All flat embellishments are stored on a Clip-It-Up base & small caddies/planters/wire baskets hold bulky embellishments. Embellishments from frequently-used manufacturers (e.g. October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin) are together & separated by line, while all other embellishments are categorized by type (e.g. labels, Thickers). I've used this approach for over a decade; it enables me to easily mix/match within or among manufacturers. HTH

There are as many ways to organize as there are scrappers. There are some great ideas here. I've been doing this off and off for many years and what I have found is what works for awhile may not work later. So just try something different than you are doing now and see how it goes. I change mine every few years or so. It gives me a chance to clean out what I'm not using and update my stash at the same time.

I got a Napa Valley cassette holder at a yard sale today for $2.00! Just have to use the airhose and blow the spider webs, dead spiders and dust out of it! I am off to read Patter's blog again and order some of those little boxes she uses! And, it has 100 slots in it! Yay!

I am using the Scraprack method. It took me awhile to buy into her method. (She has free video classes.) Then I tried it without the Scraprack & then i purchased it. I am not done organizing everything into it yet, but so far I love it. Am able to locate embellies easily either by theme or by color. It makes sense to me.

If mine are part of a collection I will leave the collection all together until I've used up the paper or scrapped all I'm going to with it. Then all my embellishments are grouped by what they are and put in various clear containers. That way I can throw them in a bag for crops and retreats. I like my things easy to see and pack.

I have all my embellishments sorted into those little jewelry organizer boxes from Hobby Lobby. All the papers are organized by manufacturer, except for holidays, beach, school, etc. themed papers. Most of my supplies the last few years have come from Studio Calico, so I keep them all in their own huge Ziploc bag, and they are hanging from a rod in the closet. Stamps are in multiple baskets, and the small ones I put on those little rings and have them in a big clear bag that my daughter's bedding came in. All of my punches go in this dresser drawer that I have in my guest room, but I'm about to put them in one of those under the bed storage boxes since they are so heavy and starting to bend the bottom of the drawer (cheap IKEA dresser).

I have lots of ways to store them: wood veneers are in iris boxes, flowers are in a huge storage piece from Hobby Lobby, but my favorite is my embellishment center. It is now almost full but here is an older photo and a link to details. Embellishment CenterI went to order some of these nifty boxes and they charge almost $15 for shipping! Yikes. I haven't been able to find anything else for less. Pooo Anyone have any ideas?

I've been looking for an alternative to Patter's nifty little boxes as they are a little expensive. I found some cassette boxes that are the soft plastic similar to the dvd cases. I can get 100 of them shipped for a total cost of $32.15. rather than 50 of the others for $51.70. The only thing with the cassette cases is they have the little spindles that the cassette slips over. I really don't think they would be a problem. Any opinions on this or suggestions?

Vickie, wow, I know I didn't pay that much for shipping. Oh dear! And do you have a picture or link of what you are looking at? Do they open like a regular cassette case? If so, that would not have worked for me because of the things I store in the boxes. I think they would fall out too easily if they opened that way.

My stuff is all over too. I have wood veneers, flair, older metals and sequins in the multi compartment plastic containers from the jewelry dept. I have a 7 drawer cart that has washi sorted by color, smaller alphas and die cuts. I have some 3 drawer plastic drawers that have most of my 6x6 pads, thickers, flowers and trims. I have an Iris cart that has 8 1/2 x 11 papers, dies, embossing folders & scraps. I have expediats with CH holders for papers & baskets for other stuff. I have stamps in baskets, binders & an over the door shoe holder. I have 2 of the shelfs like Patter pictured for my inks. I have a couple of the old stamp carosels for my date stamp collection. This isn't everything but a sampling of the more organized stuff. My paper is stored by favorite manufacturers, then color for misc and cardstock by color. Having embellishments stored by type works for me, as I have an idea of what type of item I want but not necessarily color. The first good fits drive the colors I am then looking for.

They aren't the cassette cases that open with a big opening. These are like little boxes. Here's a link, www.deltamedia.com/1CSPB1.html?leftmenu=mediasuppliesnav I am thinking I could remove the spindles for the tapes with some wire cutters or my dremel.
I think they will work. Wish I could find some locally to pick up and try before I order a whole box. I just want to pay shipping once!

