Hi I'm looking for suggestions for a new game to play with my 21 yr old son. Someone at work suggested Cards against Humanity which sounds like it could be right up our alley but I was wondering if it's good for two people? Any other suggestions would be appreciated too. I would like something that isn't difficult to learn but is fun Thanks in advance

You need more than 2 people for CAH.

Ummm... I don't know I about CAH with your kid, especially at only 21. You'll learn things you'll wish you never knew. Hell. I wouldn't even play it with my parents and I'm 42.
And you need more people anyway.

I bought my son a sandcastle game that you can customize (to your age group). It's a no winner or loser game. Either the ocean or the sand wins based on the roll of the dice. Your mission is to move your tab closer and closer to the ocean to take it over. You use either a bucket of sand or a handful of sand to make your way to the ocean square by square.
By adding more rules, alcohol, money or gummy bears it might make the game more exciting. The ocean always wins when DS and I play. (It is a board game.)

We play CAH with our fourteen year old. Totally inappropriate, but we have that kind of family thing going.

Scrabble?
I liked two-handed euchre but I don't remember the rules/how to deal it. I'm sure google knows.
Cribbage. (One of my faves.)

Yeah, I think CAH is more of a party game. For two people I would suggest 10 days in Europe (or one of it's variations), or card games like Mystery Rummy...I have the Jack the Ripper and Jekyll and Hyde versions of Mystery Rummy and they are both fine for two people and the Jekyll Hyde is specifically for two people only.

You definitely need more people for CAH - we've played with 3 people before, and that was pushing it. We all just threw in two cards so that there was more to choose from.

"5 Second Rule," - You draw a card and you have to name three things related to what is on the card in 5 seconds.

my 21yo loves King of Tokyo. Most of the games we play are more party games than for 2. I do remember loving cribbage but it has been years since I played.

Skip Bo
DH and I enjoy playing this card game (by the makers of Uno). It involves strategy. Not an exciting game but fun.

We have a rummy game that has been on going since about 1987. Not really, but when we are all together as a family that is what we play and we keep track of points that can carry over for as long as a year or more. It's kind of an old school game-I remember being a pre-teen thinking I was SO grown up when I was finally allowed to play with the adults. It is particularly fun during cocktail hour.

But I wouldn't want to play that game with my daughter (she's 20) and I would not want to play that with my PARENTS!

We play lots of card and board games as a family, but they do often become more challenging to find ones that are fun for just two people at a time.
For two players, it's usually a card game like Gin Rummy or an old-school game like Backgammon. My sons are big Chess players as well.

We too play CAH with our kids. My 19 year-old ds, his partner, and my 16 year-old dd played it the other night after a cookout. My kids are old enough to know about the terms, heck I had to have a couple explained to me. I was raised in that kind of family though and my kids are too, but I understand why that wouldn't work for some.
My DD and I are alone a good amount though and for two-player games, Sequence is usually our go-to. We also like Phase 10, Yahtzee, Farkle (another dice game), Jenga, Mastermind, Blokus, and then just card games like Rummy it Speed.
