I've been sick for several months, and I've lost a lot of weight. My appetite is poor, and I can't eat a balanced diet. I should be on some good vitamins/minerals, but I don't know where to start. I'd love some suggestions, and specific brands would be much appreciated. They need to be gentle on the stomach (my health issues are gastrointestinal primarily).

Here's my two cents, for what it's worth.
1. I can't take a multivitamin-- they make me sick to my stomach. I think the iron is the usual culprit in that, so maybe if you find a multi without iron, that might be a way to go.
2. The only vitamin I do take is a 1000IU gelcap of Vitamin D. I get it at CVS, and I think it's just "CVS/pharmacy" for the brand. The bottle is white and blue. They are OFTEN buy one get one free, and I think they are mix/match.
3. Check the ingredient lists carefully. I once picked up Vitamin D gelcaps at Target, thinking they were the same, but it turned out they had fish oil in them, but it was not advertised on the front of the bottle. Fine, if you want fish oil, but I took them for three days, and had a headache for three days. Could be coincidence, could be I had a sensitivity to the oil. It just wasn't something I thought to even check for, and since you have gastro issues, be sure to check for surprise ingredients.

Talk (or e-mail) to your doctor before taking anything. Since you already have issues, you don't want to make them worse.
I take Kirkland brand vitamins. My doctor said to read the labels and Kirkland are the same as brand name.
I take a multi, calcium, D3 and iron.

I, too, say check with your doctor.
@eddie-n-Harley have you tried the chewy (like gummi bears) kind. They don't seem as harsh. They helped me. That and a bit of milk or food.

I am a vitamin junkie, even though there is conflicting evidence that they really help. I buy the multi packs for women and also a hair/nail gummy every day.

If you can't or don't eat a balanced diet, consider taking JuicePlus....its capsules or gummies of a large variety of fruits and veggies.

My suggestion is to pull your bloodwork results and supplement what you're low/deficient in.
