I'm looking for a new activity tracker, one that is EASY to use. Tell me about yours, but no Fitbits. I have had nothing but unpleasant experiences with two Fitbits and with their customer service. Tell me about different ones please. And yes, I've googled and looked on Amazon. I read the reviews but I'd like to hear experiences from real people. Or as real as you all are since we don't really know each other.

I have a Misfit Shine ( Link here ). It's similar to a fitbit, but it's waterproof. I work out in a pool so that's an important feature to me. It uses a small battery, so no charging. I just changed my battery this week, and the last change was December. Usually they last about 3 months, not sure why it want so long this time. You need a smartphone or tablet to sync your device and check out your workout stats. The Misfit company also makes a sportier device called a Flash. It's less expensive, but definitely more sporty and clunky looking. I actually have both, and it's nice to switch them up. Both devices come with a wristband and a clip attachment to clip to pocket or shoe. Pros: it's waterproof, and the Shine especially doesn't look like a fitness tracker. There are lots of accessories for it, including a gorgeous silver necklace. There are some really pretty swarovski shines, but they are usually back ordered. I wear my shine with a bunch of bracelets and to me it doesn't look as "fitness band" as a fitbit. Cons: the Shine tends to pop out of the band that's included in the box. I've only had it happen once, but some people just loose them constantly. The shine is magnetic, so it can pop out of your band onto a washer or metal table. Hasn't happened to me, but I've heard about it. The Flash is secured to the band differently and is more secure. I have an iPhone, and I have no problem with the app, but the people who have android phones complain a lot. I think it's gotten better. Customer support is pretty good, at least in my experience. My first shine got water in it within the year warantee and they replaced it. My flash band snapped when I was fiddling with it, also within the warantee date, and they replaced it also. There's an active Misfit community on facebook, so if you get a misfit device, you should join. Lots of help with device issues and we try to challenge each other fitness wise.

My Mom has the Garmin Vivofit. She loves it. She works in a greenhouse and doesn't have to worry about the water. The battery doesn't need to be charged (it lasts about a year) which is good because she doesn't have a computer. It sets a new goal for her every day based on her actual steps...and it gives her a push to get up and move if she's been sitting too long.
When my Fitbit dies, I'm totally getting a Garmin.

I don't really track but it's interesting to see how the days add up. I just use my iPhone. They have a tracker in the health app. I just don't see the point in having anything else.

I also just use my iPhone. I used to have a Fitbit and the iPhone was just as accurate. I always have my phone on me, so I don't bother with anything else now. I use the Pedometer ++ app because I like that it shows a step count on the app badge.

I used to do that, too, but I don't always have my phone on my body, so it wasn't close to being accurate. I wanted more accuracy. A good example is when I do yardwork. It's a dirty job and I'm frequently using the garden hose etc, so I don't want my phone in my pocket. Yet I tend to take about 12-14,000 steps over the course of several hours of yardwork. I didn't realize I was taking that many before I got my Fitbit. In response to the OP: I saw a demo for the Garmin Vivofit on QVC and it looks like it has nice features. I have no experience with it, though, so I can't speak from experience. Sorry you're having troubles with your Fitbit. So far, so good with my Flex.

It's in my pocket everywhere I go. I hate any outfit that doesn't have pockets because I can't hold my phone. Even gardening. But I get what you're saying. I've never wanted accuracy, but I can see how others would. I just don't want another thing to keep track of.

I've been looking at Garmin, I have a Fit bit but if I can just wear the Garmin and no watch that would work. Amazon is going to have the Garmin on sale for Prime Members today. I am watching and waiting to see how much it will cost

I have the misfit shine also, but I have not had any problems with it popping out of the band. I wear it all the time! Like PEN & INK, I got mine because I exercise in the water on a regular basis. I'm happy with it, although I do wish it also had a heart rate monitor.

My did has a Jawbone. I like the look of it better than my Fitbit Flex, and it has a slimmer, more rounded profile. The app seems to track more data than mine does. What I don't like about it is that it's all one piece. When my Fitbit band started getting beat-up looking, I just swapped it for a new one. You can't do that with the Jawbone.

If all you want to do is track steps, take a look at the Omron pedometer. It's a fraction of the cost of the fancy ones that have gps etc..., but very reliabel. You set your stride length and it will then count your steps and calculate your distance walked. It will also count your aerobic steps and calories burned. I tried a fitbit for a while but the one I had did not show my steps, I had to log in to see that, it only had lights that blinked to tell me if I was close. The Omron gives you everything at the touch of a button and it stores 7 days of activity.

There's also a new one out that is really pretty called the Bella Beat. bellabeat.com It looks like a leaf, so more like a piece of jewelry. I didn't get it because I couldn't find any info about it being waterproof. It does have some kind of reading to do with your breathing, which I found appealing since I have asthma.

I have this pedometer. I love it because it will keep time (which is how I measure my activity). It does allow for steps, but I have a really hard time with that because I don't know how to calculate my stride accurately. (I mean, it gives directions, I don't think I've been successful in following them.) My MP3 player has a stopwatch, but I can't skip through songs while it's running. And I used to estimate time by looking at the clock, but that wasn't the most accurate, especially if I was walking the mall and stopped to browse or use the bathroom or had to slow down because of traffic... And it is super, super low tech.

Dh bought me the basis peak but I gave it back to him since it does not give you credit for steps unless your arms are moving by your side, so my big walk all around the neighborhood pushing the stroller uphill for 30 min? It counted 28 steps. It also started to give me a rash after 1 day so I switched arms and it was uncomfortable due to my wrist problems. I gave up but dh like it because it tracks your heart rate and your sleep.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll browse for them all on Amazon in a bit and read the descriptions.
