Another card making class?!?!?!!? So do we have time for it or not? You know, I would have had a lot more respect for SC if they had come out and said "we don't have enough subscribers for the card kit to be viable" or "we cannot sustain the card kit at the current price" or "the card kit does not fit our profit model" or whatever the REAL reason is they ditched it. But to say "no one has time to make cards anymore" was a slap in the face to us cardmakers. And now to come out with classes? Well, this cardmaker doesn't have time for their classes. I'm too busy making cards. I'm not really a cardmaker and I didn't have a card sub, but I checked out the Stationery reveal by the CT and it seems they aren't fully on board. There were two envelopes stamped, and one pre-made card with a tag added to it, and the rest were cards made using the add-on stamps and dies.

Got another email today. They have extended their Labor day sale. They´re really having problems getting rid of the kits! I remember when those kits were gone in a few minutes, not too long ago either. I find it so strange that SC just does´t care that people are leaving. I don´t understand and it´s really bothering me.. WHY?

I think the writing is on the wall with them when the new subscription policy comes up in January. I will not commit to them for that hefty cancellation fee. I didn't have the problem making that commitment to Ali, because I trust her. I trust that she isn't going to let her kits go to crap. She is also very consistent in what she puts in her kits, so most everything in it I am probably going to like. Not like that with SC anymore. They take out big components of the kit, throw in dollar store doilies, washi tape. UGH. I'm over it. I think the lowest price tier is pushing it, so I definitely will not pay more for the PL kit so I don't have to be committed to them. Even though I have been committed to them for almost the last 8 years. Where is SC's commitment to me?!?!?!? I wish they just had a PL card add-on where I could just get the printed cards. But watch them say in a few months…nobody has time for PL!

THIS. That was exactly my reasoning behind joining Ali's sub and dropping SC. I also think her passion comes across as helping others preserve their memories--she's genuinely interested in helping people do that. SC's passion comes across as wanting to be trendy and make money. To quote my favorite movie, "You may judge which motive is the more reliable!"
Despite the downturn in subbers and the path SC seems to be on, I was shocked those kits didn't sell out.

Any predictions about how long before there is an email with a "start a new sub get a free kit/add-on/grab bag offer"?! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall down there after those sales went up... And every day since when they are all still sitting there. You think they get it yet?

I think there's one on the website now - first month for $1? Anyway totally agree with you aggiebonfire00 and mdith4him. Ali's kits are much more reliable and I trust her to be consistent. There have been far too many changes with SC kits particularly in recent months.

That sounds like it could be a great option for you if all you want is the cards.

When I look at the amount of cutting, layering and embellishing on some of the CT layouts I have to laugh. Ain't no one got time for that.

I think all the classes seem to be going the BPC route with videos rather than downloadable PDFs, and the content is getting thinner as well. I've done a few classes now and apart from the Sketched Bundle which was such a good deal, wouldn't take any more. I prefer to save my pennies for someone like Ali. everyone was always asking for more videos. I always saw that as a request/comment anytime SC asked for feedback. I think the video-heavy class format is entirely a result of that. That because SC listens to their customers!! Oh wait.....wrong board.

I felt comfortable signing up for the commitment with Ali b/c she had already posted all of words for the year (or nearly so) when I signed up. Plus, her customer service, great design, and quality educational content are well-established with me. I wouldn't commit sight-unseen to many others, especially if quality and content continue to change.

I am just stunned that they still have kits for sale. I find it amusing how they are acting like they are being benevolent by extending the sale when we all know it is because they just haven't sold out yet. They can't exactly take them off sale and expect to sell them at full price. I got an offer this weekend to sub and get my first month for $1.00, that offer has been coming through almost since I cancelled. No other kit club has been having such offers, have they?
Did they ever announce the "winners" of their illegal contest?

I keep checking because, well , free alphas! But no...

Are they that desperate? I understand this situation less and less as the time passes.

Hey girls--I'm here! Jhenry4 from SC, my name is Julie so I made that my name!
I unsubbed to card the day minute they announced the stationary kit. I unsubbed to my SB kit the day after bundling ended, the day my 6 months was up--on Monday. Today I unsubbed to PL, 3 months early (I did the extend your sub for the free kit with black spray and labels and 2 doilies). None of those times did they ask any questions or say they were sorry to see me go. One of them them gave this response: "Alright! I cancelled it for you. Have fun with Project Life and let us know if we can ever help you with anything else. Thank you, Katherine " I found it to be a hair terse but oh well. I'm taking my money elsewhere. They've crossed so many lines. As a business owner myself it disgusts me. They took all the joy out of scrapbooking with their hatefulness on the boards. Happy to find you guys!!

Hi @juliehenry4 we are so glad you are here with us! This is a fabulous community. You will recognize many friends here, I am sure. I was so sorry for you card makers what a slap in the face that whole stationery kit was. Anyway, feel free here, everyone here is lovely and warm and honest. Enjoy.

Hi ladies! I missed a lot this weekend, it looks like (was really sick all weekend ). My Labor Day sale hasn't shipped yet but it did change to packing late yesterday afternoon. That's pretty sad considering I'm a domestic non-subscriber. To get switched to packing the first day of shipping? Wow. Hi @juliehenry4 welcome to these boards! They are pretty awesome - lots of great discussions (outside of bitching about SC) and great challenges. A really great, supportive community. Enjoy!

It humors me how ballsy they are. And to think they can try and get away with telling people they've missed the cut off date when they are pulling the stalling techniques. Just, wow.

You'll feel better about all the cancellations soon. It's rough the first month following it all. But, the "freedom" you'll feel come the October reveal? I guarantee you'll be happy to see all that money IN your bank account. Also, it's not surprising you didn't get a "are you sure" to your cancellations. Like me and a few others, you haven't exactly been "quiet" about your disdain to the way they run their business. They've made it abundantly clear they do not like those of us who have been vocal. The people who haven't really spoke up are the ones getting the "are you sure" messages. Absolutely ridiculous.

I just got a canned response because someone realized it might be in bad form to just say "good riddance!" JHenry, Canceling won't be as bad as you think, once you are no longer beholden to them you can really see how thin and disjointed the kits are. I have not regretted for a second canceling my sub and I don't doubt for a second there will be sales on recent kits very soon. If there is something you like you will most likely be able to pick it up cheaper in a month or so!

I just found you guys too (although I have been on NSBR forever). I've dropped all but one kit and I think this month is it. Will wait until it arrives (and check it twice) and then will cancel. I am going to Kon Mari SC... they don't spark joy for me anymore.
