i noticed one thread (i believe it was the thread to introduce documenter) where samantha refers to the company as a growing business and 'definitely not a sinking ship'...

Paid for and really BBBnot suprised at all. They have cancel my Planner Subscription and will be doint the same for Documeneter since they did tell me I will be getting for $1.00 which is paid for. I guess posting anything negative on their message board gets their attention. From the converstion I had with them "We certainly want to help you and we will be more than happy to cancel your Planner subscription free of any fees if you would like. You also currently have until November 23 at 11:59pm EST to cancel your Documenter Kit subscription free of any fees. This will give you a chance to try the Documenter kit and make a decision on whether or not you would like to keep your subscription.
Also, I wanted to let you know that your post on the message board was removed as it was conversational in nature and violates the Terms of Use."
Sorry but not everything is rainbows and unicorns.

The only kit I had considered keeping was the PL kit because I thought it was the best value and most consistent and would allow me to keep Rewards status. But the writing is on the wall for both the Documenter kit and the Rewards program so that makes it an easy decision for me. I believe more unfavorable changes are in the works. I had planned on staying through Dec., but with the new cancellation date of Nov. 23rd, this may just be my last kit. I've been getting these kits since 2010 so it will be weird. I spent several hours today completing my September in PL with my last SC kit, and started doing October from my stash. Felt so good! I'm happy that I'm slowly moving ahead and enjoying crafting again after being pissed off for past two, three months.

No idea what happened, but I tried to get into the Reveal chat today and couldn't see any chat at all. I'd type something and it wouldn't appear. This is the first time it's ever happened to me.. maybe a bug or maybe I'm banned from the chats now? LOL!

dawnnikol chat was weird for me too. It was lagging and non responsive. I ended up having to log off and log back in.

I was looking back on the various kits and it struck me how much the PL kit has changed over the years and not in a good way in my opinion. Take a look at this comparison photo I made. The first ever kit January 2013-Front Row look at the size of the stamp set, a true 3x4 stamp set. January 2014-Copper Mountain....the kit was PACKED! November 2014-Walden not a very popular kit on the whole, but the colors are more in line for a fall kit. November 2015-Canyonlands...barely anything to it, all flat embellishments, mostly paper, the kit lacks substance and the colors are way off for a fall kit. I really, truly hope that SC can turn this ship around and go back to it's roots so to speak. I know a lot of us are holding on by the tiniest thread...hoping for the best but I don't know how much more I can hold on. Also, taking into consideration that for the 2013 and 2014 kits our cost was 19.99, under the new sub model we will be paying 29.99 on the month to month plan, so I want to be wowed when I open up that box not meh, good enough. #notwinning #SCgetittogetheralready

However, if a company chooses a more expensive, non-recyclable form of packaging, I have to wonder if it's cause they're trimming costs elsewhere. Can you imagine putting Wink, Wink into the grey striped boxes? Or into the older style magnetic boxes? When I first started subbing, the magnetic box barely held my PL main. When they got rid of those, I noticed that I was able to add an add-on or two into the striped boxes. The main kit was that thin. Changing packaging yet again presents fewer, flatter items as being plentiful. It's the same tactic used when photographing the kits: artful staging.

Thanks piecesofme, I enjoyed looking through and spotting a few cards which are still there in my stash! I have a bundle of leftovers from different kits and audition them when I'm looking for something specific. The most familiar PL cards are those which keep coming out in the stash and yet never make the grade for some reason or another (like than mint green mountain 6 x 4 in the Walden kit - I think I need to paint over that one!) That pink/red diagonal stripe cut out 6x4 is another one which haunts me. Can I have your permission to put it in the rubbish bin?!

I never gave the packaging much thought, I loved the magnetic boxes and I also love the pouches, but you are 100% accurate, when I looked at the Copper Mountain kit ( I have an extra from a Black Friday Sale) it barely fits in the box. ugh. I wonder what January will bring, another reason there is no way I will commit to their ludicrous cancellation policy with 12 month sub, who knows what they will look like come March/April.

