(sorry...I had to condense the article title)
A new poll out Wednesday found that real-estate mogul Donald Trump is only 6 points behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a theoretical general-election matchup.
According to the CNN/ORC survey, the Democratic front-runner leads Trump just 51% to 45% among registered voters.
If the poll is accurate, it represents a sharp improvement for Trump. Though Trump has surged to the front of the GOP field, polls have previously found him lagging in general-election matchups.
A CNN/ORC survey in June, for example, found that Clinton would crush Trump 59% to 34% — by 25 points — in the hypothetical matchup. And while his 16-point deficit in July was a notable improvement, it still would represent a wide margin of defeat.
1) I still do not like Trump. I still think he's a complete asshole and don't think he's even close to being qualified to be President.
2) But for as much of a joke the Democrats want to make of him running, and what a clown he is (and frankly, I don't disagree) he's not doing too badly against HRC.
I'm still not so sure HRC will be on the ticket for the General Election.

Trump is speaking in Mobile, Alabama on Friday. I wish I could attend. If it were during the day we would actually take the day off and go, but with an evening program we would need to stay overnight in Mobile.

Sometimes I find myself bewildered by the world. Donald Trump and his popularity is one of those things that makes me realize that I simply don't understand (and maybe don't want to understand) the inner landscapes of my fellow citizens.

I think this poll speaks to how deeply people feel HRC is untrustworthy, not necessarily how likable DT is.
ETA: The email server thing is really taking a toll on Hillary, IMO.

You nailed int NICKSMOM! I've also noticed that Ben Carson is rising in the polls. so you can't count him out just yet.
One thing I think people find appealing about Trump and to some degree Carson, is that they are not career politicians, and they tell it like it is. Trump a bit more bluntly, though!
It doesn't bother me too much about their lack of experience, because I think most candidates are intelligent enough to surround themselves with capable staff and seek expert opinions on matters they may not know enough about.

I'm admittedly on the fence re: Hillary, though I tend to like her. The thing is, I want a Democratic president, and I don't see Sanders (the one I really like) being able to win the General, even if he can secure the nomination. There just don't seem to be a lot of candidates on the Dem side. I am really, really saddened at the thought of a Trump presidency.

I think so too, and I think that her making jokes about it really demonstrates how tone-deaf she is. She is not her husband and cannot run the way she thinks he would.

I was beginning to wonder if her jokes about it was only bothering me! I feel like her joking shows she is completely clueless and out of touch to what people think about it.

I honestly believe that she thinks she has enough support from those who would support her NO MATTER WHAT and that she doesn't really need the support of others.

I agree, I think she and others feel that way but sadly they are wrong. I am no longer supporting her, and I am a lifelong democrat and feminist who would love to have a female president. However, I don't think all of these polls are reflecting his popularity against her, many of them are based on his popularity overall and that scares the heck out of me.

Donald Trump tell it like it is? That maybe the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in relation to him. He tells nothing "like it is" He tells things like his warped, ridiculous mind thinks it is. Anyone who would consider voting for him is seriously lacking in the basic understanding of the role of the President of the United States, and is looking to completely ruin the USA as we know it.

Turns out HRC's server was "secured" in a bathroom closet in a loft of a start up company in Denver.
At her presser yesterday she talked about wiping her server clean with a cloth. Not everyone is a tech genius but every time she opens her mouth she shows how out of touch she is with the world. I think younger Americans see her as just another rich, white old lady and they are not impressed.

That's exactly the impression I get from her. I've said it before, but it seems like a replay of 2008 when she thought being her party's nominee was a done deal.

Do you wonder if she's counting on President Obama pardoning her if it comes down to that? I heard a little something like that on Fox News this morning. I do know what a lot of people think about Fox, but it made me think about it!

Or is it when you look at what the right has to offer Hillary looks pretty darn good. Warts and all. From what I read today the GOP is hell bent on shooting itself in the foot with their position on immigration led by The Donald. Did you know the 14th amendment is unconstitutional according to The Donald. But I'm trying to figure out how The Donald is 1. Going to make Mexico pay for this border fence of his and 2. How does he plan on rounding up 11M undocumented folks and shipping them south? What makes it really interesting is how many of the gaggle of 17 agree with him in some form or another on his grand plan. But what the GOP doesn't seem to understand is how many Hispanic voters there are. Personally I wouldn't want to piss them off well least until after the election. And then there is Trump's secret plan to defeat ISIL but he doesn't want to share it because someone might steal it. And then you have Jeb who feels we need to fight Iraq all over again. But let's don't forget Walker who feels because he "handled" the Teacher Union he can certainly "handle" ISIL. Is it me or did Walker call teachers terrorists. Like I said compared to the gaggle of 17 Hillary looks pretty good warts and all.

Shrug. I think that it would be worrisome if she were in fact a candidate. She's not. I vote for the party, not the individual. So, for me, it doesn't really matter who the person is. If I hear words, like "abortion," "planned parenthood," "ACA," from a Republican's mouth, then I will vote for the Democratic party.
ETA: I think Latinos are going to come out of the woodwork (more so than before) to vote AGAINST the republican party if someone doesn't tell Trump to tone it down on immigration.

That's the best you can do? I'm not too worried about Trump keeping up his momentum. I think another of the "gaggle of 17" as Krazy likes to put it will start to get some traction after a few more debates. I have a suspicion that Hillary is going to go down in flames as more and more of this email debacle becomes public, and the Democrats are going to scramble to put someone else on the ballot like Uncle Joe or even Al Gore. I don't know how I feel about that.

I cannot believe this insanity.

I think this poll speaks to how deeply people feel HRC is untrustworthy, not necessarily how likable DT is. ETA: The email server thing is really taking a toll on Hillary, IMO. I just can't find any comfort in this. I would rather put red hot pokers in my eyes than vote for Mrs. Clinton. Trust me...but Trump? Shoot me now. He's just stealing time and money from a potential legitimate candidate. His behavior is pushing people "to the other side" in droves from my view point (which could be completely wrong, just saying). What I wouldn't give for a British style election season right now.

I've gone from voting 'for' a candidate I actually wanted, to voting for the lesser of two evils, to dang who do I think will do the least damage in 4 years from this list of con artists, criminals and bullys. It's very depressing.
