Does anyone here use TN notebooks for their documenting?
I’m looking for suggestions on places to purchase covers that aren’t from Travellers Notebook as their covers seem pretty expensive.
If anyone has any suggestions - I would be super appreciative. 🥰

Maybe keep an eye out for their next sale?

Freckled Fawn and Echo Park make page protector inserts you can use in TNs. American Crafts has a line by various designers and I've gotten some good deals on the Heidi Swapp ones on Amazon.

I ordered from Old Navy at the end of April. Got tracking, etc, and it still isn't here. Its moving, just really slowly.

That's just after COVID really grabbed a hold of the US. It's possible that the package was either held for a while, or was missed when processing. Bensenville is right next to Chicago and O'Hare is a major hub, so that might have a part in it too. That's not Studio Calico's fault though, once the package leaves their facility it's out of their control.

That's not Studio Calico's fault though, once the package leaves their facility it's out of their control. Yeah, I never said it was SC's fault. However, I've become super weary about placing any orders in the US. Anything takes well over two months to reach me (which rules out the missed in processing: that's 3 out of 3 orders over 2 months in transit in the US) whereas it used to be around 7-10 days max for the entire travel. I'm bowing out until they find a way to fix the situation. There's longer waiting periods and then there's whatever is going on. Both UPS and USPS are affected for international mail. American logistics fell to its knees in no times with a "basic" pandemic. It's kind of scary considering this is currently still the 1st economy in the world (and that the country didn't even go into nation-wide lockdown at once). I don't even want to order acid-free adhesive tape from SB.com right now and I desperately need it. I need to wait and see how long it takes to resorb the backlog and solve the issue.

I'm in Australia and still waiting for SC stamps that shipped from the US on April 4..... I know it's not their fault, although they do use the cheapest slowest shittiest shipping method possible for their free shipping. I've had several other orders come through from FYC and Everyday Explorers, as they use faster methods of shipping.

sleepingbootyI too, am bowing out for the time being. I’ve cancelled my Studio Calico kit and I’ve just been stung by a customs charge from FYC, so I’m calling time on both of those for now. The customs charge thing isn’t related to COVID but it’s a kicker when it sat in customs for 2 weeks with no movement. Providing Citrus Twist continue to ship my packages by DHL, I’ll keep shopping with them. But yeah, I’m done with the purchasing from overseas unless it‘s something I feel I absolutely need.

I’m feeling your plight, international ladies. I have a shirt I purchased that originated and is stuck somewhere via DHL in the Chicago suburbs. It’s been weeks. What’s hilarious is that I live in Chicago.

I’ve just been stung by a customs charge from FYC Ouch! You'd think they'd let all the smaller parcels slip through the system for now considering the backlog. The UK customs have zero chill, though. I think you ladies get hit far more than the French on the board. It's time for them to implement some sort of pre-declared, pre-paid customs systems where you can log in, put in your purchase + shipping total, get an automatically generated customs charge and pay for it online as your parcel travels to the destination country. I'm over the incredibly expensive administrative fees for customs charges. Let me pay the tax in advance but don't hit with me 20+ euros in extra fees. The extra fees are often more expensive than the actual import tax. I have a shirt I purchased that originated and is stuck somewhere via DHL in the Chicago suburbs. It’s been weeks. What’s hilarious is that I live in Chicago. Oh my, talk about all-around silliness with DHL. Is the parcel still moving? How lang until you can file a claim?

Peas, I’m plugging along in my PL. I’m up to date with 2020 and simultaneously working in 2019 (I’m to July, progress halted with covid stress). So I’ve been going through supplies at a quick rate.
A lot of what I’ve been using are old kits. Stuff I hadn’t used from years ago, when I kept buying despite not making time to document. When I started back up in earnest November’19, I bought up a bunch of old SC kits during a sale.
My process used to be that I’d pull a kit apart right away and separate the components. Put the stickers with my other stickers, put the cards with all my cards, etc. But after hearing for millennia that it’s so much faster to just work within the kit, that it cuts down in time searching for stuff that “goes”, I thought I’d give it a shot. And I really do find it streamlines my process and I get more done. Huzzah!
But what I’ve observed is that the 3x4 cards in all recent kits (like, the last year?) are mostly decorative filler type cards and not actually suitable for journaling. I find I’m having to go through my old stash to find cards to actually write on. Old SC cards were more geared for writing.
If you use SC kits, do you find this too? What do you do your journaling on? 🧐

If you use SC kits, do you find this too? What do you do your journaling on? 🧐 Sounds like you are making good progress! I'm about finished with 2019 and haven't started 2020 PL yet For journaling cards, I had a subscription to Ali Edward's SBTM for about a year. I found that her cards have more journaling options (although the titles on them weren't often what I needed). Also, Elle's Studio has good options and I think she has sets of cards specifically for journaling - I haven't looked for a little while, but if you check her shop you may find something. I don't journal a ton, so I've been known to throw a shipping tag in a pocket and journal on that, add a bigger label on a card and fit tiny journaling on it or the back of the SBTM cards were blank, so I've used some of those. Beyond that, I've split up my older SC kits and I organize cards by category. So I have a 2" stack in the "journaling" category to use.

What do you do your journaling on? I'm no longer subscribed to SC and haven't been in a long time but I did notice the significant increase in filler cards over time. If you are looking for a readily available option so you can keep moving with your project (kudos on catching up, by the way), you may want to consider going hybrid and buy some digital cards online. In a Creative Bubble, Kelly Purkey, indie designers on platforms like The Lilypad are all great options to explore and expand your usable stash.

honeypeaI have found myself reaching for digital cards for journalling a lot lately. I do my journalling digitally, so it's easy for me to grab a digital card, pop on the journalling and print. I agree that there is a lack of good journalling cards in the SC kits lately.

Yes, printing from those shops would be a good solution. I’m generally really unhappy with the print quality I get, but maybe I’ll get over it. I haaaaaate dealing with tech in my creative projects. Even readying my photos and uploading to order prints makes me cranky. 😬 But I could probably try one big print session to stock up for awhile. I’m very envious of the IACB projects I see that use printables. Probably need to pull on my patience pants and tell myself the computer is not the boss of me and I cAn Do HaRd ThInGs. 🤨 (I seriously suck at the computer stuff).
