Being the instant gratification kind of girl that I am, I dashed off to WalMart this evening to buy the Charge. They only had it in small/black. After wearing it for a few hours, I can see that I will be much more comfortable in the large, so I ordered it from Amazon, large/slate where it was also $7.00 cheaper. As the above Peas posted, it was a super easy set up. I like the "tap twice" to show the time feature, which you can customize to show steps, distance, etc. I also like that it will sync with My Fitness Pal...but I haven't set that up yet.

Day 3 with the Fitbit Charge. Here are my observations. 1. It is very motivating. I find that I HAVE to beat the number of steps that I took the day before. 2. It's encouraging me to drink more water. While that doesn't show on the unit itself, it's one of the options on the computer/phone app. 3. The sleep monitor is interesting, but not very accurate. this morning I got up, let the dogs out, went to the bathroom, let the dogs in and crawled back in bed. It registered me as "restless" but not awake. I changed the setting to make it more sensitive to my movements when sleeping. We'll see what happens tonight. 4. It falls off. The first two times it happened, I felt it go. Tonight, I was standing next to my daughter's car and looked down. There it was on the ground. I never felt it pop off. I saw some silicone bands on Amazon for holding it on, and I'm thinking about getting them so I don't lose the darn thing.

Especially when you have some friends and see how many steps they are taking. One of my friends went over 100,000 for a 7-day period. I think she attached it to her dog and told him to run around for a few hours. I've been wearing my Flex for almost 2 months and have never had it fall off. I wonder if the charge has the same clasp. If so, do you feel it *engage* when you put it on?

Yup, You can feel it "snap" when the two clasps lock in. I read the reviews, and it seems a common problem...so much so that other companies are making fasteners to keep them from falling off. Silicone Fasteners for FitBit Charge

Is there one of these that I can use without having a smart phone?

For the FitBit, all you need is a computer that has a USB port. It comes with a dongle...a little device that you plug into your computer to send and receive signal from it.

I have the fitbit one and it syncs to your phone or computer so you don't have to have a smartphone to use it. It also shows you your actual steps, calories burned, flights of stairs and distance on the device for the current day.

I just got a charge a couple weeks ago and really like it. I set my goal to 12,000 steps a day and I am really motivated to add steps to make my goal. My only suggestion to you is to get one that you can see the steps on the actual fitbit. A girl at work got one without the display and it was too much of a pain to check her phone so she returned it.

I've been using a Fitbit for three years. I just recently purchased the Charge HR after my One died. I find it very helpful to have the reports that I get from the Fitbit website showing my heart rate and burn rate throughout my workouts.
I tend to sleep through my alarms so I rely heavily on the vibrate alarm function.

I've had a Fitbit Zip for the past 2 or 3 years and it's all I need. It just keeps track of steps -- no tracking of sleep or flights climbed. I don't think I could stand to wear anything on my wrist 24/7. I clip my Fitbit to my bra and forget it. It's a great motivator. How bulky is the zip when you clip it to your bra? Really don't need anymore padding up there

Great thread. I hadn't really considered getting one until reading all of your responses. Thanks, OP for the original question! I'm surprised though, that they don't have one that looks a little more classy...you know, like a gold watch. I'm in business attire for work, and I'm afraid that silicone looking band looks more like the gym than the office. You can get a very dressy Tory Burch band or necklace for the Flex from the Tory Burch Website. Be warned - they are not inexpensive. And, you have to buy the actual Flex separately. Really don't need anymore padding up there LOL, well I COULD use some padding but the Zip doesn't help, if that tells you anything. I clip it in the center of my bra, and unless I'm wearing something sheer and light colored, you can't tell it's on me.
