Is it bad? It can be. Would I sub, yes. And I did. I had some good days and one very bad one. It was worth it in the end. You never know. everything is more relaxed, so sometimes that means the kids go nuts and you have to sit on them more. Sometimes, though, it means everyone is more relaxed and you can have some really great interactions with the kids.
Keep in mind I mostly sub Middle School which is by far the hardest level to sub for.

Tomorrow is the districts last day. I subbed in shop class yesterday. Typical teenage boy stuff
Today was 7th grade Language Arts, they wrote letters to the incoming 7th graders. They wanted to know if it was for a grade. Of course I said YES. I think I told one class it was 150 points. Haha. I hope sh reads them in case there is anything inappropriate.

Do you sub in high school? The last two weeks are anything but blowoffs. The students are learning and working at least to finals.

We are just surviving right now. I had a sub today because I had staff development. My team told me the kids were out of control. They are hard for me to control right now, so I'm not surprised.

In the high school, we are generally working up until finals. Or, things wind down early (like my creative writing class where seniors already graduated yesterday and have been done for a week) and we are watching movies/doing relaxed activities. Pretty easy and kids are usually in a good mood.

When I was in HS, in the advanced classes, once we took AP exams (several weeks before the end of school), we were done for the semester. AP MacroEcon is where I watched Monty Python.

In our elementary schools I definitely would. It is more fun, most of the intense lessons are done and everyone is more relaxed. Plus the last 3 days of school are always early release days for us and subs get paid for a full day.

Yes! I love subbing the last two weeks of school. I do almost every year. I subbed both ES and MS the last two weeks this year and love it. At the ES I brought mandala coloring pages, FACEing Math sheets and we also played "Around the World" with flash cards. We pretty much did a lot of educational but fun stuff. At the MS, we watched movies and chatted. It was great! I have a close relationship with the students at the two schools I sub at, so I love it.

Eh I have subbed here and there while woring on my degree, and I enjoy it - espcially the end of the year, because it's usually more fun. Now that I've graaduated and looking for full time I won't be subbing, unless I decide to teach.

Funny, DD watched Monty Python in AP US History last week. I sub elementary and I like the last couple of weeks of school. Kids are happy and teacher's plans usually say something like, "if you have something else you want to do--go for it!" There's an assembly or field day or read-in everyday it seems. I'm subbing on the last day of school this year because the teacher has a 9th grader receiving an award and wants to be there for him, so I'm subbing for a couple of hours until she can get back and say goodbye to her class.

That and Nerd covered jelly beans are what I'm known for.

I'm not a teacher...but the 11th grade boy announced last night at dinner that he was done, done, done. He also informed me that the minute he got whatever acceptance letter he got, he was checking out and having fun. He was kidding of course, he is one of the self-motivated straight A kids, but he definitely wasn't joking about being done about school with this year. I can't imagine how the rest of the school is if a kid like mine has already checked out.
