I think our Canadian wedding had Canon in D. I can't remember! It was too stressful to remember!

We didn't have any music that I recall. If there was, it certainly didn't stick with me! But a family member got married to Flight of the Valkyries and O! Fortuna. It was very dramatic. Can you tell it was a theme wedding? Another marched to The Piano Guys instrumental mashup of Love Story and Viva La Vida. I know it sounds strange, but it was perfectly amazing. I'm grateful because that's how I discovered The Piano Guys. Look'em up on Youtube, they are incredibly talented.

The music that Maria walked down the aisle in The Sound of Music. I left out the part that includes How do you solve a problem like Maria, it's a short piece of music so the pianist had to play it over a couple of times.

We're in the process of planning dds wedding now. Her first pick is Moonlight Sonata. Her second is Pergolise's Nina. The string quartet said her selections seem a bit dark. ? Her other selections being played are by Apex Twin. I swear, I may not make it thru this! I was married in a Catholic Church with a full mass. No wedding march was allowed, but I walked to the theme of Romeo and Juliet. I'm not sure how I pulled that one off.

This is what we had. Our church, too, did not allow traditional wedding march. Just curious, why was it not allowed? ? luckyexwife, The priest thought that the opera that the music is from mocks marriage, so it wasn't allowed.

I used Trumpet Voluntary to come into the church and we left to Ode to Joy. I wanted something slightly different since I sing at church weddings and thought something I wasn't used to hearing every few weeks would be a little more memorable to me.
One bride I know walked in to the Sound of Music march, too. That was amazing and since I was in the choir loft, I had that movie moment of watching her walk down the aisle with an aerial view! Very magical.

I listened to a billion different versions of Pachelbel's Canon in D until I found one with just the tempo and sound that I wanted. I was married the day before I got my Bachelor's degree (didn't attend the graduation), so on my last day on campus (the day before the wedding), I dropped off my final paper, rolled down the windows on my car, opened up the sunroof then put that CD in and cranked it up as I tore off campus. I still have the CD and play it on occasion.
My (now) husband and the groomsmen walked to the theme song from Shaft =) ....and we played the theme song from Married with Children as we walked back up the aisle after the ceremony.

I walked in to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring and walked out to Trumpet Voluntary. I'm pretty sure our attendants walked in to Canon in D and Ode to Joy.

I came down the aisle to Storybook Love from The Princess Bride. We departed with Walking on Sunshine. Tradition is not my thing.

I came down the isle to "Praise my Soul the King of Heaven" played on the piano. Can't my life remember what our recessional was. Well, our 30th anniversary will be in July maybe I'll watch our wedding video and check it out.

I got remarried last July to a wonderful man. We got married on his family farm (that he owns...we live here.) When my bridesmaids and daughters (the flower girls) were walking down to the platform my husband built for all of us to stand on, our dj played The Piano Guys instrumental version of "A Thousand Years." My dad and I walked down to Pachelbel's Canon in D, and our recessional was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. We loved our music. We played six marriage/faith based songs before the ceremony while people were being seated (like "When I Say I Do" by Matthew West, "amazing Grace" by Chris Tomlin, "the Marriage Prayer" by John Waller, etc). It was awesome!

The Skye Boat Song played on bagpipes. Was my scottish grandmother's favorite tune and she had recently passed, so it was a small way to include her. In fact both DH's and my grandparents had all passed, so we had photos of them in lovely old frames set on the mantlepiece over the log fire (in the room where the dinner was served).

Another Canon in D here. Such a pretty song. I think we walked out to Vivaldi's Spring.

Processional was Handel's Water Music - hornpipe Recessional was also Handel - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. When I was in university I DJ'd at the school's radio station, and the guy who came on right after me was an old professor who did a classical music show. His theme music that he opened with was the Arrival and I grew to love it after listening to it week after week.

I just got married in March so this is all very fresh in my mind lol. This is a second marriage for both of us - I was previously divorced and DH was a widower - and this song is very meaningful to us. My 10-year-old daughter was my maid of honor and she and I walked down the aisle together to Matt Redman's Never Once. I would share a photo of DD and I walking down the aisle but I was doing the ugly cry.

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Our recessional was Ode to Joy. Both played on the organ. Must have been a popular choice. We had it too.

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Our recessional was Ode to Joy. Both played on the organ. Me too. I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this was mentioned already.. After we got married, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" was in a milk commercial. "Drink milk, love life", so now when I hear it, I don't think wedding, I think calcium.

Sheep May Safely Graze for the walk down the aisle and Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring for our exit. Both were played on classical guitar by a friend.

I didn't have any music! I got married outside at a park, and I was young and broke- so I just walked with my grandfather (who gave me away) to slight applause as the crowd saw me coming down the sidewalk.

Great thread for suggestions since we're trying to figure this part out. I know the Wedding March, Canon in D and Trumpet Voluntary are all no gos but there are some interesting suggestions to check out.

My husband sang a song that was special to us on the way down. On the walk back out we showed the end of the movie Shrek (when they rode off in the onion carraige and then donkey sang I'm a believer) because 1.) That was the first movie we saw together and 2.) I had a lot of kids/students at the wedding. We kept it brief and fun.
