Just wondering where you live. I grew up in Omaha and went to college in Lincoln. Me, too! I grew up in Omaha (Millard), and went to UNL for one year before moving to Chicago. Small world!

I cancelled my sub after the last kit and I am so glad. I obviously really let go at the end because I didn't even realize today was Preview until I saw the email in my inbox. I went to check it out and was just reaffirmed about my decision. Now to hear that they are still putting out misinformation makes me even more relieved that I am not dealing with that frustration. The only thing I miss is the message board. I still check in, but don't post much - it isn't very active anymore. The board is so quiet. Sad actually. I think everyone is afraid to post.

I think so. Last month mine came first class as well. I hate mail innovations because it always adds an extra day or two onto the process. I'm hopeful mine shows up today. It left Omaha at 4 am but the tracking says it won't be delivered until Tuesday. I'm 40 minutes away from Omaha... Just wondering where you live. I grew up in Omaha and went to college in Lincoln. I live in Waverly! My brother and his family as well as my SIL, her husband and my MIL & FIL all live in Omaha. Very small world!

I agree with both of you. The boards are difficult lately. I join in once in awhile but mostly just read. I think people are afraid to post unless it's shiny and happy.

So, I realized today that something freeing has happened since I've been unsubbed from SC. The September kits will be my second kit away from them. Last month, with Pop Art, I still felt little pangs of sadness and annoyance as my principles fought my desire to have the pretty stuff (and that damn FOMO). I was still bitter and angry.
But today? I look at the preview video and I'm unimpressed. The add-ons on the site don't do anything for me. The CT gallery is nice and makes me want that gold puffy alpha that's in the SB kit (it's so pretty) but not enough to fall back into their hooks. I read through the thread where people are listing out the things they snagged at the preview sale and it's sad. So many people are sad. There are a few trying to be positive but, for the most part, people's posts seem sad.
But it's so nice to not feel like I HAVE to buy anything and I love that I don't have to earmark my money for SC purhcases! FOMO (fear of missing out) is relied upon heavily at SC, I believe, and it's so freeing to not have that feeling!
It took a little more than a month...and a few weeks away from the boards over there...but it IS possible to detox from SC and once you do, it's a wonderful feeling!

Oh, and I also cancelled my Story Kit sub. Not because of anything negative or anything - I just need to take a couple months off of kits purchases so I can save some money for a new phone. But, I am still flabbergasted at how Ali has the same customer service as SC because it is night and day different. After I sent my cancellation to SC, the canned response I received may as well have said, "don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out." But the response from Ali actually asked for feedback and thanked me for being part of the community. Even though THAT was probably canned as well, it still felt genuine and made me feel like I was valued.
So crazy.

I didn't see anything there that I had to have & those preview videos annoy the cr@p,out of me. I've been thinking about it all weekend & thought if I woke up this morning (Mon. here) & still felt the same way, I'd leave now rather than end of the year. I'm sad, but I've had enough. I think my 12 month commitment with Ali's kit is over (I subbed with the first one) I started a convo last night asking about that as well. I'd like to keep it going until my commitment on the stamp kit is over, so I have them both til the end, like I do know.

I guess Ali is imposing different requirements on CS because she's so concerned about her brand and reputation compared to the 'don't care/do what I want' attitude that comes through loud and clear from SC.

Goodness, it seems crazy to me that there are problems Every. Single. Time.they release something. Errors on pricing, items not being avaiable, things being added late, etc, etc. Crazy. I must say that video was still awful, showcased practically nothing and what I did see didn't interest me the slightest little bit. what a complete clusterphoque.

Just browsing the web this morning, & I see there are new announcements about different collaborations they are working on (Brene Brown & the ?baby boy bakery). Not sure where they're headed, or if they are just branching out, but I'm out. Think I might hold off on any new subs too, & just use up some of my (not insignificant) stash. This place is now my new SBing home.

Just saw the comment from several card kit subbers that they lost rewards status with the kit finishing - no opportunity to switch rewards to another sub. Another low blow. Wanna bet they've got the same thing planned for the other kits?

