I literally cannot even imagine not locking my car doors. They are locked when I am driving and when I park. Always. They are only ever unlocked for the 5 seconds it takes to open the door. I'm the same way. When by myself, my doors are locked. I take my keys and lock the door. With passengers (the door is already locked from the drive) I would take my keys. If I saw they got I would lock the doors.

Not on purpose unless I am in the city or a strange area.
My doors auto lock when the car starts moving. When at a gas station I open my driver door and it keeps the other 3 doors locked but the driver door (also the side the gas door is on) stays open and also unlocked. I also always take my car key out of the car with me...can't imagine leaving that in there if I wasn't in the car. My purse is always on the floor of the back seat, so no worries that someone could steal that (unless the smashed the window).

I've thought that this could happen at a stoplight too. I always look at who is next to me but I think it would be wise to have the locks on even when you are in the car.

Only if I'm in a sketchy neighborhood. Otherwise the drivers side is unlocked.
ETA I rarely carry cash and I only have one credit card that would be with me in order to purchase fuel.

I lock the doors when I go in to pay for my gas but I have to unlock the doors to open my gas door. I usually leave the doors unlocked when I'm pumping my gas. On the rare occasion I carry a purse a thief would be disappointed because all that is in it is some tampons, Advil, and a bottle of water, I carry my phone and money in my pocket.

I only unlock the driver's door to get in, so when I pump gas that is the only door that is unlocked-- and it's on the same side as the gas pump. I have never locked my keys in the car in almost 40 years of driving and doubt that it will ever happen, since the keys come out of the ignition when I stop, and I use them to lock the car.

Lock the door every time. And I go a step further and put my purse on the rear seat floor on my side (it's usually there even when I'm driving). When I pump gas, I leave the car with nothing except my keys and debit card, then lock the door. Purse is not immediately visible if someone looks in the passenger side window, and I have nothing to grab if someone comes up to me at the pump.

Always. Keep the keys and my wallet in hand and lock the car. All those emails about creeps who get in the back seat to attack you while you pump gas have freaked me out I suppose.

No, most of the time I unlock all the doors, put my wallet in my pocket, and go around the car gathering my trash to put in the trash can next to the pumps!
I don't do that when I'm in the city but out here in the suburbs I think I'm more likely to get run over by the Starbucks-drinking, guerrilla-texting, no-attention-paying, SUV-driving soccer mom than robbed at the gas pump.

Yes...I get out of the car, lock it, put my keys in my pocket and pump gas. I leave my purse in the car while I am pumping gas. When done, I unlock the car and get in. It is just a habit I have. Our gas stations are pretty crowded all the time. There have been carjackings, purse theft, etc. I just don't take any chances.

Always. I know people first hand, who've had their purses snatched that way.

Never lock, I almost exclusively fuel at Costco and it is always a crowd. My California Costco was widely considered to be the busiest, but the one that Canadians go to in Bellingham, WA has lanes that are twice as long because people fill up heaps of gas cans. It is wild.

Nope. My fill is on the passenger side, so if I have a purse in the car, it's on the side next to the pump and me. Also, at my regular station, there is more than a car's width between the cars filling up, and it would be nearly impossible for someone to "slide" from their car to my car to steal my purse without me seeing them. My wallet is on me, not in the purse, when I fuel up. When I'm in the car, it is locked. When I park somewhere and leave it, it is locked.
ETA: I pay at the pump, so I am always right with my car/stuff.

Yes I ALWAYS lock my car when I put petrol in my car. That's because I have to leave the car and go into the store to pay. When the local petrol station had pay-at-the-pump facilities I didn't lock the car because I didn't ever leave the car unattended.
(Most petrol stations here don't have pay-at-the-pump facilities anymore. They realised that they were losing money because people were not having to go into the store to pay and therefore were not making other purchases. It's a pain in the bum.)

Up until about 10 years ago, we could still pump and then pay around here. I was bummed when we lost that due to the jerks who would steal the gas.

No, but, if I'm alone, only the driver's side is unlocked.

I lock my doors. I keep my purse in the front seat, in full view of anyone when I get out to pump the gas. So I lock the doors... just seems wise to me.

I don't. In fact, until I got my new car a few months back, I didn't lock my car doors at all. <shrug>
I lock them now when I go inside somewhere, but that's really it.

Just to pump gas? No. My car has auto lock so only the driver's side is unlocked. I always pay with a cc at the pump. I also just start the pump on and get back in my car.

Depends on where I am. The Toyota safety feature that I have keeps all the doors locked but the driver's side. If I have to go inside I lock everything and take my purse.

I fill up at home 99% of the time. If I gas up in town, I pay at the pump.

I literally cannot even imagine not locking my car doors. They are locked when I am driving and when I park. Always. They are only ever unlocked for the 5 seconds it takes to open the door. I am like this too. I worked at a mall in Omaha growing up and there were several cases of robberies and kidnapping when I was working there. A friend of a friend disappeared at car wash (in Colorado). Chances are nothing will ever happen, but I like to lessen my chances even more.
