Not sure about PL type subs. I tried Gossamer Blue for a few months and that was definitely too floral for me. Citrus Twist, Paper Camellia & Cocoa Daisy all have PL typesubs though tend to offer more patterned paper than journaling cards. I've been mostly happy with the SC PL kit though I do think it's getting thinner. I've made the decision to stop my monthly PL album next year and do something a bit different so will cancel my PL sub but keep going with Ali's Story Kit and focus more on stories - both with regular layouts and pocket pages. I was actually toying with the idea of using Ali's story kits to scrap 2016. Each month I'd let the kit's theme drive what I scrap vs trying to make it fit with the monthly happenings in real life and the newest SC kits. I wouldn't even need a traditional PL sub since I could supplement the Story Kit cards with stuff from my stash and do more 9x12 layouts with longer stories. Thanks for the idea. It really helped me solidify what's been floating around in my head. Ali said she is thinking about a journaling card add on.

Great mind think alike, right I looked back on my PL spreads and realised I'm taking the same kind of pics each month - and even though I went with monthly to feel less pressure, I still feel like I 'should' complete X number of spreads though perhaps not much happened that month. The Story Kit has got me excited about using a thematic vs chronological approach and mixing things up a bit.

I've got a rather large stash of cards now and usually just print my journaling on those or scraps of cardstock.

I subbed again for the mega stamp and just sent in my cancellation convo. Yep, FOMO is a big thing with them, but i will stop all kits for now. My wallet will thank me, and when I shop, it will be from someone who actually wants my money and not from someone whom I have to beg to take my money.

I try to capture the quieter moments too, but I don't stress about it. It takes the pressure off and I love the variety. Plus Ali's kits are usually very flexible and adaptable! For 2016 I wanted to switch to a bigger album but the 9x12 page protectors feel too big, and I'm not crazy about depending on SC to get them :/

For 2015, i have taken notes and photos and have yet to put a single one in an album. Why? It's all pretty much like last year and the year before. How many albums like this do I really want? I did WITL and am enjoying getting those photos and stories in a PL-style layout. They capture what my life was like in the summer of 2015 and it's good and enough. For 2016, I may go the story route, too.

Started a conversation to cancel my PL sub yesterday! Ready to be done with SC.
I really like Scraptastic's "PL" kit...it's more expensive, but packed with stuff.

Who's to say that AC won't get on board next year? I find that 9x12 (pockets) gives enough space to combine photos, journaling, and some filler/decorative cards for a themed or event based layout. What size are you currently using for your PL? I'd suggest trying out a spread or two in 9x12 and see if it's workable for you before deciding. The other album option is cutting down an AC modern album because they use the standard three ring system inside.

Hello all, another former SC PL subber here, posting for the first time having been reading since the SC hoo hah began and agreeing with so much that's been written here. I was going to stick with it until December but was getting so cross with the manner in which they were behaving, I decided to cancel before my August kit was sent and place a sub with Citrus Twist instead. I'm in Gloucestershire, UK, by the way. I just thought I'd share my delight with my new (August) CT PL kit and the first class and oh so personal customer service from Trina. My first kit arrived promptly, with a small welcome gift (a little bag of rubber stamps and embellishments) and I now am rather pleased those SC actions made me look elsewhere. Yes, I liked the SC designs but oh, there are so many better choices out there! (thanks to everyone here for sharing the details of alternative PL subs - doing the research was fun!) I'm looking forward to working with a different product, to a fresh style and to getting my 13th kit free

My wallet will thank me, and when I shop, it will be from someone who actually wants my money and not from someone whom I have to beg to take my money. Do you mean the date stamp? I just went online and bought the dang thing without a sub. I do not for the life of me understand that company or the mindset of some of the people posting who act semi hysterical ("I am totally gutted") when they didn't get something. I do not get their previews that only show you some things and expect you buy a kit based on a few things. I don't get that you have to travel around their site like crazy to see what a design team member might be teasing you with in order to get you to buy something. I think I am too impatient or left brained or whatever to go to that site. I would love to be in one of their staff meetings and actually listen to what they say about their product and customers. I am guessing it isn't nice.

