We are supposed to go on Sunday morning and see Ant Man. It is my BIL's birthday and he wants to go. I know I shouldn't be apprehensive (I mean I am more likely to die in a car accident on the way there), but I am.

No. Shootings happen in different places. I am not afraid to go to my bank, the mall, a restaurant, a fast food place... I don't want to live like that of being afraid to do stuff. I am however always aware of my surroundings no matter what though.

I have been more so recently than ever before. The shootings have opened my eyes up to the fact that you are basically a sitting duck in a movie theater. There really isn't any way out. I've been more scared of normal every day things lately. I used to always leave my front door open to let sunlight in, but now I'm finding myself closing it more often than not. I'm afraid to go into convenience stores, movie theaters, shopping malls...you name it. I still do it, but I find my self not enjoying these things like I used to. It's so incredibly sad that I feel like that.

No, I'm not. Every once in awhile, when I do go to the movies, I'll take a look around and think of an 'exit plan' but that doesn't happen often. (The thinking of an exit plan, not the movie.)

I'm not afraid to go to the movies, but I do like to sit on the end of any theatre type seating - movies, plays, concerts, etc. - just so I'm next to the aisle to make a quick get away! Ridiculous, I'm sure.  |

No - I take reasonable precautions in my day-to-day life, but I do not worry about being the victim of random acts of crime.

I don't go to the movies because of cost; has nothing to do with safety.
We had a shooting at the small town Iowa mall recently. It can truly happen anywhere and I refuse to live in fear

No. I have a lot of driving anxiety I deal with going places but I'm not really worried about anything happening once I get there. I'm way more likely to die in a car accident.

No. I'm supposed to take a car load of girls to see Paper Towns tomorrow for my twins' birthday. We're proceeding as planned, but one of the girls who had RSVP'd cancelled today because of the shooting.

No. I went and saw Paper Towns this morning AND I am from Colorado, not far from the Aurora theatre shootings and had three kiddos working at a nearby theater, one still does. You can't stop living your life because of the chance of what-ifs. As already mentioned, your chances of getting in an accident are higher and I saw a head on accident les than a mile from my house this afternoon, less than 15 minutes after I passed that same intersection. You just have to be aware of things around you when you leave your house but not to the point that you obsess and miss the enjoyment of your life.

No. Living in fear of what might happen is not living!
We've had shootings in churches(Emanuel 9), gas stations, hotels, even a Chuck E Cheese.
I have one friend who's daughter just got over her fear of movie theaters when yesterday's shooting happened. I think this will send her back in fear, but I hope her mother can teach her not to live in fear.

No. In general I'm pretty aware that terrible/violent things happen in all environments.
My husband is LE and carries (concealed) at at times. ALL times. It used to make me nervous when we were dating and newly married- but as the years go, it makes me feel safe.
I Remember a summer trip to Disneyland and telling him that surely 'this is the happiest and safest place on earth do you really need to carry here?' and his response was that for a mentally ill person or some kind of terrorist it would be the perfect place to 'mow down an entire crowd easily'. I'll never forget that.

We went and saw Southpaw today at the theater. I wasn't worried. I have always looked for exits prior to the movie starting. I have ever since binge watching all those 80's horror movies as a teenager.
