Have any of you done LSD or another psychedelic type of drug? If so, would you be willing to share about it?
I have never tried it and don't plan to. HOWEVER, I do not feel judgmental about it whatsoever. A close friend of mind, a brilliant woman in her mid to late 50's, mentioned casually to me how she did LSD back in college. For some reason, it sparked a LOT of curiosity in me. I have been reading, watching YouTube and reading some more online about people and their experiences. I find it beyond fascinating...how the mind evidently unlocks in totally new ways. I just find myself wanting to hear more stories - it's so unfamiliar to me - I'm annoyingly "straight" and nerdy. I would love to hear more personal stories.
If you are interested in sharing, thanks in advance!!!!
From my perspective, this is a no judgment zone. Take it away!

I didn't, but I recently saw a video online from back in the 50s of a lady who took lsd for experimental purposes (I think she was the wife of one of the researchers). While she was tripping, the researcher interviewing her asked "Is all one?" And she replied, "All would be one if you weren't here." I'll see if I can find the video. Way, way, way back when I was young I did LSD once and did not like it. Probably a bad trip. The main thing I remember about it was that I thought I had shrunk and was hiding behind one of my teeth. That was enough for me and I never did it again.

When I think of LSD, think of awful things like art linkletter's son or was it daughter who walked off a building while on LSD. I think of my roommate who ended up in the hospital for years and even though she was a math major and has a degree in math, can no longer add a column of numbers. We graduated over 40 years ago. And this experience happened not long after graduation. For me it's just too unpredictable, and a mind is a terrible thing to lose.
But I am nerdy.

Not me. I was always too worried I'd have a bad trip and freak out. The stories I heard from people I know who did take it let me know it's not for me! I'm not into things that alter my perception of reality.

Not me. It was big in my high school and college years but I was way too scared that it might do permanent damage. I also wasn't much good at pot or pills. Then I married a cop and gave up any pretense of being cool.

Nothing crazy just pot a few times when I was younger. BUT I'm always hearing about the crazies in our town tripping out in stuff from my DH. Just a few days ago he came home telling me he was chasing a naked woman down the street because she was trying to chop her breasts off due to being on bath salts.
Another time him and this another went on a call and this guy was on bath salts and freaking out. When DH got there he was in the closet hiding. They open the door and the guy was talking into a shoe to the "CIA" telling the CIA that my DH and his partner was aliens trying to abduct him and take him to their planet. This guy fully believed everything he was saying.

No LSD but plenty of other stuff. I've never snorted or injected, but I've smoked, eaten, swallowed and/or freebased an assortment of drugs in my early-to-mid 20s. Seems like a lifetime ago (I'm 36 now).

A low dose. Enough to skew sensory perception, but not enough to no longer be in control over my thoughts or physical actions. We took it and went to a huge Christmas light display in a park. The kind where you walk the paths and there are lights everywhere. It was enjoyable. The lights had thin hazy halos around them that kind of gently shifted around like glowing colored mist in a light breeze. Voices and music sounded far away and tinny, like it had carried over a distance. That was pretty much it. I knew exactly where I was and exactly what was going on around me. After we got home it wasn't as enjoyable because everything was diffuse and hard to focus on until I went to sleep, then it was over by morning. The friend I went with said that it was a disappointment because he didn't notice much of an effect. He said the lights were sharper and brighter and more vivid. My guess is he saw them as current style LED lights. Which was probably interesting since we didn't have LED lights back then, but nothing terribly special.

not me, but I remember my college boyfriend smoked marijuana once and telling me about how he and his friends were running through town in the middle of the night because they thought people were chasing them. I'm way too much of a control freak to ever do anything like that; paranoia, hallucinations, etc. wouldn't be fun for me at all, I don't think.

I had two friends in high school who did (the one who was really my friend did what the other one said to do). They did acid a "few" times whatever that means and always laugh about how they put make up on while riding the bus and came home looking ridiculous. They also admitted to smoking cocaine. I looked at her when she told me that (let's say 2 years ago and I did a and a and why because of the other friend. She said yes, the other friend got it for her. I guess I was too goody goody to think they would ever do stuff like this. They still drink quite a bit (red wine), the supplier if you will does Rx drugs now. She has a number of ailments that require large doses of long-acting morphine and breakthrough (short acting) and benzodiazepines. She way over shares what her doctor gives her all over Facebook and lets everyone know how sick she is in graphic detail. My question is why? Wouldn't you keep that private??? Her mother and I helped her move a few years ago and "Mom" asked me to drive her car as she was too stoned that day to drive safely. We don't see each other anymore.

So I get the no longer cool thing! I got so much shit over the years for declining to smoke pot with my cousins, but that's not something I ever much enjoyed anyway.

I did quite a few times at Grateful Dead shows. I never had a bad trip, or even anything slightly off putting happen, but I've seen people have less than an enjoyable experience. The only way I can explain the feeling is everything was more intense, in a good way. Colors were brighter, food tasted 1000x better, the music was more powerful and meaningful. I had an overwhelming feeling of peace, love, and happiness. It was fun. Would I do it again now that I have children? No.