Vickie, I like those. Some companies offer a sample. I would contact them and ask if they can just send you one. Also, if they open like that, I wouldn't even worry about the spindles. I think it might be too much of a pain to try to remove them. Would love to know what you think of them if you get any.

My system (if you want to call it that) evolved over years of sorting and re-sorting. This is how things are now:
In scraponizer boxes: 1. Brads, eyelets and metal embellishments (sorted by color if applicable) 2. Wooden veneers sorted loosely by theme 3. Bling
In steralite drawers: 1. Buttons sorted by color into ziplocs 2. die cuts & chipboard embellishments sorted by color into ziplocs, frames and loose border strips are in the same drawer 3. washi & twine share a drawer
I have small photo box on the table that has mini-alpha letter sheets, journal cards, the pieces from 12x12 cut apart sheets, small sticker sheets, etc.
I keep my large sticker sheets (border, alpha & other) in the basket I keep my patterned paper.
It sounds crazy and all over the place but everything is within reach.

I organize by theme, type, and color.
Generic embellishments like flowers, ribbons, sequins, are sorted by color. I put them in gallon sized bags and put them all in a basket. I don't have many.
Themes like holidays, seasons, and kids, are organized with papers of the same theme. They are mostly flat embellishments and stored in sheet protectors. All alphabet stickers are stored in the same basket at the front.
Ink pads and stickles are all stored together.
All are stored in baskets in my expedit.
It works for me because I like to have things separated or it becomes overwhelming looking for a specific item.

I also could NEVER organize by colour. I absolutely LOVE the CTMH medium and large see thru storage containers with handles. I store all my embellishments in there except for bling and metal. There is no rhyme or reason to how I store them, just put everything in and go thru them quickly while scrapping. Same thing with die cuts. Like glitter girl, they are all in a container (she uses a large bowl) and I just rummage through it as I'm scrapping. Whats a CTMH?

Primarily by type. Here are some of my storage methods: Loose ribbon - sorted by color into clear glass canisters. Spool Ribbon - Sorted by color in a vintage letter sorter that hangs on the wall. Card ribbon - Random order in a drawer (about the size of vintage sewing machine drawer). Loose buttons, loose brads, loose eyelets - by color in a Bass Pro Shops flat plastic tackle box (yes, cheaper than Michael's) Misc carded embellishments - in another vintage looking drawer. Flair buttons, carded buttons, Veneer shapes, and Carded brads - small metal bins Flowers - some of these are on the shelf in their original container (if it is cute), and others are stored in my metal box collection Washi tape, glitter, and embossing powder - Harbor Freight 4 tier rotating bins (love these!) Alphas/Thickers - vertical file bins, binders, and locker baskets TMI? Sorry ! But you get the idea.

I am a rummager, I like to dig around and hunt up stuff. I mostly sort by type, then color if they are small and uniform like buttons. . Paper is sorted by manufacturer mostly, except CS, I sort by color. Flat embellies in pkgs. (sticker sheets, small alphas, etc.) are sorted on a home made clip it up. Thickers are in a basket. Ribbon is on wood on clothes pins in jars. Buttons in jars by color. Most everything else are in bins, jars and baskets, by type. All my little bits from my Jenni Bowlin kits are in a basket. I like to dig through it when I am looking for just a "little something". The only thing I sort by theme are holidays. Stamps are sorted in many ways, depending on manufacturer. SU are in the cases/bins they sell on shelving. CTMH are in the pack they come in on a vintage store display rack I found. Stamps I use a lot, for Lo's and journaling are right at my desk. Others are in an over the door pocket holder. Some in binders. I have a lot of stamps!! This works for me, but others would go crazy trying to find anything

I have most everything by theme except generic items like ribbon, buttons ,brads etc. Those are by type I store my theme items in the Michael cube draws and just pull out a draw when I need to go through it. My ribbons are on their spools in plastic shoe boxes sorted by color and my small items like brads are in art bin containers.
