I would be such a better student now than I was in the 80s because I would be so much more engaged and informed. It took me forever to get through The Tudors (which I realize wasn't always historically accurate) because I was constantly looking up things and then off into some rabbit hole of history. Same goes with almost every documentary or other fact based work that I read or watch.
I love that time period and taught it in school. I kept watching the Tudors thinking no! I had to keep reminding myself it was a story. I like to fact check too, not here, but I am a bit skeptical of so many things I see and hear on television. My kids will often remind me not to argue with the television because they can't hear me. Wait! What? If TV's can't hear you, does that mean when I yell at politicians on TV that they can't really hear me?

Everything I do from the shirt I wear to what I yell impacts the game.

I only skimmed this thread after the first page. I just wanted to say that I google absolutely everything that interests me. I'm watching Orange in the New Black and I've googled just about every cast member at different times because they all look familiar.

I even dug it out of the dirty laundry for that last game!

You know why. lol I kinda jumped on the band wagon because everyone kept saying I needed to watch it so I barrowed it but I still have no idea what it's really about. I'm probably the only person in the US that didn't like Breaking Bad. Another band wagon I jumped on and I just found it incredibly boring. DH thinks I'm crazy and I'm sure on the verge of trading me in because I dislike the show haha!

I just was loaned season 1 to watch. Is it any good? Everybody else loves it, but I don't like shows that glorify criminals (Sopranos, Dexter, etc.). You know why. I don't know your back story, Lucy, but for the record, I don't like those shows either. They make me really uncomfortable for some reason. Maybe it's an age thing. I'm a baby boomer and was raised that law enforcement was to be respected and criminals were bad. No grey area. I will admit to being a prolific "googler". Both my DH and I will watch old TV shows from our youth and jump online with our iPhones to see if the stars are dead or alive. Ha. And as photographers, when I first saw SP's picture and felt that it was very professional and wondered it her husband was a pro. I immediately googled "Wiccan woman pictures" and it is the FIRST picture in the results. I thought her DH was probably, in fact, was a pro and it was part of his portfolio - so I moved on. I'll also confess that I don't recall ever "binge watching" any TV show. The closest I came was watching a bunch of YouTube blooper and out-take videos from Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, HIMYM, and a few other shows. Hey - it was in the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep!

Orange is the New Black is the only show I watch like that. I don't think it glorifies as much as it humanizes. Makes me want to stay out of prison, that's for sure, lol.

Would you believe I got all the way to SEASON THREE and still, it did not hold my interest! What a waste of my time. lol I do love OITNB though! It's one of my faves. But like Lucy stated her reasons above, my husband REFUSES to watch anything that glorifies criminals. Eh well, I just watch it alone while I work at my desk.

Once again, it's not the ease of access that perplexes me. I use Google on a regular basis, just not to look up pictures posted on a random message board. I said earlier, to each their own, and it still applies. But that doesn't make me think it's any less crazy, lol. I still maintain that some people are way too invested in this place to have had such a visceral reaction to this whole deal, and I'm more than okay with being the minority opinion. I just had to quote you so I could say how much I love your avatar! That's hilarious!

NoWomanNoCry I didn't like Breaking Bad AT ALL and I tried several times because everyone said it was so good. I just found it to be a bunch of scummy people doing what they do best. I don't get the attraction. Orange is the New Black, on the other hand, I binge watched twice and love it.

I love how our threads always morph into these side conversations!
Add me to the list that just couldn't get into Breaking Bad or Sons of Anarchy. I've only watched the first season of Orange Is The New Black. I really dislike Piper.
