I told her it was a bad word, and that she should never use it. Even with her friends at school.
I am concerned that a whole class of 8-year olds are using this as a normal word to describe things....

When my son was around 8 I heard him refer to someone as "a dick." I asked him what he meant by that and he said they were silly, so I explained that the expression referenced a penis. We went through the whole discussion: why would they call hime a penis? Etc. a few days later, at the dinner table, his father mentioned something about a man he knew, whose name happened to be Dick. My son started giggling, and when my husband asked him why he was laughing, he said, "Daddy, you said a bad word." He then explained to his father what the word Dick meant. My husband asked him how he knew this, and of course he replied, "mommy told me." Yeah. Moms giving instruction on foul language in her off hours.

Is it terrible that I am reading this whole list and just laughing my ass off?
Okay, there have been times I didn't know what something meant and it was awful. There was the time an older kid on the bus called a younger kid a fag and I didn't know what that meant so I called him a fag too. I apologized for that later after I knew better. I have never said that word ever again.
But then there was the one time my friend's 8 year old came over to my house and told us all about the fucking asshole that almost hit them at the intersection. I asked if she knew what a fucking asshole was. She said daddy says it when someone is a bad driver. I said well that's understandable, but do you know those are words that will get you in trouble and are kind of inappropriate? She said no, daddy says it all the time. I said okay and moved on. But laughed about it extensively in private.

I remember when I thought Twit and Twat were interchangeable. They're not. Oh my. I think the funniest part wasn't so much that they used it, but that the one boy googled it to see why we were laughing about it. So he learned the XXX rated version of the term in front of his mother, his friend's mom and dad and his friend's grandparents (who were left blissfully unaware of the term as their daugher (me) was not explaning it to my parents.)

I don't like it when kids say "that's tight." My son started saying it when he was 9, and I had to make him stop.

I'm a gamer and I hear male gamers using the word rape out of context all the time. Teenage boys I kind of give a pass too as they are mainly repeating what they have heard from other teens and more than likely may not have a good understanding. Grown men who use it do not get a pass because they should know better. Drives me crazy.

scrapqueen01 I took my youngest DS head off when he said it, learned it from gaming! I'm all for how language changes over time. But I'm having a hard time with Rape becoming a casual verb. My mother got onto us for saying we were "screwed". Which meant sunk, or messed up, to us- but to her equaled the real deal. Lol, my son has also been telling me this week how "casual" is a gaming word too. Filthy casual.

I got in big trouble for calling my brother a word I thought I had made up. He was kicking me under the table at supper, so I said,"Stop it, you dildo." Immediately, my dad came up out of his chair and sent me to room after telling me to never use that word again. I had no idea what I did wrong or what the word meant (mid 70s-no Internet and I'm positive I hadn't heard it before.)

Wait till you hear a sweet little three year old say "what the fuck!" Parents need to monitor their language in front of their kids. But that's only my opinion.

I remember when my DD2 asked me did I know where her f****** shoes were. I was speechless!! Apparantely one of her classmates earlier in the week had to remove his shoes because he kept kicking other kids and the teacher put away the shoes until it was home time. Well DD2 thought that was a new description for shoes because this little lad ( they were both only 4 are the time) kept asking the teacher all day long " what have you done with my f****** shoes"
It took all my time not to laugh at her when I was trying to explain it really was not a very appropriate word to use and it wasn't a general description for shoes!!

My son was about 4 when I had a group of friends from a single parent group at church over for a Thanksgiving dinner. We had just finished eating dinner and were relaxing a bit and moving into the family room before serving dessert. All the children went into the backyard to run off some energy. I had just put coffee on when I hear my son's voice calling out to another child he was chasing "Come back here, you bastard!" I froze and could feel everyone's eyes on me. I went to my son and kneeled down and said, "Honey, that is a bad word. We don't say that." and he looked at me totally confused and said, "Which word, Mommy?" So I had to repeat it and he said his daddy says it all the time. Did his daddy know it was a bad word? He thought that I should call his daddy right then to let him know it wasn't something "we" said, because he must not know that rule. As soon as our guests left, my son ran for the phone to educate his father.
He repeated another phrase his father used that is so horrible, I won't even type it here. It is that vulgar. I did call his father immediately after hearing my son use that phrase. I reminded him that his son is listening to everything he says and is repeating things. He was really irritated that I just assumed our son picked up a bad word from him. How did I know he didn't hear it from a child on our street or in preschool? I told him the phrase. He got quiet. He knew that little gem was all his. He promised to talk to our son and to watch his mouth going forward. I don't think my son ever repeated that one. At least not in my presence. I'd like to think his father dropped it from his vocabulary too.

Our family of 5 was on vacation in Branson years ago. We were driving around the town with the radio on when my DD1 (about 5 or 6) told me she wanted to listen to the Bastard Boys. We had no clue what she was talking about or how she would know about a group called "bastard."
Later that week I read about or heard about a new group called the "BACKSTREET boys." We then practiced how to say baCK StrEET. She never knew she had said a bad word but I did get a laugh out of it.

I told my teen he had to stop using the word douche bag or any phrase douche related until he could tell me what a douche bag was. He stopped using it...around me at least. I'm 99% sure he looked it up, but there's no way he would have that discussion with me. Lol!

At the beginning of baseball season it became popular at school for the boys (middle school)to say, "Let's go rape some balls" meaning to practice hitting them.
"That's tight" drives me bonkers too.
When I was in 6th grade I came home from school and repeated a phrase I had heard on the playground. I told my mom she was just cranky because she woke up after a wet dream.