Wanna bet they've got the same thing planned for the other kits? That's awful. And the sickening part is card subbers often are multiple kit subscribers. If they qualify for rewards status under their PL or SB sub, I hope their status should be transferred to the other kit automatically. I'm thinking after my last SB Kit next month, that sub is history and I don't know if I'll convert my PL one in December. I was waiting to see if things got better but even I'm not that hopeful. With all the cost saving measures on the other kits, and the ever thinning PL one, I can only image the changes in the new year once were locked in.

This place is now my new SBing home. Yes, it is strange. Acquiring AE, BPC and even ABM makes sense as they are in the paper crafting and memory keeping industry. Collaborating with Jacqui with the Baby Boy Bakery is strange since, for the best of my knowledge, she was mainly a food blogger. It's a weird partnership. As is the Brene Brown one...she's a motivational speaker, no? I've noticed there have been a lot of collabs lately with the "feel good" people. Crossing over and making "craft supplies" with their stuff. It's just a weird way to branch out the company, in my opinion. It would be like my bakery partnering and collaborating with...well, something that's not related to a bakery or foodservice in general. I agree with you about this being my new SB "home"...I like it here and I'm enjoying the threads I'm participating in and I'm working on uploading my projects in the gallery here. It feels good. And like I said above, it DOES feel good to not be tied to a sub right now!

And the response from Catherine Davis saying that they'll have add on items in the shop for card makers, but like myself, I bet a lot of the card makers canceled their subs because the new kit is a stationary kit, not a card kit. How does any of this make any sense? It's talking in circles over at SC.

How does any of this make any sense? It's talking in circles over at SC. I know - they won't answer the question directly. However, I'm going to guess that anyone can purchase these add-ons come reveal time like you can with any of the add-ons for the other kits. Even without a subscription. Right now, I can buy any of the Pop Art add ons in the shop for any of the kits. I don't know why they won't just say that instead of, like you said, talking in circles. So, so annoying.

I really liked the Simon Says Stamp card kits back in my card-making days. They're $30 (or $25 for subscribers) and are packed. Here's September's kit. Not sure if Kristina Werner is still heavily involved with them, but her YouTube channel is a goldmine for card makers.

The talking in circles and double-speak is a classic way to keep the undecided hanging around. And as long as they're still waiting and watching, there's a greater than good chance they'll spend money before they reach their breaking point and walk for good. I'm (sadly) speaking from experience.

Well, I did it. Just update my convo about canceling to say that I'm done with the SB Kit. I watched the preview video again and was seriously turned off of the papers they featured. And the specialty paper is grade-school easy to replicate myself. It's just stars!
Letting go of my PL sub will be harder because I do like most of what's in my kit each month and I really like the preview system SC started. Any suggestions for other PL clubs that are similar in style? I'm not into cutesy, juvenile or vintage kits.

I tried Gossamer Blue for a few months and that was definitely too floral for me. Citrus Twist, Paper Camellia & Cocoa Daisy all have PL typesubs though tend to offer more patterned paper than journaling cards. I've been mostly happy with the SC PL kit though I do think it's getting thinner. I've made the decision to stop my monthly PL album next year and do something a bit different so will cancel my PL sub but keep going with Ali's Story Kit and focus more on stories - both with regular layouts and pocket pages.

It's amazing they had time to delete that thread, but not to answer my question about the Typewriter add on or to answer the conversation I started. They are so lucky that they have Creative Team members that are willing to do their jobs for them. They are so freaking incompetent. And I can't watch that stupid preview video. I can't stand April's face or her voice. Just makes me want to scream and punch her through my computer.

I was actually toying with the idea of using Ali's story kits to scrap 2016. Each month I'd let the kit's theme drive what I scrap vs trying to make it fit with the monthly happenings in real life and the newest SC kits. I wouldn't even need a traditional PL sub since I could supplement the Story Kit cards with stuff from my stash and do more 9x12 layouts with longer stories. Thanks for the idea. It really helped me solidify what's been floating around in my head.