Thanks piecesofme. Wow, all the kits used to be a lot more packed. I agree with others - the main reason I'm not willing to continue my subs is because the quality of the kits has really nosedived in recent months and there's too much chopping and changing. I have no confidence as to minimum contents and just can't risk signing up to that cancellation policy. I like the new scrapbook pouches (more so than the PL size) but the money for those has to come from somewhere.

So glad so many of you joined over here! It really is a good board! I subbed to SC way back in 2007 and had a main kit sub until Underground then I just switched to PL and I periodically buy the 12x12 paper add-ons. The thing that has kept me a member so long is the stinking stamps, for the most part I love them, but recently they have been hit and miss. I loved my HIp Kit, but I really do miss the stamps. I like the Gossamer Blue stamps, wish I could add them to the Hip Kit!
@abragg I used to use a different kitty for each online account and sometimes the cat's name. When the old Two Peas went away I switched to the avatar that matched my name and switched all my message board names to Skellinton to make it easier for me to remember. Boy, that sounds like I am a MB floozy, but it is really just SC, a few Disney boards, and here. I am looking at Felicity Jane as well for a kit sub since she does have stamps, but I am not sure I want a kit with all exclusives. I like getting different manufactures because it keeps me from buying entire lines (except for OA, I will always buy their entire line when and if they come out!)Sigh stamps...I noticed One little Bird designs for Gossamer Blue...that was kind of drawing me in. I was also looking at Felicity Jane but not sure the fit/style of her papers is right for me. I actually am not one that minds all exclusives, it means I won't have already bought the products hehehe. MB Floozy made me LOL... You and me Skellinton OA 'til the end, right? If only OA had a kit club...but then again they are so poorly organized it would be a fiasco. I did just order the Summertime Collection pack, and have been busy playing with Treasure Map so I am a pretty happy OA camper. Funny fact! OA started out as a kit club!! I can't remember what it was called but they were designing their own stamps that were in the kits. Just as I went to sub to them, they went on hiatus and it turns out that's when the owners started October Afternoon.

I am dispute it with my bank and have try to cancel the planner one from the start. I am very unhappy with thier customer service. Why the hell don't they have a phone number listed like every company on the internet. I am wondered how their BBB score is and will be checking it out. Don't hire more people for a job that isn't needed, it seems that cs needs the people more than marketing. I posted on their Instagram and will do it on their message board.I am tazmom on all social media. This. It's sad when a company that was doing so well can't seem to sustain that level of success. It's even sadder that they can't recognize areas of genuine need (i.e., CS). They're all about the band-aid solutions. What they really need is more people doing quality assurance/quality control and inventory management. Improving these areas would greatly reduce the need for CS staff (and save some shipping/replacement costs)!

And that side-by-side comparison is just sad. I have noticed the flatness of the kits, too, over the past six months as well as how empty my boxes had become. Paper and stickers cost a lot less to manufacture than bulkier embellishments, as a general rule, but there are still some that are inexpensive like flair, chipboard, puffy stickers, enamel dots, etc. I'd like to blame this on the infamous results of a survey but I don't recall ever being asked if I wanted a "flat" kit. I'd really like to see some new items from the Essentials line that was so popular, in different shapes and different colors, show up in the kits. The price point on those were good.

Well I have been thinking of getting a kit for months, thus all my questions on the board, and went to reveal today, and can't get a look/find the shipping kit. I can only imagine others that aren't familiar with the site....it's hard to find anything. That with cancellation fee, I think GB or CT are the way to go....and I subbed for many years in past.....
Most stores have a search or a way to crossreference things but not this one. So horrible to navigate

The indexing and search features in the shop don't work properly and the way it's set up is just confusing! If you want an SC sub you have to start here and choose 12 month, 6 month or month to month term: www.studiocalico.com/how-it-worksThe most recent stuff in the shop is here. There were only 3 add-on kits this month - an embellishment kit (Redstone) and two with Christmas themed stuff (Highlands for PL and Big Spring). www.studiocalico.com/shop?sort=new

I also recall a ton of posts about how people were sick of sequins, buttons, twine, ribbon, and to a far lesser extent, veneer banners. That said, customer requests are CLEARLY not the only factor - customers have been extremely vocal about color scheme preferences for less pink pretty consistently for 1-2 a years, and it's rare that a kit doesn't include a fair amount. (I LOVE pink, but even *I* can empathize with this complaint.)

