I agree with you Tina when Nylene told me it was five years I almost fell over Time is flying! Nice hearing from you and so glad to hear your children continue blossoming! Before you know it you will be having weddings!
Kelly-loving that new photo of you! I really do like that hairdo on you! Like that pretty pink lipstick also! Lights up your face! Pretty pretty! Ron must be loving this new you too!!!
Well the scrap room is finished-all but a couple things which I am not sure what to do with! They are empty picture frames from my mom and DMIL. There are things that needed purged that will happen as I go, and photos that need gone thru but I would never get to scrap again if I did it all now. So will be posting some work soon!

Hey all! Today was a nice day here. Thanks for all the praise on my mom's mini album. They lace doily was on the front when I bought as well as the nice blue color. I started my mil's chipboard album and it is a scalloped circle. This one is unpainted so I painted it white today and tomorrow will work on it more. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Cindy- I let Ron read what you wrote about my new hair do. He smiled and said, "YES!" He loves it and of course her other way too. Is he a good man or what! LOL! You said you had some of you mom and dmil frames. Do you want to use them? You could print some art or pics out and frame them in your craft room.
Nylene- Hey Nylene! Oh, I finally got my fabric I ordered so this week I will start on my first sewing project. I saved a few diy sites for instructions. I am making a throw pillow cover. I like the fab but it is a little darker yellow than I wanted but maybe next time I will get a sample first. I want to make a window valance next so I will need several yards.
Tina- HELLO THERE! Good to see you and glad you and your family are doing well. Take care!

Fishing Derby Oh Kelly I have about 20 with photos in them to hang and then two boxes of them without photos. I think I am going to store them in my basement on shelves! I know Ron the Man was going to like your new look! Why would he not-your a beauty!

Wow, Cindy, that new improved scraproom must have magic in it. That is the cutest page. I love everything about it. That rainbow rick rack is such a great touch. I'm expecting even more layouts to come out of that new room.
Kelly, I agree with Cindy and Ron. The new hairdo is beautiful. I'm envious of all that wonderful hair! I can't wait to see what you do with your MIL's project. Be sure to take photos before giving it to her.
Tina, so glad to see you. I know you are busy. We'd love to see some of those layouts. I'd love to see how much your kids have grown since Kid Nation. Are you safe? Sounds like your area was getting some wild weather. I hope you and Theresa and Toni are OK. I always think of you when I hear Indy, Kentucky and TN in the news.

Oops, I forgot to post my layout. This is a super simple one, but I needed to get the photos scrapped. The striped piece is the very last piece of paper from the first paper pad I ever bought. I hoarded that little strip and knew I'd find a way to use it. (no wonder I can barely turn around in my scraproom) LOL! www.flickr.com/photos/129156123@N06/19706885851/in/dateposted-public/

I left you some love Nylene on your page! I forgot to tell you in my reply that those letters were from an Echo Park sticker page! My next page will have a funny story with it! Just a little tease! Ok enough for now! Oh one more thing...
Kelly I am loving that gray tee shirt you pinned on Pinterest for changing a shirt that is too large-so cute!!!!

Here's the one I was teasing ypu about! It was a funny story when it happened! Who would have ever thought! LOL A Fish Tale or TailSo far I have stuck to my rule to clean up after each project -I wonder how long that will last-probably until I start making Christmas cards! Maggie got to go to her first concert tonight. Becky took her to see the group Train at the Blossom Music Center which is an outdoor theater and it is a beautiful night for it as it is not raining. We have had so much rain the ground is so saturated and I would not be surprised if the plants start rotting. Oh well have a great night! Love you both!

Cindy, I love your layout and the story behind it. That's what scrapping is all about. I love the stories behind the photos. I had to laugh at your resolve to clean up after every project. I try that and it works for one project and then it seems to go to pieces. You'd die if you saw my poor messy room. I am working on it, but I had my table cleared last night so.......I have another layout to share! www.flickr.com/photos/129156123@N06/19562416688/in/pool-2peasrefugees/

Happy Thursday! We went to the park concert last night and enjoyed being out there. We were both a little bummed about the music. It said 80's and current themed music and they only played a few songs we recognized. We love music from the 80's so although it was still fun being there we didn't get to sing as much. Next week will be a special concert for the Special Olympics starting later this month. Our city is hosting the Irish delegation so that should be fun for them. Cindy- Boy, that is a lot of frames you have. I hope you can figure out what to do. Thanks for the complements on my hair. I do love it and today is my day to redo it. It is some work but worth it. Also, I have been "pinning" t-shirt ideas. I want to try one or more of those ideas on tees that I want to change. If and when I do I will share with you. Nylene- You and Cindy have been some scrappin' gals! I do like what you have done and that is so amazing you still had pp from your first paper pad. So neat!

