I really think I could. My current house is relatively small by today's standards (1,050 sq feet, which includes the garage). I have downsized my possessions a lot over the past year and don't have a lot - just the basics. I think it would be difficult while I am still working because I need a good variety in my wardrobe for work but if I were retired, I think it would be pretty easy to live in a tiny house.

I would really like to, but with six it would be hard right now. Hopefully we can downsize to less than 1000 square feet in the future. On a related note, we just made a move cross country. We went through and got rid of unnecessary belongings we had been hauling around for years, so the total weight for everything the movers took, since we didn't move anything ourselves except some clothes and our vehicles, was 5200 lbs. That was half of what our military allowance would pay for and a pretty small amount for a family of six, but still enough to fill a five-bedroom home. The guys delivering our belongings yesterday said they recently delivered 65,000 lbs of furniture and belongings (no vehicles or boats) to a family of five. It was apparently a large ranch house, but not a mansion. I can't even imagine what 65,000 lbs. of stuff for a larger but still average house looks like .

If I was all by myself, yes. My linebacker sized husband and pets would not work well in a tiny house.

I love the idea of it and it sounds wonderful to get rid of all my "junk", but I don't think there is any way in hell I could actually do it. I get frustrated trying to move around my kitchen when others are in my way.

On my own, probably if it was in a beautiful location with outdoor space. With five kids, nah. We are drastically downsizing though, going from a 4600 sq ft home to 1600, and I'm so excited to purge all of this crap we have accumulated over the years.
