I washed my good, favorite Ralph Lauren white shorts with a load DH threw in the wash this morning. Only problem? There was a ball point pen in DH's shorts. The ONLY ink on anything is on MY shorts. My favorite white shorts
I poured bleach on them, washed, nada. I put hand sanitizer on the stain, nada. I sprayed with hairspray, nada. NOTHING is working on my favorite white shorts. I now put more hand sanitizer on the ink spots and will let it sit overnight. It can't hurt unless it eats a hole in the material but I can't wear them this way.
I could cry. DH said just go buy another pair. Yeah, I'll get right on that since I'm leaving town tomorrow morning and white RL shorts are nowhere to be found right now, not even on sale.

Have you tried oxy-clean? I'm not sure about ink but it works well on other stains.

Find nail polish remover with acetone. Sometimes it will all come out, other times it will leave a shadow. But it's cheap and worth a try.
Hair spray will work, but not all has the needed ingredients anymore. I'm not sure what that hairspray ingredient is, though. Does hair spray have acetone?

You can find white shorts at the LOFT, the Limited and Ann Taylor. Should be easy to find at the mall.
I recently went to a white party that had black lighting and my guy friend's all white outfit had splotches on it that showed where he had bleached it.

Hairspray and hand sanitizer works because of the alcohol. Try pure rubbing alcohol.

hand sanitizer, hair spray and other similar products work because it has alcohol in it. Skip the diluted alcohol and go for straight "rubbing alcohol" or a cheap vodka. Many inks are alcohol based so this "re-wets" them and they can then be washed out. But it doesn't work for all inks.
eta: alcohol won't eat holes in the fabric like bleach so you can let it soak without worry.

Try scrubbing the stains with oxyclean. I've been there. Had some success with this method. But mine were khaki pants. I'm not sure if it will work on white though.

I got ballpoint ink on a shirt of mine. I put hair spray on it. Then advanced shout. And I still had to wash it three times.

Let it sit overnight soaking in rubbing alcohol. I suggest putting it outside if possible so you don't have to smell it. We had a couple pens go through a whole loaf of lights, and ink got all over. A lot came out with first soak, then we washed (did not dry), then sailed again whatever needed it. Good luck.

Oxi-clean will help so much. Keep it soaked in water for now until you can get some. Once you let the stain dry it will be there forever. Soak the shorts in a scoop of Oxi-clean and hot, hot water overnight.

This just happened at my house on Sunday - it was ds white Hugo boss tshirt. I got the stain off the shirt with a combo of scrubbing bleach and oxyclean
The ink splotches all over my dryer came off so easily with magic eraser dipped in acetone
If bleach isn't working on your shorts try the acetone (and maybe magic eraser?)

Pure rubbing alcohol! My dd ruined a brand new dress when an ink pen exploded and she didn't realize it. It made a huge blotch in one place. I started with hand sanitizer, which took some of the stain out. Then tried alcohol, which worked great! I used most of one bottle, but it took 95% of the stain out. I got tired and have up on the rest but I feel sure the rest would have come out if I kept soaking and scrubbing.

Go to the store and get a can of aqua net hair spray. The arasol can. Spray it on there until it puddles. Let it stand for about 10 minutes. Then put your laundry soap on it lay it flat of a table or counter when doing this. use your finger nail gently to work the soap and hair spray into together. This will take it almost out then wash it. Do not dry it in the dryer until it is gone. The dryer will set it in.

If you don't want to soak it in the alcohol then do this, Put an old towel under the fabric then douse a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and dab at it, This will loosen the ink and push it through the fabric to the towel. Soaking never worked for me but this has always worked.

I used something called Zout on my white pants when they had a rust stain that would NOT come out, no matter what. It worked great. At this point, anything's worth a try.

I never heard of Carbona ink remover, but I was like you, OP, I tried every darn thing suggested when my son got ink on a marigold yellow RL shirt, and nothing budged it. But I did eventually wind up accidentally fading the yellow around the area that had the ink on it, so then the shirt was doubly destroyed. I hope some of the suggestions work better for you!

Cheap hairspray like Aquanet and a lot of scrubbing the spot with a toothbrush will work. My DS colored all over his uniform shorts with a red pen when he was in kindergarten and with some elbow grease it all came out.

You have to get the ink stain before they are washed so you may not be able to get it out now..sorry!
