As a spin off of the if you could spend an hour talking to any one on the hill... if you could ask anyone here a question, what you would ask? I'll start... I would ask akathy how she got started cooking all the wonderful dishes she cooks? What inspires her? Does she love to cook? What is her favorite thing to cook? Her favorite go to dish?

I got married at age 20 and could hardly boil water. Turns out if we wanted to live I had to learn how to cook. Funny how that works

My late DH always patted me on the back after dinner and said, "good supper Honey." Always, whether it turned out or not he was always appreciative of my efforts. Of course that's what inspired me to branch out and try different things.

We traveled a lot and for the first 20 years it was mostly by car. I'd buy community and church type cookbooks as souvenirs and read them like novels to while away the hours on the road.

There's a big Air Force base 10 miles north of here and a Chinese woman whose DH was stationed here started giving cooking classes. I took a series of them about 30 years ago and that inspired me to expand into other cuisines.

A local kitchen store has expanded their store to include a teaching kitchen and they bring in different chefs and others to teach classes. I really enjoy taking them and use them not only to learn different ways of cooking but also as a means for socializing

I've learned that people love being invited over for meals and I show my love for them through cooking I adore cooking and everything involved with it. Meal planning, grocery shopping and I don't even mind doing the dishes. I love to buy the equipment needed to cook and serve meals as well

My favorite thing to cook varies by the day. My favorite go to dish to cook for just me is shrimp fettucine alfredo. I almost always have shrimp in my freezer, parmesan in the fridge and fettucine in the pantry so it's a quick, yummy no brainer when I need it.

Oh yeah, make that 10 because I need to tell you that my late DH was a wonderful man and he did a lot of fabulous things but I don't want anyone to ever think he was perfect. He wasn't and I have no illusions about that. He was just perfect for me.

Make that 9 because I need to tell you that you're invited to my house any time and I'll cook for you. I was reading your replies and thinking "wow! I would love to go over to her house and have her show me how to cook some stuff. " And then just sit at the table and linger and listen to your stories.

I would ask Akathy if I could be her daughter. Something about her feels very maternal and comforting.

Not to contradict one of my favourite Refupeas, but I think this only seems to be the case because the board automatically updates the post count in all posts. I think. I might be wrong ETA this is post 841.

Testing to see if I owe an apology to BarbaraUK This is 842! And so is my previous post. Phew. Now I'm confused!! Yours appears to have updated the number - but all aKathy's posts are showing the same number for total of posts and I've noticed before in threads that if I've done multiple posts in a thread mine haven't increased the number after the first post. *ETA And this second post of mine is showing the same number as the first one, at least to me - 2334

I think all of akathy's or any pea's posts at a particular moment in time show their highest/ latest number. If you are on 2334 on this thread, go to the Happy Birthday thread, for e.g. and post again, that will show as 2335. Then when you come back here to read, all of your posts on this thread will show "2335", which you reached on the Birthday thread. I think. Easy to get confused, particularly where a poster comes back and posts multiple times on a thread. I hope I am right, apologies if I am not helping

I had just noticed that the first post had the same number as the last. So sorry to take your thread off at a tangent anxiousmom.

I'll play! pudgygroundhog, I'd love to know if you ever studied photography and took classes. Or is your talent innate? I really love when you post pictures of your trips. Patter, are your girls identical triplets?

Yes, my girls are identical triplets. Thanks! Last night I was talking to a friend from high school who is an identical triplet, and thinking that if your girls were identical that would make four families I "know." And I hope your daughter gets some relief soon from her back problems -- hugs to you all.

She has a spinal fusion surgery scheduled so looks like we will have surgery no. 3 in 7 months. Ugh! Anyway, here are some photos of them from birth through age 20 if you are interested. triplethescraps.blogspot.com/2014/09/20-years-ago-today.html
