The closest LSS to me is almost two hours away so not really all that local. There is a a hobby lobby with in 45 minutes and a michael's about an hour away but neither one of those has the latest and greatest stuff.
Sometimes I'll need just a few things and the online stores will want to charge priority shipping for the smallest of orders. Sometimes I get things from amazon but even that can be tricky because not all things qualify for Prime.
Where do you shop on-line that doesn't charge more for shipping than what you are buying?

A cherry on top is usually pretty reasonable if you're just getting a few things. Exceptions: 12x12 paper I think always gets bumped up to priority rates because of the size, and some of the other paper (6x6 pads especially) will be hit or miss. Some will keep you at a first class rate, but some (even though they are the same size) are apparently coded as heavier, and you end up with a priority rate, too.
But for most regular things, my shipping is often under $5.
ACOT often has shipping discounts, too-- like right now, if you use ONEDOLLAR, you'll get $1 off shipping for every $10 of stuff you buy. It's not a buge discount, but I always feel better with $3 shipping than $5 shipping.

When I'm not buying from the daily deal sites, I'll usually buy from ACOT also. I collect things in my cart, then when they have a sale, I'll place the order. They have sales that include reduced shipping fairly often, and the $1 off shipping for every $10 can cut the shipping by about half.

Have any other International Refupeas noticed a huge hike in ACOT's shipping rates? I used to occaisionally splurge and order from them, but WOW last time I put in a dummy order the rates were CRAZY. I was wondering if it was a once off weird order or if they have become that high?

Yeah, if you're not in a hurry, I'd do the bank-it option at www.ScrapbookGeneration.com Once you hit $75 in product, your order ships for free. It doesn't matter how many orders you place or how long it takes. They also pull your order right away, so you aren't at risk of it being sold out before your box ships or anything like that.

I just found this and love it. I get free shipping without filling my cart with things I don't really want.

I belong to Citrus Twist kit club and I can buy items from their store and it ships with my kit for free. I'm sure there might be a limit to it, as in if it won't fit in the kit box, but if I'm just getting a stamp set or some mists or something small, I'll get it from them to avoid paying shipping elsewhere.

I like Bluemoon too, they have free shipping after 50.00, Scrapbook Generations is great too, but they don't carry OA which is pretty much what I order! I think ACOT is very expensive, but I live on the west coast, I think that is why.

Um, yeah! It's almost 50% of my total sometimes! I only check my cart...then don't purchase...because of that. I appreciate the Simon Says Stamp shipping, and I love Paper Issues!!!

Thanks so much for sharing our Bank It shipping program at scrapbookgeneration.com! People love it. It's a way to never pay shipping again.
In case some of you are interested, here is the full info...
US customers - combine several small orders until you reach the $75 mark and qualify for free shipping! -- Go to the "Bank It with SG" category (found at the top left of your screen under the SG Exclusives heading). -- Add the Bank It Shipping item to your cart, and your order is processed with no shipping charge. -- We fill and hold the order until you have placed enough orders to reach the $75 free shipping threshold. (Monthly kit clubs do not count towards total. $75 total is after all discounts have been applied.) -- Your orders will automatically ship when you reach the $75 free shipping threshold - you don't have to do a thing!
International customers - combine several orders and ship them for one shipping fee. -- Place your initial order and enter the word "HOLD" in the comments section of the checkout (you will be charged shipping on this first order). -- For future orders, add the Bank It Shipping item to yur cart to remove shipping charges from your order. -- When you are ready for your orders to ship, email stacey@scrapbookgeneration.com to get your package on its way!

Imperial..I have noticed that as well. I usually stick with SSS or Ellen Hutson or direct from manufacturer...sites like lawn fawn or MFT often have cheaper shipping

i am in canada and so i am often looking for less expensive shipping options as well (though with the state of our dollar just now nothing seems less expensive--sigh); i have found SSS to be quite reliable though i wish they would sell single sheets of paper. i have never tried paper issues--has anyone ordered to canada from there?

I order from Paper Issues regularly. There is a discount code for 20% off (FACEBOOK20 I believe). She marks the customs value so that you don't get dinged. Shipping is $18 up to $60 (which I try to stay under just to feel less horrified at myself...) but the rate is determined AFTER the discount so you can actually load almost $75 into your card Have had no issues - comes quickly. And, if you join the facebook group, you get notified of sales on a regular bases (store-wide discounts; you just missed a %50 off sale!) I'm quite loyal at this point

Every time I go to Paper Issues to shop, they are out of what I came for. SSS has this problem frequently too. I do understand why they keep their inventory in check, though. I usually order new stuff from ACOT, primarily because I still like to order my 12x12 paper individually, and they ship very fast. Scrapbook Pal does free shipping over $25, which is awesome, but there's not much paper, mostly stamps, mixed media stuff. Same deal with Scrapbook Warehouse - the shipping is very cheap because they offer DHL.

I like ACOT for new stuff. For basics and great deals (especially on adhesive), I like scrapbookpal.com.

Shipping is just a fact of modern life.
I love scrapbook.com and simonsaysstamp.com
Both ship promptly and pack orders well. To me, that is as important as the cost of shipping. Sss gets to me 2 days after I order. I love that...and they have everything!
I don't pay sales tax so that's a 8.25 percent savings right there plus gas.
