Cindy, I had to laugh at Maggie's comment thinking you have been hiding those cool inks from her. LOL! You are braver than I am. I hardly use inks and would never pull them out with the grands here! Glad your cake tasted good. Alyssa insisted on making a checkerboard cake for her dad for Father's Day. Quite a technique, but it turned out cool. I try to keep cakes OUT of this house! These little gals are always wanting to try something new. That's a great trait. It will be nice to have Maggie close to you for school this year. Our 6th grades are still in the Elem. School so I will be in the same school with Lys.
I'm working on a big family reunion that I am in charge of over Labor Day weekend. It will be held at my brother's home in Idaho again. He has the Snake River at the end of his long, long back lawn, and the kids can have so much fun. His company wants to send him to China, but SIL says he's telling them he can't leave until after the Reunion. I'm trying to decide on food and think we'll do pulled pork instead of having someone stand over a grill making hamburgers and hotdogs for the large group. It will be fun to get us all together.
Better run! Have a great week.
ETA: I meant to tell you that I hope you sleep better tonight and the rest of the week, Cindy. It's hard functioning on just a few hours of sleep.

Three pages??? That's amazing! Now if we could recruit a few more Pokeys, that would be nice too. Thanks for chatting and helping to keep this thread alive!
Hope you slept well last night, Cindy. When do the kids start school?

Good evening! Yes Nylene I did sleep better last night-6.5 hours! Now I hope it keeps up. Maggie starts school the 19th and Bobby starts back on the 1st nor around there. I took Maggie for some school clothes shopping Tuesday since she has always worn uniforms and she won't now. I my self like uniforms as then everyone is wearing the same. No cards made but I will tell you Maggie is loving playing with those inks! I have been trying to get more active on the forums hoping we would meet some scrappers over there. I am tired so going to get off but will stop back tomorrow!

Happy Friday and happy last day of July! Summer is almost over and it seems like it went so fast. Well, we went to the Wednesday night park concert and this one was with the orchestra. They are really good and we like how at the end they let the kids come up and have a few seconds to direct the orchestra. So neat! Next week will be the last one so we hope to enjoy that one too. Also, I started my pillow cover project. I ironed the fabric and today I will jump into the sewing part. I haven't ironed in ages. Ron is our official ironer of the family. LOL! So I gotta relearn how to press the fabric cause mine looks like I didn't iron at all! LOL! Wrinkles everywhere! Any tips? Also, I will be sharing a tote bag I did with iron on art and some embellies. So cute! Cindy- Your cards are amazing!!! I like that you were trying some new things and styles. I hope to find some new ways too because my cards have gotten boring for me to make. I need some new ideas. Also, glad you are sleeping better. Hope it continues! Us creative souls need our rest! Nylene- Thanks for the sewing tips. I did figure out the problem. My bobbin wasn't threaded right. I fixed it and I am good. I still have to learn about all the little gadgets and knobs. I wish I had a manual with my mil I guess didn't have one. Your family reunion sounds like it will be so fun. A river at your brothers sound so peaceful. Hey, I have been to Idaho. My dad had a business trip there one Summer and so my mom and I went and we stayed at the Sun Valley resort. Is that the name of it? It's been so long ago. I remember we went fishing for trout with my parents friends. I caught one fish and we had so much fun!

Kelly you might be able to find a manual online if you search the manufacturer, and model number. Usually they have them so you can download them. Looking forward to seeing the tote and the pillow you are making.

Kelly, how fun that you spent time in Sun Valley. We used to have 4-H Camp close to there and spent one day at the resort. Glad you figured out the sewing machine. Have you checked online for a manual to the machine. I was able to download one for my mom's machine that I inherited. It was free. It would be worth it to find the model # and try it. As for ironing, I always keep a spray bottle of water on the ironing boards and give things a quick spritz before I iron. Also, when ironing a seam, dampen it and give it a pull as you press with the hand not holding the iron. Hey, how can you think your cards are boring! They are fabulous. I'm sure you'd have fun using some of your art journaling on your cards too.
Cindy, your kids go back to school so early but so do ours. They usually have til the end of August, but not this year. I'm not sure when I start again. I think it will take a week or so of testing to decide which kids need the extra help in reading. Glad you slept better. Keep up the good work/snooze.
Well, the month's over. I will probably wait til tomorrow to post the new thread. I will close this one when I do.
