Well, 45 minutes in and it's not a patch on TWD. But I will reserve judgement until I've seen a few episodes - it might grow on me.

I don't think it's the drugs. It's some sort of virus and the druggies were hit hard because they are so weakened.
And Stacy71, no, you don't really need to have watched TWD. It's in a different part of the country, set before TWD starts.

I really enjoyed it and am excited to see things play out from the beginning of the outbreak.
I've always been curious about how things went & how they were handled within the story.

Who is Walt? And what blue meth? He's a character on another AMC show called, "Breaking Bad". There's an ongoing theory about the blue meth created in that show causing the zombie apocalypse in the Walking Dead. Thank you, I've never watched it. The drugs put me off it's premise.

I wasn't thrilled with it but I'll come back next week. lol I don't particularly like any of these main characters -- well the stepdad is okay. But mom, son, and daughter are just annoying. At least give me some main characters who I can like!

Did either parent get bit ? I couldn't tell. To me it looked like the mom did. I really enjoyed the premier. I did think it was a bit slow going, but I usually feel that way one or two episodes into a new show. It takes a while to learn the characters and to get a feel for how the show is heading. None of the characters bugged me, and I particularly liked Nick's character (well, for a drug addict, lol). Dude was freaking out thinking he was freaking out. I really thought that actor was great! And, I loved the opening music--definitely has a creepy/scary tone. The previews looked great--LA looks outta control!

It got good at the end. The whole scene with the druggy Johnny Depp looking son was cool. I also thought it was a cool idea to have the show start off from the druggy son's point of view that nobody would ever normally believe. Honestly though, I spent the first hour wishing a herd of zombies would show up and eat the entire cast. For the first 30, I didn't like one single person... except the artist boyfriend and we all KNOW why he's not answering the phone.
I'll keep watching. I can hang in there for 6 weeks even if I don't like it. The outbreak is always my favorite part of the zombie stories.

Once I realized it, I couldn't get away from the idea that it's Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and not Nick, the druggy son. I like the show, but I'm having a hard time because I've seen most of the main actors in other TV/film roles. The beauty of The Walking Dead, for me anyway, was that most of the actors were unknown to me, and they are just the people in the Zombie apocalypse. Fear the walking dead is for me, just a TV show because the actors are more familiar. But I'm sure i will get more into it as time goes on. it sounds crazy when I write it down, LOL!

Oh my gosh, how funny, I thought he looked like Johnny Depp too! I don't know why but this show is really creeping me out..like leaving me feeling a little depressed or something. The visions of LA just going full tailspin just hits too close to home. It's not the zombies so much that bother me, it's the total break down of society and how quickly it can happen. I think watching San Andreas, the stock markets taking a dump and everything else (general civil unrest/tinderbox) just has me spooked to begin with, and this didn't help. Gah. IDK if I want to keep watching. I seriously did not sleep well last night. I don't know what's wrong with me, this stuff normally doesn't bother me!

I got my best friend to actually watch the show and he loved it, and he usually falls asleep if there isn't constant action, but he was wigging out. So I knew it was good. Now I should be able to get him to watch all the walking dead seasons now.
BTW, totally off topic, but did everyone know that Dale, Andrea and Carol were in Stephen King's The Fog together?

Actually it was The Mist, not The Fog, but the titles are close. I remember seeing that and thought it was a crazy coincidence, but Frank Darabont was involved in both. I guess he remembered some actors he really liked. Good job Frank!

She was a cop and honestly her mannerisms and way she spoke was just like her cop character. I just didnt care for it much overall. Ill give it time but it just felt so different from the mood of TWD.

The mom was Colette in Sons of Anarchy and Sawyer's girlfriend (who had his baby) in Lost. I don't think I've seen her in anything else.

I told my best friend I would totally be like Tobias. Everyone would think I was a raving nutter if a ZA were to ever happen...but I'd be the one they'd be trying to find to save them when TSHTF and TEOTWAWKI happened.

I thought it was a snooze fest. The actors are not very compelling. I'll still watch, but I was disappointed it was so slow and well- boring. I was able to watch tonight and I agree. They went too far into the Nick guy. It was slow. Will continue to watch and see. I am wondering if this will somehow tie into TWD. I thought it would be great if the boyfriend was Noah!