Cindy, I'm sure Maggie had a great time tonight. She's growing up so much. I'm glad you finally got a day without rain for her to enjoy it.
Kelly, your concert at the park sounds fun even if they didn't play your 80's favorites. I will be interested to see what new ideas you have for t-shirts. How's the pillow coming?
Have a great weekend, you Pokey Pals.

Happy Friday! Today I continued working on the mini album for my mil. I do like how it is looking so far and still have a little more work on it. Ron is writing the sentiment so together we are making a beautiful gift for her.
Nylene- I do like these t-shirt ideas I saw on Pinterest. You know they have so much there. I may try a few this Summer. I still love that iron-on idea. So I plan to do more of it too. Also, I haven't started my pillow yet. Maybe next week I can get going with it. We washed the fabric today so gotta iron it and is should be ready to go go go. LOL!
Well just popping in and waving hello!

Hi, Pokeys! Nice to see you popping in.
Kelly, I'm anxious to see your album when you finish it. I'm going to go find the t-shirt ideas you've found on Pinterest. We tried out the sharpie markers and rubbing alcohol on scraps of fabric at Angie's. They were cool. We didn't go get shirts to try it on, but maybe Em's girls and I will go find some and try more of that. They need to model something they have made for Decorate Your Duds contest. We just haven't accomplished much this summer. The girls just returned today from 9 days in Michigan. Angie will be here in about 3 weeks and then it's County Fair. Seems like summer has gone too quickly this year.
Cindy, how did Maggie like the concert? Is your scraproom still clean and beckoning you to come scrap? Mine is soooo much better. Steve walked in and said, "Whoa! This is coming along." So that is encouraging. I went through my boxes of stamps. Most of mine are on blocks and I haven't used those for years. I don't think I have enough clear stamps to start organizing like you did. Right now they all fit in a small box and I can thumb through them. I'm hoping to become a better stamper. My neighbor has just become a Stampin Up rep. and will hold her openhouse on Tues. I hope she can help me get better at that. But then I'll just want to get more stamps!LOL!
My computer is acting up so I'd better quit before it loses this post. Guess I need to reboot. Have a great weekend, my friends.

Oh boy glad your computer is still good to go. Maggie had a good time at the concert-she fell asleep on the way home as they had been at daycamp with the scouts that day. They were there 3 days I heard all about how they dissected owl pellets! Sounds like fun eh????I will not have them this coming week as their sister will be watching them-Jeremy's daughter from a previous marriage.
My scrap room is still clean as I have not been in there. Just been busy. I will tell you it was 80 degrees here when I got up at 5:45 this morning. We have been in the 90's the past couple of days. And right now it is raining AGAIN!!!!! I can't believe it is almost August already. well going to close for right now!

Nylene I forgot to tell you that one of the tricks to great stamped images is to do your stamping on a piece of foam-like the foam 8.5 x 11 and 1/4 inch thick at your craft store. I forget who told me that but it really works well! Oh and Jen McGuire stores her wood stamps in a cupboard on spice racks -the ones that look like little steps. Then her stamps are easy to see since they are on different levels.

Hey girls! It has been hot and humid over the last several days. Today feels better but we had some tropical thing out in our Pacific ocean. This is so weird for us to have this type of humid weather but it did bring some rain so I am happy for that. Cindy, so I guess we are having similar weather. Hope you are staying cool too. Sewing question: I started a t-shirt project and the stitching on the back was all bunched up. I saw something about the bobbin and saw mine wasn't threaded right. I fixed it and the sewing still seams a little weird. Any ideas? Nylene & Cindy- Both your layouts are so nice! I left you some love on your pages. I will be uploading the mini album I made for my mil today. It turned out so pretty and she loved it.

This week has been really nice here Kelly-in the low 80's with lower humidity! I am loving it! Finally got some decent weather where we can enjoy being outdoors! I hope to do something creative today. I need to make some cards-made one the other day and it was a little too simple. See you really get out of the swing-and need those little details!
Nylene I am hoping you are busy and that you are not sick or injured Hope we hear from you soon! Kelly your mini album for your DMIL is absolutely beautiful and Ron did such a good job with the sentiment! You two make quite a pair! Ok BBL to see what is up with everyone!

Hi, Pokeys!
I'm sorry to be AWOL for a while. While we were building in some shelves in my closet, everything had to be moved to the other side of the room, which completely covered my computer and made it impossible to reach it. My ipad is so old that it doesn't work correctly and I can't open a 2nd link. I can get to this site, but not to this thread. And when I try to post I usually lose the internet part way through. So I've been incommunicado!
Cindy, thank you so much for the ideas about stamping on a foam pad. I actually have one but never thought to stamp on it. I need to watch more videos. I love your scraps organization. I have some of those cropper hoppers I'm not using. I'm wondering if I can find a convenient place to keep them close to where I work. I think I'm going to try it. I'm still just getting things put back and finding new/better spots for things.
Kelly, I wish I could be there to see your MIL open the card/album. I know there will be tears. Something like that as a gift is so much more appreciated as years go by than any purchased item. It will become a family heirloom. Lovely job. I love the shape of it. You do great work, my friend!
Well, I've taken my break and need to get back to organizing. Angie and family will be here next week and I have to have this room in shape for Crafty Sammie!!
Take care of yourselves. I'll be back soon.

