I am really missing the friendly postive vibe we had. I love seeing new members and was excited for new members and the interaction, but I am over this being a dumping ground to compaln about SC. I really makes me sad to see this.... I miss you all and I'd love to help to give our mb a fresh positive vibe. I think many of us have been trying but ... I don't know.... ideas?

'I'm here and reading but don't have much time to comment. Life won't be back to normal for me until Sept.

I I hear ya...and I understand. A lot of us "SC refugees" are just frustrated because they (SC) have blocked our ability to talk - even about the simplest of things. So there are a lot of negative comments regarding SC over here right now due to the timing of the changes. And I can definitely see how that could be annoying for people. But, it'll simmer down here, eventually. I know that I am about done talking about them (I'm just still really angry and embarrassed at how much money I've spent only to get screwed...complaining about them helps me work through some of that). I know for me, personally, I am slowly acquainting myself out here. Getting to know the lay of the land, if you will. And I'm trying to join in on the fun, scrappy discussions! And I'm hoping to do a challenge or two (once we get back from our weekend trip and my son starts school, things will return to our normal and I'll have more time again to scrap ). Anyway, i appreciate you welcoming a lot of us newbie/refugees out here! I definitely need a creative community to help keep me on my toes.

I'm surprised that you asked this. It seems to me that there are more people posting, old and new. Maybe it's the new GS board format.
I am fascinated by the SC thread, even though I'm not a kit subscriber anywhere. How nice for them to be able to have a place to gather and vent their frustrations. It certainly is a hot mess over there. They're losing their community just like we did.
The more refugees, the merrier!

I agree oaksong! It's nice to see more action over here. With the fiasco over at SC its good to have a place to talk it out because the dictatorship over there has disallowed it. This board is like a safe haven and I think the majority are understanding and sympathetic to the whole situation. Honestly there is only one very active thread about the SC situation. The rest of the first page is filled with positive threads about this hobby. Pretty low ratio from what I can see.

Anyway, i appreciate you welcoming a lot of us newbie/refugees out here! I definitely need a creative community to help keep me on my toes. Well, they say scrapbooking the negatives can be cathartic. Although I wasn't a SC subscriber, maybe we should host a Layout Challenge for everyone who was wronged by SC to take part in. They can put down their frustrations. I don't pay attention to SC thread, but I would look at every single layout!!! and love them! It's so wonderful to have so many new members join our ranks, and we're glad your here.
As for community, I think the GS board has been great ever since your (doesitmatter) Happy Hour, even though I couldn't participate that night. The happy hour idea was fantastic! If someone or a few would want to do that again. * * and with the new members, more to play.
As for inspiration, we've had 3 new monthly challenges added to the roster which I find exciting.
As for other ideas, what about a crop at the beginning of November?

I've been in and out but haven't had a ton of time to be on the boards lately. I will admit that I've been following the SC train wreck thread even though I have nothing invested in SC as I've never been a member of any of their clubs
The last HH was really fun so I'm going to take it upon myself to initiate another one. I'll come back with a date and time once I figure out a time...it may have to be on the weekend!
I love the idea of a crop in November!

I'm here!!! We are on vacation so I haven't been posting much. The internet stinks and I couldn't use the data through my phone until today, because I had used too much and was about to get hit with overages until it reset. You'll see me more next week when we're back. (I tried to post a pic of the beach but it won't load. Dang it). And I LOVE the idea of a November crop and I hereby volunteer to host a challenge or two!

alissa103 , can't wait to see some beach photos...have an awesome holiday! I'm coming back to say that I'm going to start a HH from 9:30-10:30 on Saturday August 15th EST (New York city time!). I know that many of you will be sleeping or starting Saturday activities but I'll check back in periodically throughout the weekend for those that want to play along after the fact!

I missed out on the last round and it looked like everyone had a great time and lots of great inspiration was shared. Thanks to everyone who has made us feel welcome here!

The SC venting doesn't bother me a bit. I think back to how shocking it was when two peas closed down and I didn't even get hosed by them. I just lost my long time, familiar message board. It takes some time to process being treated so badly and being censored and threatened.
I hope all of you SC people like it here and stick around. There is scrappy life after SC.

Well I do most of my posting on the nsbr, but I'm sometimes over here. I'm trying to finish dd#2's high school graduation album before she gets home next week for a quick visit. She finished high school in 2012. ETA: I'm glad for all the newbies from SC and understand their need to be able to vent somewhere. I never subscribed to SC (not my style, too expensive) but I'm sure it's a huge loss to them. I remember how I felt when TwoPeas closed so suddenly last year. Once they get used to their new normal, I'm sure things will be sunnier here on the scrappy board.

Not that I was a regular, but I am trying to post more! And also I have actually been scrapping lately so I might have something to talk about. The SC thread is kind of weirdly fascinating, kind of car-crash-scrapbooking. It will die down eventually until they do something stupid again. I love the idea of a crop! I can't promise to host anything but I will join in

It's summer so I bet a lot of folks are busy with their kids before they go back to school and last minute vacations.

With the exception of the little bit on this thread because the OP brought it up, the majority of the SC complaints have been on one thread. Please, use that thread all you want to discuss SC; you need it!

Please bear with us. As I recall, the grieving process only lasted a couple of weeks after TwoPeas closed before we moved on to more pleasant topics. And the thread isn't all negative - we've had some great discussion about other kits clubs. If you're in the market for a kit club, you might want to check it out.
Plus, I don't think we can ever have too many people who are passionate about crafting. The more, the merrier I say!
I've been a poster on the NSBR primarily but I plan to do a better job of splitting my time between the two boards.
