So I made this crockpot chicken taco chili for dinner and served it over a baked potato. It was delicious! (I made it with the homemade taco seasoning, in case that makes a difference.) But I only cook for two people at a time. So I halved the recipe (and still had a TON of leftover chili). But that means using only half a can of black beans, half a can of kidney beans, and half a can of chiles. Can I freeze those next time? Is there a special way to do it, or just dump them in a tupperware container? And then what? Just thaw and use? Do you think I could mix the beans and chiles in one tupperware container? Google seems to indicate yes, I can freeze the beans and then thaw to use... I guess I am mostly wondering if anyone's done it and it's been successful? I don't freezer cook because I don't like how textures and tastes sometimes change, but this seems particularly wasteful of me to only use half of four different cans of stuff.

I freeze them all the time with no problem. If the ratio of chilis to beans is correct I'd just mix them into one container.

Yes!
I've frozen canned chilies many times. My Mom always froze baked beans and they were fine when defrosted.

I would have made the full batch of dinner and frozen that. I guess since I would freeze the finished dish, I would freeze the components. It never really occurred to me though! Lol

Lol Now that you know you like it, I would do as little mama suggests and make a full match and freeze the leftovers. Chilli freezes really well. I think being in a sauce helps so I might even freeze it in the diced tomatoes if you have more on hand.

Half the batch occupied half the crockpot, so full would fill it to the brim, and there is supposed to be some leftover space at the top. But thanks for all the input, everyone! I'm looking forward to trying this recipe again, and the accompanying freezer techniques. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)
