DH recently told me that he feels very proud whenever he introduces me to his business associates or friends I haven't met. It meant a lot to me.
What recent compliment has meant a lot to you?

"You seem like a really happy person." I got that from a complete stranger and it was so nice to hear. I try to live my life looking on the bright side of things and happiness comes easily to me. I do believe that happiness is a choice and when I feel myself getting down or irritated I make a conscious effort to snap out of it and be happy. Apparently it's working.

I gave the eulogy at my brother's funeral yesterday. I worked very hard on it. People complimented the eulogy and said I captured who my brother was. That meant a lot to me

A mentally ill client at work left me a voice mail after our appointment and thanked me for meeting with him and told me I had given him hope and he hadn't had that in a long time.

"Your kids are not normal"
I have 2 daughters and they have never fit the typical teen stereotype. We actually like spending time with each other and they have always been great kids.

At the end of my sons's graduation speech he said he wanted to thank the greatest person he knows. ( It was me ) I waited 18 years for a compliment, but it was worth it. And it was in front of 5,000 people so they heard it too.

"You have smiley eyes". I don't know why, but this just made me so happy. I would have to agree with this one. Every time I see your avatar I feel like I know you! Not in a stalkery way either.

Work has not been easy, but my recent appraisal form said my "willingness and capability had not gone unnoticed." I have worked really hard so this was very pleasing!

On Thursday, I walked around the corner of a building to see and hear 23 Year 3 students waving their hands in the air and cheering 'Yay, Ms Harris!!!" and then some of them started doing a little dance and chanting "ex-per-I-ments, ex-per-I-ments" over and over again. They were SO excited about the ice experiments we had planned for the afternoon.
Teaching can be a challenging job sometimes, but the kids at our school can always make me smile!

'Oh thank goodness it is you!' From a regular patient when I walked into her room to say I was to be her midwife. She did look familiar. Turned out I had delivered her first and third babies. This was her fifth.

A teenager at work told me he "appreciates me." Most of the young people I work with are very egocentric and would curse you out before giving you a compliment. It was nice to hear.

One of my friends told me she was so proud of the relationship I have with my teen daughter.
This meant the world to me. I try so hard to have a good relationship with my daughter. It is so hard for me since I didn't grow up with a mom. It is all new territory for me.

A colleague specifically requested I be the one to cover her class for over half of the week next week while she is out administering testing. Not only that, I happened to walk into her class yesterday as she was telling them it would be me covering & they cheered!

My son told me that all his friends tell him how lucky he is to have me for a mom. Then he told me that the group he is in told him they feel so lucky to have someone like me to help them make their garb/uniforms.
Basically I sew as a hobby and am not all that good at it but I construct garb for them for the cost of materials basically. None of them really have money and it lets them feel good about themselves to participate with the uniform they couldn't otherwise afford, and thankfully they are not at all critical of points that don't quite meet and stitches that aren't quite straight, lol!
My husband told me that someone came to him and told him at the scholarship award banquet the recipient specifically named him as being the teacher that most influenced her. Just thought I'd mention it on this thread because I felt really good about that for him!

I provide therapy in a group home-esque setting (think dormitories and everybody is a client of someone on my team). I had 3 clients tell me last week that as a large group (I think lunch) they were bragging that they had me. They said the group was jealous and that made them feel good to know they were taken care of. One is a nice compliment... for 3 of them to repeat the same story, that is a huge compliment.

At the end of the school year I had a parent write me the most wonderful letter. She gave me credit for turning her 4th grade son into an avid reader this year. I encouraged him to read several titles and now she says he can't stop reading. It made, not just my day, but my entire year!

I received a card and a note at the end of the yea from two students thanking me for what I have done and letting me know that I am the glue that holds our organization together. After busting your butt all year, it is nice to have a teenager recognize it!

My co-worker posted a picture of a sandwich I had made for her on FB and captioned it, " Caro, you are my hero." A long story but it made me feel good (and all the compliments that went with it).

This is going to sound shallow but...it really made my day and I didn't even hear it personally.
My son(23)works in a big box store and he takes me there to do my grocery shopping every week (I don't drive). Last week he was working the following day and his big boss asked who he had been with the night before (when we were shopping) and was told 'mum' - the response (according to my son) "That's your mom? She looks very young -she must take very good care of herself"
I'm almost 45, overweight (but working on it - I've lost 40 lbs, have another 50 to go) and have a negative self-image (thanks mum for always reminding me of my faults). It really made my day to get a compliment even second-hand and made me even more determined to keep plugging away at the diet/exercise
[now if I sit back and analyse it - I'm pretty sure that the boss thinks Simon is closer to 30 and thus would peg me as at least in my 50s making my actual 44 'young' but I'm not going to go there]

My end of year eval was very positive and mentioned my work ethic and willingness to help my co-workers whenever needed. Always happy to get a good evaluation.

"You always put people before things." And, by "things," I think she meant "housework," but, I still took it as a compliment! :-D

My brothers friend told me how much she admires everything I do for my Mum, it meant a lot as I've been feeling very overwhelmed recently and was positive I was doing a lousy job.

At the end of my sons's graduation speech he said he wanted to thank the greatest person he knows. ( It was me ) I waited 18 years for a compliment, but it was worth it. And it was in front of 5,000 people so they heard it too. That is so sweet! I have three girls, and I would never expect such a wonderful compliment from them. They for sure take me and my husband for granted.
The most important compliment I have gotten that was really meaningful was from a couple of strangers.
About 10 yrs. ago, my kids and I were at McDonalds. They were 2, 5 and 7. A man walked over and told me he has been a teacher for 30 years, and it is rare to see kids as well behaved as my girls were being.
Another time, (also at McDonalds!) the following year, my kids and my daughter's best friend were at McDonald's for breakfast. A woman with her 4 yr. old son came over and told me that she had been watching us, and that my girls were so well mannered and well behaved! She had been at a hotel in the area for a few days, and there was a group of girls my kids ages who were very badly behaved, and their parents had the "girls will be girls" excuse of the behavior. She said it made her never want to have a daughter. Then she saw my kids and realized not all kids are like the ones at the hotel. I also complimented her son. She and I both said that we raise our kids to behave well because we want people to like our kids!
You can see why I like taking my kids to McDonalds!

2 things recently: Our business (DH and I) was recently involved in a large, local fundraiser for CMN. We donated a good bit of the work that we did and made all of their last minute needs our top priority. Several of the people involved went out of their way their way to call us and thank us for our involvement and to tell us how integral we'd been in the project doing as well as it has been. The truth is that any sign company could have done exactly what we'd done for them, but we made the project very personal and became emotionally invested in the cause. When a grown man called me and his voice was shaking with emotion to tell me what 'just plain old GOOD folks' we are and that our hard work behind the scenes does not go unnoticed, it was really moving for me. Also, I stopped by my son's job last weekend to drop something off for him. I thanked his boss for being so understanding and willing to work with him during this illness he's had this past month. He told me that he and his wife absolutely love my son and that he is the best employee they had ever had, hands down. He went on and on about how he goes out of his way to do things that are above and beyond what his job calls for and how valuable he is to them and how refreshing it was to see a young person with is work ethic. He congratulated me on having raised such a wonderful young man. A compliment to one of my kids is definitely goes straight to my heart!
