Gets a keurig.
And it will cost me a small fortune! Since 3 girls = 99 kabillion cups of coffee a day.
My next package to daughter is going to be a coffee grinder, beans and a reusable cup for the machine. B

Our dd has a Keurig at school. She uses regular coffee and the little reusable cup all of the time. She does have some flavored cups, but rarely uses them.

That would cost me nothing because I'd make my daughter pay for it herself. We've taken care of her big ticket items and she has a meal plan. I'm not a fan of the Keurig. I drink too much coffee for it to be cost effective and I think all those little plastic cups are bad for the environment, so the reusable option is an improvement. At best it would be a care package item that I'd send and then be done with it. I'm assuming your daughter is a college student.

I have to laugh...when I lived in rez my father made sure I had plenty of coffee and a carafe and a kettle so I could have fresh, hot coffee every morning before class. That was one of the first things he bought me. I have to smile because if Keurig had been out then, he would have made sure I had one of those! Cute for your daughter! I can imagine her writing an English paper at 3 am and the words finally coming together.

Why do you have to buy for all 3? They can all buy their own - as most college roommates do.
The "fill you own" cups are kind of a mess. Does she have a sink? I know most college dorms do now - but my kids never had any sinks in their rooms the first couple years.
My DD's room last year (she roomed with 2 other girls) had 2 mini keurigs! LOL She didn't want one, because she doesn't like coffee, but the other two girls had their own.
My oldest DD had her mini Keurig. It sits in my attic now. She said it was too small. She liked it - but not enough to keep using it.
I love my full size one - but I hate the refillable pods.

I'm with the poster above who said it would cost me nothing. I would not be providing cups for my daughter let alone all three roommates.

Sorry!! Thankfully my girls and I are not coffee drinkers! Hubby is the only one that uses the Keurig. And the way their roommate has stuffed their apartment with food, their wouldn't be room for a Keurig or pods!

I would send some cups every once in a while. Just like you would any other care package. I would do it as a daily necessity.
My son doesn't drink coffee. Whew.

add me to the ones puzzled on why you would need to buy for all three... I probably wouldn't buy for any of them but maybe a box for a once a day coffee for my one student so she isn't mooching off her roomies.
Instead of a grinder and all the mess of filling her own reusable I think I'd just get her an $8 walmart 4 cup coffee maker and a bag of pre-ground coffee.

Good Lord, a box of 24 costs around 15 bucks, and you can usually get a discount. It just isn't that big a deal. And I, too, don't see why you would buy for the other two.

Try Amazon--I buy boxes where the cups can be as little as .27 cents each!

I need an education in things Keurig!
Dd has asked for one for her apartment when she moves out at the end of the year. She drinks coffee, dh and I do not. She just buys coffee from Starbucks and other places (like the cafe in her studio). She won't have a convenient Starbucks when she moves (thank goodness) and wants to make her own coffee so she asked for one. I have no clue. Don't understand why a mini one isn't as good as a bigger one or anything else! LOL.

Ummm because the roommate is kind enough to let the other two girls use the machine. And the aunt sent kcups for all of them to use.
So now my care packages will be kcups.
Yes they have 2 bathrooms in their room.

My daughter dorm doesn't allow coffee pots because of the the warmer.

The larger ones have a reservoir, and there is always heated water available, so it's about one minute to coffee! The larger ones also make different cup sizes, not sure about the mini. Starbucks does make k-cups if that is what she likes (I really don't like Starbucks so I can't tell you how close to the real thing they are). I am definitely getting ds one (bigger than a mini) when he leaves for college next year. His roomies can use it, but they can buy their own coffee!

My dd has one in her room, but she uses it to make hot water for tea. Regular old tea bags. And I pay for her tea bags, not the room mate's. In my dd's kitchen, there is barely enough room for the Keurig and toaster oven let alone a coffee grinder.

Back in the day we used to enjoy a walk to the commons or a midnight run (walk) to the circle K. It was a nice break from studying.
Looking back I enjoyed my broke college days. I hope my daughter says the same thing. I guess I see these things as stuff you buy yourself, when you can afford it.
I wonder who considers a Kurieg a luxury item or staple item for a college kid?

If my dd chose to use it, she would be choosing to pay for the supplies to use it. Life is full of choices.

Yea not a fan of the mini. Love my standard size one. I know you can buy them at Costco or try to find an online place where you can get a good deal. I love big cat coffee, you can create your own lack of 25 and get 5 flavors of coffee/tea you want.

You had to brew in a smaller cup and pour it in a travel cup. The brew size was small -but I think the newer one has a little more range. It is a total pain to have to fill it each time you brew a cup though. For not much more $$, get the full size one.

My dd was a barista at Starbucks and wanted a Keurig for university. I reluctantly bought one but she pays for her own coffee. This year, she got a job at a "real" coffee shop and she said the difference in coffee taste was huge. Now she bought a French Press and has the local coffee shop grind the beans for the week. The coffee is so much better in the French Press. We use a cheap coffee maker for our morning coffee beause we drink the whole pot. At lunch time, I grind the beans and use the FP.
DD doesn't have a meal plan, she moved to an apartment that is cheaper than residence and cooks her own food. Life is about budgets and choices.

The mini produces hotter coffee, but that and the smaller 'RV' size are the only pluses. I also find it a pain to fill and can't wait until we just ditch it and get a normal sized one. We just need to decide where to put it since the table is so small.

Be very careful with that new keurig 2.0 it's a pita especially if your a tea drinker lol
1 if you use it for hot water it only gives you 4oz of hot water at a time and you have to stand there and hold the button pain in the ass! 2 it only takes Keurig tm cups. Only it doesnt I have 3 boxes of keuurig brand cups that it doesn't read. 2 of which were bought this year from Keurig.com That's s big FU from Keurig ! 3 you can't use a refillable cup
I give the Keurig 2 about five thumbs down it sucks ( but DH had to have it ) I don't recommend it. It's NOT an improvement ( well it is quieter but that's it everything else is worse )

Find the cheapest kcups. I usually find that Aldi's are $.42 each. And they have different blends. Otherwise I do Sams and get the 84 pack box for about $.52 a cup.
We love ours. I'd be sure that all roomies are buying at some point. Otherwise DD needs to lock them up. I hate people that mooch off of others all. the. time.

Ok n pretty sure I can walk into the kitchen right now, push a button, and have hot coffee in a minute. The water in the reservoir is not hot, but the water in the machine is. If you turn the machine off, it takes more like 4 minutes for that first cup, because the water in the machine isn't already hot.
