I have a wooden jewelry box my ex gave me over 25 years ago that I've used all these years. It has drawers on one side and a door on the other side that opens to a wheel thing that necklaces hang from. It's really not working well for me. The jewelry that I wear on a regularly has never even been inside of it. I have a couple of little dishes on my dresser that bracelets sit in (I have about 5 Alex and Anis, two Pandoras and just received a Cape Cod bracelet for my birthday). I only have a couple of necklaces I wear pretty often but one is way too long to hang in the jewelery box I have (it's a 28 inch gold chain with a few charms on it). I wear a cross necklace, my wedding set, another ring, and diamond studs almost all the time. I have dangle earrings stored in a way which works pretty well but I don't wear them much. I've been looking at acrylic drawer sets on Amazon. They're advertised as jewelry/cosmetic storage. Anyone use these? I'd love to see pictures of what you use

I use a 12x12 plastic drawer set with ice cube trays inside for earrings. Three trays fit in each drawer. It sits on a shelf in my closet. I have an all my necklaces hanging off a BYGEL rail attached to a clear wall in the closet. I have a mirror hanging above it. I have my bracelets on a trouser hanger but that doesn't work very well. They almost always end up in my earring drawers.

Great ideas...but whatever I do has to sit on my dresser. My closet is full of clothes (I share it with dh).

In a satin lined box that is in my safe. I don't leave out my jewelry as most of it I inherited and is very expensive. I can't wear most costume stuff as I react to the metals, so just the good stuff. The safe is a gun safe, combination lock and unable to move it as it is bolted to the floor. I also have photos or cds and other stuff that my late dd had.

Delta Dawn that is awesome! I don't have a door to use though Our closet has bi-fold aluminum doors and the door to the room itself would be way too out of the way, plus I'm using the back of it for something else! quiltz...my mother's pearls and a beautiful bracelet I own that is quite valuable are in our safe. Most of the other stuff doesn't really need locking up. winogirl...I like that. Dh wants me to get a new wooden box so that may be an option! Thanks!

Mine is similar to the one winogirl posted. The one I have has a single door in the front that opens to reveal all the small drawers. The door covering the drawers has a lock on it, which is what I required when looking for one. Obviously this lock isn't to keep the things inside from being stolen since it could be broken very easily. I wanted it lockable because my niece's daughter gets into EVERYTHING right now and I'm trying to limit the damage. I picked mine up on Craigslist for $40, which was a good deal, I thought. It is a nice deep cherry wood and most of the drawers have the built-in dividers. The back side of the door is where you hang long necklaces. I've only had it for about a month, but it has kept my niece's daughter out of my jewelry so far!

None of my stuff is worth more than $25 so I just store it on that. My rings and stuff either stay on my fingers or hidden in a safe place. Not too safe that I can't find them. I wear mostly junk jewellery as I don't live a glitzy life. One day when I inherit my mom's jewellery I will wear her wedding ring on my right hand. Both parents thought that was a good idea. The rest of it will just go in a safe.

I have this jewelry box from Target. I keep it on a bookshelf, but it would work on top of a dresser, too. That is where I store most of my stuff that I don't wear as often. I would like to replace it eventually because one of the doors doesn't close any more. The magnets fight against each other so I have to shove a book against one side. I keep all of my every day jewelry (a ring, a small bracelet, and 4 pairs of stud earrings) in a small ceramic dish on top of my dresser. I tend to wear the same stuff every day unless it is a special occasion so I like to have it all out and ready to put on after I shower.

I turned the extra bedroom in my house into my closet. The actual closet in that room is my accessory closet. It houses my jewelry and scarves. I have the hanging jewelry bags from The Container Store all down the rod in the closet and then there is a white bookcase that has clear storage cubes from the Container Store that house my big statement necklaces. I have A LOT of jewelry

I also have a wooden one that is similar to the one winogirl posted. Mine is not quite as tall and it's on a swivel stand so it rotates all the way around. It has lined drawers with dividers on one side and a door that opens to hold necklaces like the 2 side doors in winogirl's picture. The other 2 sides have bars across the outside (sort of like a ladder) where I can store tons of earrings by hooking them on the bars. Also, the top "rungs" of the ladder thingie (yes, that IS the technical term for it, thank you very much ) have long ends that stick out on both sides so I can hang extra long necklaces on those at the 4 corners, if that makes any sense. (Might be hard to visualize, sorry.) But it works great and holds a lot. It was a gift from DH several years ago and I just love it!

Thanks for all the ideas and photos! I've been making jewelry on my off time and I really need a functional way to handle all my pretties.

I had the same storage you had OP. Your jewelry box sounds much like mine and mine was also 25-30 years old. It hasn't worked for me for a long time. I kept at my dh to build me something to hang on the back of our bathroom closet door, somewhere where I could see all of my jewelry easily. When he didn't do it right away, I started looking around online and found this (picture below). Mine is pewter colored I think and I bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but it's the same thing. I LOVE it. It works perfectly for me. It really holds a lot and I can see it all at a glance w/o having to shuffle through a bunch of drawers. Plus, nothing gets tangled The metal front is perforated to hang earrings from and then are trays (I don't know if you can really make those out) to set things in that maybe don't hang well. I can't say enough about how much I like this thing. Oh, and you don't need a door to hang it from--you can also mount it on a wall.

I just realized Elannah posted a link to the same thing! It's strange though; I *just* bought mine a few weeks ago at BB&B and it was $20 cheaper than the price her link shows. It couldn't have went up that much, could it have? In two weeks? Oh, and I used my 20% off coupon--don't forget, they take those even after they expire. I used one, no lie that expired in 2007. Why I had one this old I could not tell you.

Mine is also similar to Winogirl's, but cherry wood colored and has legs. It's going on about 25 years now I'd guess. They sold it at Costco/Price Club back in the day.

I put my necklaces on command hooks in my closet after I got tired of knocking over my overflowing jewelry tree. It works great. My closet is overflowing, but they fit nicely in the bits of wall that are otherwise useless. I do the same thing for belts.

Necklaces and bracelets hang from a at in my closet. Link to Anthro m.anthropologie.com/mobile/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=973774#/

I have always struggled with jewelry storage, because I like things put away (love those egg crates, but dh and I share a dresser so I have limited space on top of it to use those), and I like things to have a contemporary look. So many jewelry boxes are very traditional in design. I found this jewelry box from Crate & Barrel, and it is about perfect in terms of my style and what I need in terms of storage. I really like it. When I was shopping for jewelry storage, I found a few potential ideas at The Container Store (acrylic drawers and a modular jewelry box system). I love acrylic storage items but I essentially wanted something where I could keep things out of sight.

I have a box like OP does, and the rest goes in storage in my safe deposit box at the bank.

I don't wear much jewelry, but I wish I did! I just don't know what to buy. I had a lot of necklaces from Kohl's, but had nowhere to store them, so I put them in a tin in the bathroom cabinet. The necklaces all got tangled, and I had a hard time untangling them. So after trying lots of tricks to untangle them, I had to get rid of half of them (inexpensive at least!).
My teen daughters have a key hanger that my husband attached to their "vanity" area in the closet. It's great because it keeps the necklaces from getting tangled and it was cheap.

We have the same armoire, right down to the rose lining. JCPenney? The jewelry I wear regularly (necklaces and rings) is on a holder in the bathroom.
