I like to print lots of photos that I think I will scrap. How do you store your photos? What do you use? The system of binders from a long ago class is not working for me.
Thanks, Stacy

I store them in their original envelopes but label them according to how i think I may want to scrap them. So, for example the pics for the kids albums get labeled with their names and I separate the pics by year and each year by month. If I have specific projects in mind then I pull all the pics and then store them in the envies labeled and they are ready to go. I usually print at shutterfly so their envies are really sturdy.
I do both PL and reg 12x12 layouts so I also separate those pics that i want to do 12 x 12 layouts for. I keep all the envies in one drawer and in their designated space until the pics are ready to be used.
I don't keep the pics if I don't use them - I end up giving them to my kids so they can use them when they scrapbook. That way there i no clutter. I don't feel bad either because I know I have the digital print saved and whenever possible I try to use the free print deals that shutterfly offers.

I put them in a photo storage box with tabs dividing the different photo groupings. I have a couple boxes going at any one given time.
We have a gazillion photos from Disneyland and those are in a binder organized by the layout I intend to do with each set of pictures. That way we can still look at them while I work on getting them printed. We had season passes and lived very close for 3 years when my kids were younger...we went a lot and I took pictures on every visit.

I organize by event and use index cards to separate events. I have a couple of accordion style folders with the elastic strap that is attached to hold the pics (5x7 size approx.). I only print pics 2-3 times a year. A shoe box would work just as well if you have a lot of photos waiting on their LO home.

wow I am totally unorganized compared to you ladies. I just leave my photos in the envelope from the photo lab and take them out as I scrapbook them.

I don't print photos until I am ready to scrap them. So I just print one or two events at a time. I leave the photos in the envelopes, mark on the outside what it is, then put it in my scrapping bag.

I purchased 2 CM photo boxes with the little boxes inside! They hold about 1200 photos and are really working for me! They really are better than those cheapo cardboard ones you can get cheap and for me, fall apart really fast and don't hold nearly as much!

I don't usually print a lot of photos until I want to try to scrap them. However, I'm such a slow scrapper that I end up with photos I wanted to scrap but didn't get around to working with, so I just label the envelope with what year they are from and put them into the storage bin with all of the supplies I've accumulated for that theme.
In my computer, I've started using My Digital Scraproom software to organize, rate and tag my photos. It's very quick and easy to go through and rate them 1-5 stars and I can tag them in batches. So when I want to go back and find only the good ones I want to scrap I can do a search and I don't have to sift through 500 photos to pull up the 50 I might want to print and use. Best of all, once they're printed I just check a little box to remind me, and there's another little box to check once those photos have been scrapped. It's pretty slick.

I use this. I have one for every year, which isn't many since I only have photos printed for about 3 years.

I do a type of project life system with my unscrapped photos. I'm very visual, so I found that envelopes didn't work for me. As I get inspired, I then pull out photos of the PL pages and scrap them. I also like that the photos can be looked at, and I can even do some journaling, while they are waiting to be scrapped.

I usually keep them in photo boxes with index cards, but have about 3 years that are still in envelopes and haven't printed in 2 years! Its a hot mess!
For this reason I miss the date stamp that used to print on the photo with my old camera from years ago.

I sort them by layout into page protectors and put them in the albums (3-ring binders) in chronological order.

I use photo albums that I found at Walgreen's (drugstore). Each page holds 12 pictures. When my pictures come in from Shutterfly, they go straight into an album.

I have a hanging file box set up. I very rarely scrap traditional sized photos so photo boxes don't work for me. I have a hanging file for each month of the year. Within that month I have different folders for whatever event took place or subject that I'm interested in scrapping.

Once I get my photos from the lab, I go through and sort them by event. I also seperate by kid (mom of 2). I use a piece of cardstock with a tab to divide them so I know where each new set starts.

Great suggestions. I need to rework by photo organization. It is not working in the photo albums by date.

I have a large divided photo box. I put all of the holiday photos together by holiday, then year. I put all of the vacation photos together by year. Then I sort the rest of the photos between my three daughters.

I just print as I scrap. Otherwise I get too confused and overwhelmed.

I print at home, but tend to print several layouts worth at once. I use to just keep them to the side until ready and unfortunately, they would frequently get lost for a bit. Just recently I started to pick the papers out right away and place the photos and papers in a Cocoa Daisy pizza box until ready to scrap. No more lost photos.
oh, I also place a post it with the date of the photos on the back of each group.

I have my old ones in the big cropper hopper photo cases. New ones I print as I need them.

oh, and....as I've told my uber-organized friend... "Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff." Take that!

I used to store mine in boxes filed by date and event, but this year I've been doing similar to rhondaintx. I put the photos in page protectors and even try and work out separate layouts and put protectors in for them. It's working so far, but we'll see how it goes. I only started doing this because I ran out of space for more boxes of photos on my shelf!

If I'm honest, the way I file my unscrapped pics is the bare minimum of organization compared to my Excel Spreadsheet of LO's I maintain for each album I have in process (5 at the moment)!!! My friends thought I was all kinds of crazy until they realized-hey, her 'system' works!! The organization stops with scrapping though....somehow it hasn't translated to my closet, pantry, dresser drawers, etc.

I used to buy 3 up pocket albums and put the photos in there by year. That way I could still look through a photo album or show the photos to someone even if they hadn't made their way to a scrapbook labum yet.
Now, that I am actually scrapping in pocket pages, my photos go right into their own pages immediately and just wait there to be scrapped.

I use the photo boxes that are similar size to shoeboxes. I get them at hobby lobby.I have 1000s of photos & they do not take up much room in these.
