Happy dance with me! I'm canceling my PL subscription. Received the first "are you sure" email. Told them I was well aware of the "consequences" and to just cancel it. I feel a huge weight lifted from me!!!

I think what's really going to be "telling" is when those of us who have cancelled start receiving "come back and save 'x' on your first month!" offers. I won't be surprised when it happens, if it does.
I cancelled on Jenny Craig years ago and I still get a couple emails a year and at least one phone call trying to lure me back.

But, the "freedom" you'll feel come the October reveal? I guarantee you'll be happy to see all that money IN your bank account. Also, it's not surprising you didn't get a "are you sure" to your cancellations. Like me and a few others, you haven't exactly been "quiet" about your disdain to the way they run their business. They've made it abundantly clear they do not like those of us who have been vocal. The people who haven't really spoke up are the ones getting the "are you sure" messages. Absolutely ridiculous. What's special about the October reveal? Also, they must have taken note of certain members after that epic thread this summer! I think it got about 1000+ comments?

I'm down to just a PL sub, which is actually a friend's sub (we subbed together to avoid double shipping costs). Anyway, after reconciling my credit card statement, I noticed a discrepancy with the PL charge. My credit card is charged 25.48 (that's the 25.99 with the .51 discount provided through the end of the year). But if I look at my order at SC, the charge is for 24.46. Just another instance of a SC mess up.

Oh, nothing special....just getting through that first reveal after cancelling? It's rough. She just cancelled after September so come October, she won't have any more subs. Once that happens, and she sees all the money in her bank account, it's not going to feel so sad. And, yes, I do believe they probably did take note of certain members after all the hoopla this summer. Especially those of us who may or may not have said very pointed things to April.

That's why I haven't bought extras because I figured they'd "accidentally" forget my items.

I think I missed it! The one right after they sent out the email about the NEW site with price increases in tiny print at the bottom. No one knew anything. It was total chaos and rob boye got ugly and members got ugly. However, robs no longer there so I personally think they threw him out to the wolves (us), then fired him.

You'll feel better about all the cancellations soon. It's rough the first month following it all. But, the "freedom" you'll feel come the October reveal? The people who haven't really spoke up are the ones getting the "are you sure" messages. Absolutely ridiculous. They certainly didn't question my canceling! I just got a canned response because someone realized it might be in bad form to just say "good riddance!" JHenry, Canceling won't be as bad as you think, once you are no longer beholden to them you can really see how thin and disjointed the kits are. I have not regretted for a second canceling my sub and I don't doubt for a second there will be sales on recent kits very soon. If there is something you like you will most likely be able to pick it up cheaper in a month or so! I'm not even sad! I am mad at myself for being suckered. I can get similar stuff for way less money elsewhere without all the un professionalism.

How so gigi? Just wondering in case I need to be prepared. Sending several are you sure messages back when you cancel and then telling people they have missed the cut off point even though their original request to cancel was within the time Absolutely appalling. Thanks for the headsup as I need to cancel both my subs after Nov shipping.

Also, just an inquiry here because I'm curious as to what other's thinking on this is - it seems to me that the main CT is much less diverse in terms of style tcurrently, and that most of them tend to be white-background, semi-minimalist embellishing scrappers - I wondering if that has any influence on the lighter kits - ie, the CT wasn't having any difficulty making layouts with main kits because they don't usually use a ton of embellishments/products? (Not blaming them, just curious as to if anyone else thinks that might have an effect on SC corporate's perception of the kits?)
Alternately, do any of you think that the desire to pare down the kits might be part of why scrappers that specialize in semi-minimalism were selected as this year's CT?
For what it's worth, I *do* think that Brooke Takara was a FABULOUS addition to the semi-regular CT, because she seems to be very skilled at getting lots of diverse layouts using mostly the main kit. I feel similarly about Ginny Huges. However, I'm really curious as to what sort of main kit only layouts someone with a more heavily embellished style - such as Jen Jockish or Christine Middlecamp - would be creating with these kits...

I personally think the CT is just using what they’re given. Since the embellies decreased then minimalist layouts would have been a result of that. SC calls the shots, CT follows. Paring down the kit contents is an issue of money (higher margin). Christine Middlecamp would probably have an aneurysm—this is so not her style. If she were doing SC, I’d be guessing she’d ask for ALL the add-ons on top of the main. There was a time I followed her (Crate Paper?) and I figured one layout of hers would have cost upwards of $20+ if one were to duplicate it.

I'll tell you what's sad. Remember back in March when they took two pieces of paper to give a specialty paper? And some they'd rather they take the cardstock and now, they've done it. Took two sheets of cardstock. For me that was what made me cancel my last sub and take the penalty. Two sheets of cardstock.

I agree about Christine Middlecamp, but I mention her because a) she is, in my mind, a genius of maximialism, and b) she was on the SC DT eons ago! I also LOVE this layout she did (although it's also white-space heavy) that was main kit mostly for SC a few years ago: crate.typepad.com/.a/6a00e55210ddf588340147e2366f4e970b-pi

If the SC customers had given fair notice of cancelling then they did NOT order the merchandise they received.

I'm no authority by any means, but that seems like it's entering dangerous territory legally - if multiple people are disputing charges from one vendor, won't that trigger an investigation of some sort, possibly by the BBB ? Or am I completely wrong here?

This is what I think as well, though I agree many CT members are miminalist scrappers in general (Marcy, Stephanie) but Jamie Waters is not so much yet even her LO's are pretty minimal and I'm going to guess it's because of what's available to her. What's funny is that I, personally, scrap pretty minimally (embellishment challenged) but I"m always drawn to and inspired by the bright, full and colorful layouts. So I do like to see more diversity on creative teams.
