Hello ladies, So anyone notice no plastic pouch with the Documenter Kit for October? Does anyone have any insight on this? I have been receiving this kit for over 5 years and have always received it in plastic pouch, why stop now? Haven’t read other responses yet but I was a little irritated too! Just been too busy to address it. No explanation anywhere that I can see. An email would have been nice

I emailed them about the pouch and a missing set of leaves and they're shipping them...
Then tonight I finally opened up my Christmas TN. I ordered it thinking I'll cut the pages for inserts in DD. The notebook was sealed in a clear plastic envelope but one if the pages has an oil stain that goes through to the other side. I hate that you literally have to check EVERYTHING! How does one single page get an oil stain?! And of course it's a page that I really like both sides that area ruined.

This is off topic but I have no where else to ask this kind of question. And this is our common room after all.
What is a feminist scrapbooker? I don’t understand.
Someone who scraps about female political issues?
This has been puzzling me since listening to the Crafty Ass Female podcast. I basically just can’t figure out what makes them a different scrapbooker from me? They look like they scrap about their life like I do? Does that make me a feminist scrapbooker?

I'm sorry, but anytime I see anyone call themselves a "feminist" lately, it seems very trendy. I'm not knocking it or what they believe, but it seems like a buzz word lately.

I'm sorry, but anytime I see anyone call themselves a "feminist" lately, it seems very trendy. I'm not knocking it or what they believe, but it seems like a buzz word lately. I think they're just using the term 'feminist' for branding purposes. It's all about body positivity, a lot of open talk about anxiety, LGBTQ-friendly, etc. I fail to understand the feminist aspect of most of their work as well. It's just the usual "you be you" empowerment stance with a touch of "but I'm a childfree millennial" flair. And I say this as a feminist, childfree millennial. Being a feminist doesn't mean everything you do or touch has to be branded feminist. But oh well. It seems like they've found their niche. I find them pretty harmless albeit annoying and terrible, TERRIBLE interviewers and podcast hosts. The KP episode reminded me how self-involved they are and how bad they are at selling their guest's brand and products (could they have been more obvious?). Kristin was still all about Kristin. Amanda was just hanging out in the background. Kelly was probably grateful when the conversation ended. Did anybody finish the Caylee Grey episode? If so, worth the listen or will I end up wanting to rip my eardrums and brain out?

I remember back in 2013/14-ish when I first started hearing about it, Kristin was doing a lot of branding around the feminist scrapbooking using that Virginia Woolf quote about a feminist being anyone who tells the truth about their own life. The idea resonated with me in terms of documenting the highs and lows of life and making sure that I get myself in the picture, which I think changed my memory keeping habits. I think it is not that different from some of the other projects that encourage real life documenting (W/DITL or PL for that matter) but maybe reaching out to a different audience?

I’m a liberal. I’m a scrapbooker. I’m a bitch. I’m a lover. 😄 I scrap about my views because it’s part of my life, so sometimes my pages can be feminist themed. Or political themed. Or candy themed. However, merging different labels together doesn’t really make sense. I’m also a gamer but I don’t call myself a feminist gamer. Or a feminist pajama lover. Or a feminist laundry avoider. Or a feminist candy eater. The whole “feminist scrapbooker” label is trying to hard to be trendy and relevant, in my opinion. I’m confident in who I am and my views...and I don’t need to throw around labels to make a point or make myself more important or relevant.

I should clarify that I haven’t participated in the Awesome Ladies Project or any of the online communities so I’m not sure what is behind her feminist scrapbooking in terms of actual content.

Catching up on threads this morning...
I too got my DK in a brown paper bag and contacted them about it. They said it was not a permanent change and they would ship an extra pouch with next month's kit, but no explanation for the change.
The feminist scrapbook thing has annoyed me too, it sounds like its trying too hard. I have nothing against Kristin, I wish her well, but her style doesn't really inspire me so I haven't followed her much lately or really checked out her Awesome Ladies Project or podcast.

I truly don’t understand how they think it’s appropriate to not communicate things like this ahead of time. Clearly someone realized they were out of pouches when they were stuffing the kit in the brown bag and should have sent out a little note. I think I’m switching to monthly PL in 2020 and maybe I just won’t need supplies as regularly and can dip into my stash and finally break up with SC. I tried to find a replacement monthly kit but maybe I need to try harder.

I agree, I would not have been bothered if they had just sent a note explaining... even if there was just a quick note in the package.
I am planning on cancelling in January, I am just sticking out through the end of the year to have the monthly title cards match. But really, the only thing that has kept me holding on this long was to keep my "gold status" for having 36 consecutive months of subbing and they eliminated that perk, so there really is no benefit to stay subbed. If I really like some of the kits next year I will pick them up for M2M price, but honestly I don't need this many supplies... I have too many subs and my stash is consistently growing. I will reassess in 2021 if I want to resub. I will likely keep my stamp sub for 2020 though, knowing I can skip months makes it a lot more worthwhile for me.
I also have all of AEs product subs. I plan to continue weekly PL in 2020 but hopefully eliminating my SC sub will give me a chance to use some of stash and pick up some one off kits from other brands, like FYC or KP without being flooded by supplies.

Thank you for this I am by no means disrespecting anyone who chooses to label themselves as feminist but as you mentioned, it’s the smashing of two labels together that didn’t sit right with me. I’ll just be singing I’m a bitch I’m a lover I’m a child I’m a mother I’m a sinner I’m a saint AND I DO NOT FEEL ASHAMED over here

So, I follow SC on IG... and their Stories pop up. I don't watch videos of people because it's usually annoying, but is it normal for someone to say "TN" instead of Traveler's Notebook when they're all excited about it? Is that a normal thing? You can't actually say the full two words, just the initials? I realize a lot of people like to shorten things, but if you're doing an IG Story? This is why I don't watch videos. I don't say TN out loud...probably because there's no one I can talk about scrapbooking or journaling with, lol. But I do say TN in my head when I'm thinking about a traveler's notebook. I do hate when people use acronyms, as if everyone knows what they are.

The She Loves Color event is this weekend. I really hope this was April's make and take and not her class. Because if stamping themes onto a tag isn't class worthy. This isn't a weekend that normally has a lot of beginners.

That's called 'let me get a scrap piece of paper (errrr tag) and see what these stamps look like'.

Look for those tags in upcoming kits. They bought a gross pre stamped from China.

I got the Merry and Bright kit. Is the paper used for that TN the same as the monthly kit TNs? It's thinner than I expected especially the cover. Not sure if it's something because it's thicker book than they normally make or if that's the normal weight.

I didn't order the Merry and Bright kit, so this is an assumption on my part... but it probably is the same as their monthly kits. Every month, I glue the first two pages and the last two pages of my TN together to ensure things don't rip etc. I know, I know.... *sigh* ;-)

Does anyone remember if SC has made these wonky/sloppy phrase stickers since Confectionary (February)? This type of SC phrase stickers is my fave to use but I'm running out of my final Jasmine Jones + Messy Box ones so trying to find worthy replacements. Did I miss out on any this year?