I got a response to my conversation about canceling. I've been a subber for 2+ years and all it said was "I got you all set. Hope to see you back sometime soon!"
Ugh. Why do I even care?

I felt the same when I quit after 2+ years and spending lots of money....they just don't care.....and with distance ....I'm like WTH... I would never have put up with that service from another company....
I'm still intrigued as to whether they are still making money, but I'm glad I don't sub there. If something comes up that I like I'll see if it's still available for non subbers ...but if it's not. Cest la vie.
I've since ordered from neat and tangled and ordered some pink fresh items.....happy so far

I agree with you. It makes more sense to sell extra kits piecemeal than sitting on them or selling off as grab bags. As a customer, I'm happy since I can buy the "exclusives" for a few bucks vs the whole kit for $30. Gone are the days when kits sold out in minutes and grab bags didn't exist (because they didn't have the stock on hand to offer to customers). The frequency at which past kits are discounted is very telling. Long-time customers are speaking with their wallets.

I think the only place where I have been treated as poorly (and was so hard to give my money to) was the IRS. The difference there was that I HAD to pay the IRS where I don't have to give a damn thing to SC. It should be fun to spend my money on hobby items! Madness that I allowed it to continue for so long!

First of all, thank you to everyone here for making this thread the most entertaining thing I read each day Second, thank you for all the great alternatives suggested to shopping at THAT company. I just received a big box of goodies from Elle's Studio. International shipping was $8.00 with a discount code and it arrived in Australia in just 12 days, not the usual 21-35 days for SC. Clearly Elle doesn't use Mail Innovations! Third, my package contained a note thanking me for being a valued customer and it actually felt like the sentiment was genuine. I am waiting on happy mail from a couple of other companies and so far, I love the change.

I asked myself the same thing. I still don't know why I cared so much. Yup, me too. I was a subber for almost 2.5 years, spending at least $99 every month (for the free shipping). I spent my entire scrappy budget there, save for the odd adhesive/cardstock purchase from M's, and I got a canned response as well. It was really upsetting that they didn't value me as much as I valued them.

Well, I did it. Just update my convo about canceling to say that I'm done with the SB Kit. I watched the preview video again and was seriously turned off of the papers they featured. And the specialty paper is grade-school easy to replicate myself. It's just stars! Letting go of my PL sub will be harder because I do like most of what's in my kit each month and I really like the preview system SC started. Any suggestions for other PL clubs that are similar in style? I'm not into cutesy, juvenile or vintage kits. Have you looked at Scraptastic's "This life noted" kits? I really want to check out scraptastic's Kit but their website is down right now! I'm going crazy because that kit sounds great!

If you Google it in the images section, you can see past kits. ETA: Also, if you go on You Tube, there is a lady who showcases all kinds of kits. Her name is: CreateScrapbooks. It's a great way to get a feel for many kits. And no shaky camera with auto focus issues.

Their new site is supposed to be up soon, of you song up for their newsletter you can see sneaks. I actually decided to try them this month over CT just because of the flair in their sneak pictures. They also have free shipping over a certain amount which is a huge plus for me. they are super quick to respond! Email and ask for a sneak peak or images of their past kits. I think you will be impressed.

I know Archivers doesn't have much in the exclusive category, but I got my card kit from them yesterday and it had a good amount of stuff, AND it had four rubber stamp collections. Two of the packs were 4 x 8" and the other two were 3 x 4". There were 44 clear stamps in this kit. It also had eight pieces of paper and two "placemats". There were three or four other packs of things with it. I think it was all Jillibean Soup. You have to provide your own white card stock base. The kit makes 8 different cards, but I think you could easily get double or more than that.

"But you guys can't complain that we [insert ridiculous new change here] - we FIXED the message boards!!! We're AWESOME! Bow down to us and our amazing marketing decisions!"
