I'm guessing Don sheds the Don Draper identity and all that goes with it. I think there will be a time jump where we'll get to see where people end up. ...or the screen will just cut to black and leave us hanging!

I think Don is going to kill himself. I would love to see as time jump to the 80's. I would love to see what Peggy and Joan would wear!

Help - what happened at the very beginning? I started watching my recording after Game of Thrones, and I think it skipped the first part. It started with Roger and Don's secretary talking... did I miss anything?

Don was racing a car, and the people were saying they thought he was from Detroit and commented about how good he was with cars for some one who didn't have one.

There was also a funny interchange between Roger and Don's secretary.

Completely underwhelmed by the finale. Although I'm sure when I read all the reviews tomorrow I will see all the little nuances that I missed.
Peggy and Stan getting together was by far my favorite part of the show.

So did he do the coke commercial?? I am really glad he did finally seem to find some peace. What did you all think about the finale?

Yeah, that was a little underwhelming. But the part with Peggy and Stan was good. For a minute there I thought Don was going to go off himself, though.

Completely underwhelmed by the finale. Although I'm sure when I read all the reviews tomorrow I will see all the little nuances that I missed. Peggy and Stan getting together was by far my favorite part of the show. I absolutely loved this show up until these last 7 episodes. I hate even saying that. But underwhelmed describes it well for me. I always held Mad Men up there with Breaking Bad as examples of high quality television (different styles of storytelling but both done extremely well.) Breaking Bad hit it out of the park right up to the bitter end. I always gave MW the benefit of the doubt when the early season episodes seemed to be going nowhere, but the issues I had with Mad Men this season (so much time wasted on characters like the waitress instead of developing the characters we care about) didn't pay off for me in the end. I understand the nuances and subtext he was going for, it just could have been better to me. I'll still hold the show among my all-time favorites, but with an asterisk on this last season.

I liked that we saw where the others ended up, although I felt bad for Sally. I hate we didn't get a definitive ending for Don, so I'm just going with he went back to NY and did the Coke commercial.
Oh - the phone call he made to Peggy... he really had a strong attachment to her, it was easy to forget until moments like this.

FYI if you missed it or want to watch again, AMC is repeating it through the night several times.

I'm smiling. I am happy with the way it ended, Don at peace and smiling. He had me worried for a minute there by the phone. Whew. Joan strong and moving on up! Didn't she look stunning in that raspberry dress in the lunch scene with Peggy? Peggy and Stan. I am sooo happy they ended up together! Pete, Trudy and Tammy all back together again for a fresh new start. Roger, mellowed out. So happy with his woman. The unhappy part was the last scene with Betty. So sad. This has been my second favorite series ever. I'm going to miss it but I am happy with the way they wrapped it up.

I think the implication is Don did the coke commercial. I saw the girls in the commercial with the same red ribbons in their braids as the girl at the retreat. I think we're supposed to see that's where he got the inspiration.

I think he totally did the Coke commercial. I think so, too.
I wanted Peggy to partner with Joan, so that they could have a spin-off. They could have taken Stan with them!

I believe Don found peace and returned to work for McCann in NY. When he was on the phone with Peggy and she was urging him to come back, she said "Don't you want to work on Coke?"

So what did the waitress story line have to do with the series? I feel like it wasted a lot of time. Glad Don found himself and did Coke but not happy at all with the episode

So what did the waitress story line have to do with the series? My opinion only, but I saw that storyline as a way of further showing how Don was mentally adrift and trying to latch onto someone who was the complete opposite of what defined his life. Antsy and disillusioned with his spot in life, he was looking for someone he could cling to. Someone who wasn't a part of the whole fancy dollar driven lifestyle he'd been living for so long. Maybe just looking for a break away from his world and the pressures that came along with it. I think he would also have liked to become a 'hero' to her. He knew he had failed so many people in his life that maybe he could try to offset that by helping the waitress heal her own wounds. I don't know. That is just how I saw it.

I loved it, but then again, I drank the Mad Men Koolaid a long time ago!
I saw the ending as showing how Don's transformation and society's transformation were one in the same. That Coke commercial was the first ad campaign where the culture of love and peace were integrated into the mainstream. The stretch between World War II and the 70s, pain and growth, was represented in Don's life and advertising. I had no idea where it was going until the very end, and I was completely satisfied once it came together in the last couple of scenes.
I also loved the individual story lines, and what their future looked like, free from the constraints of the past. Such great characters! They will be missed...

Joan did coke. Don did coke. Here's hoping for a Joan spinoff show!

I like the way it ended. It was always about the evolution of advertising as much as it was about the individual characters. I like that it was sort of a non-ending.

Just finished watching. There were so many things they spent time on these last episodes that really made me mad. But I like that they tied a lot of it up in one sweet package as many predicted they would not. Actually I got teary with the Mad Men *commercial* right before the episode started where they showed clips through the years with the music The Times of Our Lives (?) playing. I'm sad that it is over and I know it's just me but I'm heartbroken that we didn't get just one scene with Don and Betty after he found out. Especially watching the first season this week and how they interacted.
