Here's why I don't love Aldi and the can't be my

Mine always keeps the regular items stocked, no problems there, but I hate when I find a specialty item I really like and they don't have it next time. For the savings, though, I'll put up with it and make the occasional trip to another store when needed.

Aldi is very, very closely located to another regular grocery store that I frequent. So for me, it's no big deal at all to just hit Aldi first. Buy what they have available, and then finish up at the other store.

It really takes me only a minimal amount of extra time but the savings is worth it for me. But I can certainly see how it would be more of a bother for those who don't have a similar convenient location situation.

It's like a liquidator's outlet - you never know what's going to be there. I hate grocery shopping and want to spend as little time as possible doing it. So no way am I going to 2 stores, so Aldi's is not a store I shop at.

I shopped at Aldi the other week and I was reminded again why I don't like it. To me it's inferior to my favorite grocery store and the savings aren't worth it.

Totally unfair to brag about a store that's only in Texas!  What are the rest of us supposed to do?  

I have found Aldi can be hit or miss.  The staples like bread, flour, etc. are always there, but things do change.  They used to have this awesome cereal - it was their version of Cheerios w/mixed berries.  Completely yummy.  They haven't had it in a really long time.  And I could have sworn that at one time they sold the gallon jugs of white vinegar.  Not any more.  Now, while these aren't staples, they aren't seasonal either, so I'm bummed that they're gone.

While Aldi isn't close to me, my Walmart & local supermarket are w/in 5 minutes, so it's not too bad running to Aldi once or twice a month and then filling in at my regular stores.  

But I agree - you can't go in there assuming they're going to have everything you need.

I've never been in an Aldi's and don't think I'll go based on these comments. I Love love love HEB! But the one closest to me is a nightmare to get to because my city doesn't provide feeder road access to anything. You have turn onto a major road, and then snake your way through a rat-maze of parking lots to get to it. No, thank you. I stick with Kroger because I know where everything is and can get in and out quickly. My time is worth more than money at this point in my life, so I'd rather pay $.50 extra for something but spend less time in a store. LOL!

We don't have Aldi's

Aldi saves our family of 5 (with 3 teenage boys) a lot of money. Ours is always well-stocked with the basic staples. But then again...I guess that depends on what are considered staples in your household. To us, agave is not a staple. Never purchased it in my life!

I get what I can there and get the rest next door at the bigger, more expensive grocery store. I can see where that would be a pain for some people...there are some trips where I just can't waste all the time it takes, either!

I do not have any single store where I can buy everything my family uses.  So some weeks it's Aldi & a local store and some weeks it's 2 local stores, etc.

And one of the stores we frequent is a big store, but it still is missing a few things that we routinely use, so I know shopping will almost always be a 2 store 9or more) gig for me.  We could give up what we like or change it, but for us, the 2 store thing isn't such a big deal that we would be willing to make reducing it to one the biggest priority.

except for in the winter.  because I'm a big baby about driving in the snow.   Then I'll do anything to reduce the food shopping.  I'll let the cupboards look like Mother Hubbard's before I'll grocery shop in the snow.  

I heard on the news this morning that Aldi has been declared the cheapest supermarket in Australia. But I don’t shop there because:

1. They don’t stock the brands that I like
2. They don’t carry a lot of the items that I like, so I end up having to go to another supermarket anyway
3. I HATE not having my groceries bagged – it is too stressful for me trying to keep up with the cashier, I always struggle to try and put them in the trolley as fast as he/she flings them down the line

DSO has applied a self-imposed ban on Aldi. The other day he went in for coffee and came back sans coffee but with a ski jacket. The next day he went back for the coffee and came home with an electric blanket. (Mind you, that’s a lot better than what he comes back with when he’s let loose in Costco!!)

Love my savings at Aldi, but do get frustrated having to go to more than one store. My Aldi doesn't have good enough produce to be my go to store, but we do shop there several times a month for basics. I find their brand to be great in just about everything we have tried.

This! My aldi is brand new and well stocked- totally worth it for the amount I save.

I'm scratching my head about the cockroaches. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one. Not sure what that's about. Lol

We have Aldi stores here but I've never shopped there. None of them are very conveniently located and I'm not about to go out of my way to grocery shop. Most of our groceries are bought at Costco. Maybe once a month or six weeks I go to the regular grocery store because it's right next door to Target and I'm going there anyway. Half the time if I only need a few non-bulk grocery items, I'll just buy them at Target because I'm already there. 90% of the time when I'm shopping I have my kid with me, and having to get her in and out of the car multiple times at multiple stores is more of a PITA than I'm willing to deal with.

None of the Trader Joe stores near me are conveniently located either. Their parking lots are a disaster to navigate and I'm not going to deal with that either!