I did it a few times my senior year in high school and my freshman year in college. It was always with others and always in a controlled environment. We also knew who we were getting it from, so weren't worried about it being mixed with anything dangerous.
I never had a bad experience. We were a bunch of nerdy, high achieving students who were interested in the mind-altering/opening aspects of it. We'd read stuff by Tom Wolfe, Ken Kesey, Aldous Huxley, etc. and were enamored with the music of several musicians who had known psychedelic habits. We had the common aspirations that hallucinogenics would some how make us more creative. We did a lot of writing and drawing and painting during our trips and upon further reflection, it made those things worse, not better (which was supposed to be the point). There were also a lot of (I'm certain utterly ridiculous) philosophical conversations, especially during the college experiences, because we were all philosophy majors.
I probably did it six or seven times in those two years. That was enough. It got monotonous, plus the guy we knew who made it moved away, and no way were we willing to buy it from "normal" sources. I don't regret the experiences but neither do I have any desire to do it again.
I tried pot a couple times and never liked it. I tried shrooms once and they did nothing. Never did any other kind of drug.
I'm a perfectly responsible, respectable adult now and haven't partaken of any recreational drug for 23 years.
P.S., I don't recommend listening to Pink Floyd's Ummagumma while on acid. "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" will traumatize you temporarily.

I have done it probably at least 20 times? I would describe myself as a nerd as well. I was an honors student all through school, I have a Master's degree and a professional career. I do not have an addictive personality in any way, and have never been "hooked" on anything. However, I have always had a very curious streak to where I enjoyed trying alternative experiences, including some drug experimentation.
I do think people's drug experiences are often affected by their core personalities. I am someone who is very in control of myself, as well as private. No matter how "high" I have been, I have never lost control, or done something crazy that I later regretted. My experiences with acid have almost all been with people that are close to me, where we spent a lot of time in deep discussion, or sharing sensations.
Everyone experiences LSD a little bit differently. For me, there were always strong visuals. Not to where I saw large things that weren't there, but real objects would have lots of swirling movements on the surface, lights have rainbow halos, windows would look like water was running down them, etc. Basically anything that already had texture, would seem to have a moving texture. Clouds were amazing, since they were actually moving. I also experienced some auditory hallucinations, music was very echoey, heard lots of buzzing and clicking sounds. Listening to whole albums is a fantastic aural experience, as well as visual, lots of crazy shapes and colors when I would close my eyes. There was also time dilation for me; it would seem like hours passed, but it would be just a few minutes.
Anyway, most people would be surprised to know this about me- but there are lots of otherwise "normal" people out there who have tried LSD quite a bit.

I did a couple times when I was in my first year of college, so 18 years old. I didn't have bad experiences, but didn't really enjoy it either so just didn't do it after those couple times. I think I was afraid of something bad happening so I didn't just relax and "go with it" or whatever. Now weed on the other hand was my drug of choice in high school and college. I always had fun then. I haven't touched it in 20 years or so now though. I like in Colorado now, so I could if I wanted to. It just seems like a "college" thing to do,to me, and I grew up, got married, had kids and that's that. In fact, last night I was leaving to go out to dinner with 2 girlfriends and as I was heading out the door, my daughter said "You can't have fun, you're a Mom."...Nice. LOL

And no acid...although a lot of my friends dropped routinely. I am not sure why I didn't, but it wasn't something that I was interested in. No real reason though. What is funny to me is I am now the unhippest, uncoolest, middle aged mother to teenage boys that has ever existed. If the younger me could see me the now me, she would wonder what in the ever loving hell happened.

ive done mushrooms twice, once a good trip and once it didnt work. The weirdest thing I have tried was salvia, it was legal at the time and you could buy it over the counter. It only lasts for 30 seconds or less but it made me hallucinate and I "woke up" on the floor with drool coming out of my mouth and peed a little from laughing so hard. NO clue how it was legal, if someone did it while driving they would 100% wreck.

I did both acid and mushrooms in college. For me, LSD was more of a sensory intensifier rather than a hallucinogen, but I found it generally a negative experience because by 3 am or so I was physically exhausted by it and ready for bed, but it was the Energizer Bunny of drugs and took me hours to come down.
Mushrooms for me personally were a lot of fun; again not really a hallucinogen but a sensory intensifier, and caused laughter, lots and lots of laughter. Both drugs for me were better experienced outside rather than inside and mushrooms had the added advantage of being easier to come down off of.
In all honesty, I enjoyed most all my drug experiences EXCEPT cocaine, which to me is evil incarnate. When cocaine started becoming popular, people became grandiose and paranoid, and guns started showing up at parties. At that point, I was outta there with drugs.

My opinion, decades removed, is that it didn't *actually* do anything to open the mind or unlock different ways of thinking. It may feel like it in the moment, but I don't think it's a lasting thing. It *does* lower inhibitions to a degree, so perhaps if you had some mental barriers to certain things, you might be able to push through those more easily while under the influence, but that's not the same as truly thinking differently. I know I wrote about some subjects then that I wouldn't have when not on acid, but the quality of the writing was much worse than my typical writing.

I did acid a couple times in my mid teens. Here's what I can recall
I once thought I was a milk dud with wings and tried to fly down a flight of stairs. Luckily it was the short side of a two flight so it was only like 8 stairs or so. I did not get hurt. While riding in the back of a car, I swore a mailbox grew legs and started chasing up. The flap opened and closed and it was mad and was going to eat us. Each mailbox we passed joined the chase. Everything on MTV in the late 80s, early 90s made so much more sense while tripping. Red Hot Chili Pepper's Give it Away especially. Chasers are cool.
Then my cousin stepped on a nail or something while we were tripping and we swore that it was squirting blood and it was all over everything. That was the last time I dropped.

Oh and Pink Floyd's The Wall was absolutely made for those who are tripping.
