I'm still wondering what happened down the street from us a few weeks ago. There was a rescue truck of some sort with lights flashing and a helicopter that flew over our house and landed nearby. can you check the blotter for your area? I did some poking around online, but we're out in the country and I couldn't find anything that gave information about it. It was pitch dark, around 9 or 10 at night, so I couldn't see anything other than flashing lights.

I'm just here to say I had to scroll back up on my phone to see who the OP was because that post read like something anxiousmom would post. Glad to see I wasn't disappointed!

Someone may have passed away and they are awaitibg the coroner or funeral home. This is probably it. When my DH died in his sleep the police, firetruck and ambulance came. No sirens. And yes they are probably waiting for the coroner or funeral home.

My vote is that another neighbor complained that they were mowing the lawn in the wrong direction. And the police showed up to give them a warning. Jen

I live in the world's quietest neighborhood ever. The most exciting things that ever happen is when someone lets their grass get a touch long. That made me chortle. Can't you borrow a baby to walk round the block a few times in a pushchair (stroller)? Could be a terrorist bomb factory, or that spotty Herbert 'wouldn't say boo to a goose' son of theirs could be hacking into the White House computer system. (Hope it is nothing serious!)

Nosy Nancy thinks she needs to know. Nosy NORA, silly. And I'm idly wondering if our international friends have any idea who Mrs. Kravitz is. Come to think of it, I wonder what the age breakdown is for Americans who know who she is...

I rely on my next door neighbor. He ALWAYS knows what is going on in our neighborhood. He is such a huge gossip too! At least I get free surveillance on my home almost 24/7. He sits in his living room watching TV. His window looks out at my door and he will always ask who someone was that came over to visit. If I am not home, he always runs out when I drive up to tell me if anyone happened to come by while I was gone. He even asks what was inside any package I have delivered. I enjoy making up stuff to embarrass him.

It sounds like a medical situation to me, or someone stuck somewhere- still medical. I wouldn't ask unless I was really good friends.. The last time we had cops and an ambulance and firetuck my neighbor had lost her battle with cancer, her dh told us a few times later. So no way would I want to go over if someone could be mouring or was worried about a love one. It may not be what I am thinking at all, but just in case ....

I walked out my side door this past Saturday morning to see a police car in the driveway next door. I headed over, but they were coming out the door before I got there. Turns out in that case it was just a false alarm from their home security system. In a small quiet neighborhood like anxiousmom describes (and like mine), I can't imagine not checking on neighbors. I think I'd have to go ask.

I'd be curious too and taking the dog for a very slow walk. This happened a few times with our across the street neighbor. His wife had Sundowner's and went through a period were she would call 911 very agitated around dinner time, so police and fire/paramedics would both respond. Her husband worked evenings and so there was a whole process they had to go through with the caretaker and getting in touch with the husband, etc. I am not familiar with sundowners?

No idea Whoo it is. Mrs. Kravitz Was the neighbor on the bewitched TV series. Obviously, being nosy, she witnessed a lot of strange things and no one ever believed her.

My Mum lives in a really quiet retirement type complex, we hardly hear a peep out of anyone. A few weeks ago two 'elderly' ladies were outside the bedroom windows having a brawl, it was , the language that came out of the pair of them would have made a sailor blush. It turned out to be about the noise one was making having a new carpet laid. It makes me chuckle when I think about it now. When my Dads dementia was making him do frightening things we had to call the police more that once to calm things down. That must have given the neighbours something to talk about.

I waited as long as I could (probably about 10 minutes after my last post) but I am old and though staying up to 11:30 was an astounding feat of will power. No ambulance ever showed up, so I don't think that it was ever a medical thing? But of course one could have come by while I was pretending to not be watching. This morning is just as peaceful as ever-not even a piece of litter over there. I will check around this morning and see if anyone in the neighborhood knows what happened, or if there is anything in the paper and update y'all. Until then, I suspect that whatever we make up will be way more fun in the long run. AmeliaBloomer you are right in wondering if everyone would even understand the Mrs. Kravitz reference. I wonder if there is a more current reference? I could probably ask the teen, but he is at his dad's and I am too lazy to text him. Ha.

I grew up in the 60's here in Australia watching Bewitched so I definitely know who she is!! I still love watching it when it comes on TV along with I dream of Jeannie and Gilligans Island.
On a side note, my 17 yr old grandson thanked me for my taste in old TV shows- He was the only one of his table at a recent Quiz night who recognised the theme music from Gilligans Island!

Mrs. Kravitz, sorry I wasn't on the board last night or I would have suggested you download a free police scanner app!
I loved Bewitched growing up - corny by today's standards for sure but all these years later I can still name the characters.
There was a pea here who used a picture of Mrs. K looking put her window. Don't think she came over to the new board can't remember her name.

When this happened in our neighborhood, across the street from our house, it was because the people living there turned out to be squatters who were cooking up meth and selling it, although they weren't selling it directly out of the house. That's just where they kept their lab. This was in a golf course community in a NE Atlanta suburb. They had no electricity or running water. I was told by a neighbor that they saw evidence of a camp fire in the living room area (they brazenly went into the house after the police had arrested the squatters and left and a cleaning crew came in to clean up the house).

Not much happens in my neighborhood. There's a house on the corner that seems to have someone with medical issues because at least 3 times in the past 6 months or so, an ambulance, fire truck (actually, their medical truck), and a couple police cars have shown up down there. Since it's a few houses down, I can't spy without being obvious about it.
I'd say it was a false alarm but why would the police be hanging around for so long after? I wouldn't be surprised if they found something while responding to a different kind of call. The stories my dad used to tell me about some of the calls he went on for fire in the kitchen resulting in drug busts, etc have left me with a very poor opinion of my city.

We had a drug dealer next door (rental) for a year. They told the owner that they were taking care of her very sick grandfather and all of the extra cars were doctors. You can imagine the ridiculousness of this when you would see young men with sagging pants bringing in ladies wearing almost nothing to crawl under the garage door that was left 2 feet open. No matter how many calls to the owner (in another state) asking him to deal with it didn't help. Four different neighbors called. They also didn't have a pit bull. One night when my husband and I were at open house the swat team came by and closed off the neighborhood, flash banged (?) the back yard and brought in the battering ram to take down the front door. My boys were thrilled (7th and 9th graders) that an episode of cops was playing out in the front yard. After the initial raid, my retired Navy officer neighbor across the street called and asked the boys if they would feel better at his house. No! They could see much better from ours. The next dude grew marijuana and trashed the house. After that the owner asked my neighbor to interview possible renters and keep him updated on the renters. Hee hee. The new neighbors are really nice and have improved the place 200%. I have two pit bulls. When I'm not nursing my newborn, the dogs and I roam the streets selling drugs. Silly lady!

Me? I am one of those people who couldn't care less about the neighborhood drama. But my DH is the biggest Nosy Nancy there is. He would have been out there schmoozing with the cops getting the whole damn story. Seriously, he is the neighborhood watch.