Like refunding my money for a class they told me that I could finish as long as I stayed off the message boards (which I did), yet deleted my account before the class was over. And sending me the files for the class that they kind of let me finish, but I didn't download because I thought I had one more class to go. And seriously at 2 pm, I got another promo email. And the "SC" ship may not sink, but I am willing to bet that in a year or less, the scrapbook kit club portion of SC will be gone. Look at how few add ons they had today.

The biggest change I notice is that now, instead of getting a full roll of washi tape, we get a 4x6 set of stickers. I have yet to finish a single roll of washi tape, so I wouldn't mind this transition so much if it seemed the value was being made up elsewhere. Such as including *all* the alphas pictured in the kit photo, rather than only one! This also reminds me of what a great kit Copper Mountain was all around. I actually think it was a much better value than the original PL kit, even though the stamp is smaller.

I hope they plan on refunding your money. Did they say they would? I really, truly think SC's gonna be in trouble come the beginning of 2016, and I'm sticking with that. I don't know how long even the die hard fans are gonna hang in there. I've seen a couple that have stood out to me as very rah rah over the years make some less than positive comments/reviews over the past several months. Also, SC seems to have a pretty big employee turnover. It must suck to work for them, and those employees know/see what goes on over there. SC of today is nothing like SC of yesterday, and it's going to continue to change. They may be growing, but not as a leader in the scrapping industry anymore. And if they want to brag about growing, they ought to get a grip on handling their growth because they're all kinds of messed up over there. If they think bait and switch, lower quality, lower quantity, no quality control, will let them continue to grow, I think they're sadly mistaken.

Since I have already professed my love for those foiled leaves in the kits this month, thought I would see if anyone who still subs might help a pea out. If there is a double up for subbers tomorrow, I would happily buy them from someone! I liked them, too so I made some. If you'd like I could send you a bunch. Those are awesome. Never let myself even look at the minc... Would have come in handy for that for sure! I would love some if it isn't too much trouble. My CD kit for November is growing on me... But I think I am gonna have to dig into my stash and do a more traditional fall spread for Thanksgiving.

I personally like a little dimension so maybe I just skipped over those posts. When a kit is all flat like that, though, it doesn't look like much to me. I guess it doesn't really matter, though, because I will never be buying another one at $30 a pop.

I may just have to subscribe to Cocoa Daisy. I really like what I've been seeing!

On flat embellishments - I am one who prefers flat to bulky especially in PL - BUT the overall number of embellishments is down and like you said the cost is up $10 for month to month. …. counting them one month i counted 10 - this month you would be hard pressed to find 6 or 7.
I really wanted to buy the scrapbook kit but I just can't justify the cost….

Dang-I hate when I'm wrong.

I think the reason the search feature doesn't work is because there isn't enough words in the description. My free account of Evernote even pulls from words inside notes to help me find what I'm looking for. A powerful website should do the same or even more. If you go look at descriptions on scrapbook.com, even the cheapest of items have descriptions on them. Many of the descriptions on SC are sparse or missing.

If they think bait and switch, lower quality, lower quantity, no quality control, will let them continue to grow, I think they're sadly mistaken."

You both make very valid points! DinCA I actually have noticed that many people post on the messageboard about how they want flat embellishments for PL. (I LOVE pink, but even *I* can empathize with this complaint.) I've read the same thing, imo the majority wants flat embellishments in their project life. Shoot many people over the past two decades have resisted "lumpy" scrapbooks. However, SC is thinning kits by amount of product, not thickness of it.