Happy Monday! We had a nice weekend. I got to M's and shopped some. Then yesterday we went to play in the park called Shakespeare by the Sea. They have the performances at different parks in So. Cal and this one was at a park about 20 mins away. They did the play called "As You Like It." I wish I had read more about the plot so we could of understood the story better but it was still fun just seeing a play in the park. We were laughing too because while we were sitting there we saw what I thought was a humming bird flying around. Then we saw several and they were going fast. But they were dragon flies!!! They decided to fly VERY close to Ron and I and we were nervously hoping they didn't hit us! LOL! We had to move to another spot because these little guys wanted to give us a show but we were not interested! I have never seen that many together. In fact, I can't ever remember seeing them in real life ever. So crazy! LOL! Also, thanks for the praise on my dmil's album. I loved making it and hope to make more of these minis this year. Cindy- Did you make any more cards? The sports world has slowed down so I know we all will be glad when football starts again. I haven't been watching too much baseball this year so this is the dry sports days of Summer. Nylene- Glad to see ya back. I know you are excited to see you dd and family soon. Will you be having a craft party for the grands? So fun!

Good evening ladies! Nylene it was great hearing from you! I figured you were busy!!! I just did not have a clue what you were busy with! LOL I hope you don't get lost in there! LOL I thought I was going to when I was doing mine. Sammie will not know where to find anything when she gets there.
Kelly sounds like you and Ron had a nice weekend! Glad those dragonflies did not attack you! LOL
I signed up for a card class over at Jennifer McGuire's -backgrounds. I thought it would help me catch up on some techniques I had forgotten or never learned! I Have been making cards the past few evenings. Some nights I make a couple and some nights just one but I am having fun. Believe it or not there is only one item on the supplies list I do not own! I will wait till they use it to decide whether I need one or not.
Ok I am getting tired and it is about time for the news so going to get off of here! Night and see you tomorrow

Cindy, what??? You are making cards and not posting them so we can see? We need photos!
Kelly, I forgot to talk to you about your sewing on t-shirt fabric. You may have to gently work with the tensions on your machine. You don't want to move them much, but try loosening the bobbin tension just a touch. Stitching on t-shirt fabric doesn't turn out as pretty as stitching on non-stretch fabric. Another thing you might try, is to start stitching into the body of the piece instead of right at the edge. You can back-tack, or leave your needle down, turn it around and go back to get the part at the edge. Sometimes knits like to get caught in the machinery as you begin to stitch right at the edge. Wish I could come over for a few minutes to help you!! And double check that the upper part of the machine is properly threaded too. Sometimes missing one little loop with the thread can cause headaches. Good luck.
My room is looking better. I'm still debating over where to keep my scraps. I have a lot left to do, but it's coming along. I have arm loads of stuff to carry downstairs. It's mostly Cub Scout stuff. I hate to get rid of it because I might be asked to help again sometime, but it's not going to take precious room in my scraproom anymore. My new church calling is teaching 8-year-olds on Sunday. They are really sweet. I team teach with a new mother in our Ward. There are only 9 children, so it's not hard and I think I'm going to enjoy it. It just seems weird to have Tuesdays free after almost 9 years of teaching Cubs! So that's going to be my scrapping/genealogy day!
Well, my body says I've worked long enough today, so I'm quitting. Talk to you later!

Good Morning! Thanks for your kind words on my layout! The cake tasted pretty much like a yellow cake even though it had all those colors! Maggie went to the grocery store with me and if we go down the baking isle I am in trouble! She wants to buy every thing she sees! We saw this one and it was a have to! You mix the batter, then measure it out into 6 bowls and add food coloring to it. Then layer it into the cake pan. I happen to see on Food Network that you can pour your batter over the back of a spoon and it will not mix into the previous layer and it worked. So there you go! It is pretty though. We had a busy day yesterday as we went shopping for some school clothes. Maggie will be going to the middle school down the street from me thanks to open enrollment. Well they do not wear uniforms and so we needed a few new things. I have not been sleeping well-only getting 3-4 hours a night so I am dragging. Last night I slept good though. I sleep ok but something wakes me and then I can't go back to sleep. The kids will be here soon so I need to get moving! BBL!

Nylene you have the name of chatterbox and I am here chatting again. Maggie & I watched the first class of the card Background class today and she got to play with inks for the first time! Boy did she enjoy herself blending the inks onto the papers. She wanted to know how I kept her from knowing about all of that for this long. We did not really make anything yet-just played with the inks and stamps. Maybe tomorrow we will make an actual card. Hopefully I will make a card this evening.
