Have you seen their new Christmas line? Here is where you can see it. What do you think? I like some of the embellishments but the papers aren't my style.

I'd rather use my money to support other manufacturers. But even if I was a big fan of SC, I'm not impressed with this collection.

I totally get that & support that idea. The whole collection looks like it is from Ali's DD kit (or atleast, some of the papers). Weird.
Also? The alphabets only have one letter. Ugh.

Ugh, not for me. I prefer colors that are more traditional, even if the graphics are not.

I really don't like paper styles that are basically photos, like the logs and the fir trees in this collection. They just don't work for me for some reason.

Yep, I won't be buying either. They have enough of my money as it is with DD and Ali's subs.

Meh. I'm another one who doesn't like the photo realism papers. And the rest don't wow me enough to buy before some of the amazing Christmas collections I have my eye on.

<yawn> ...personally, I don't think much of it, either. The colors are way too muted for me, with the washed out tones. But then you see that pink / green paper that says 'merry merry' all over it, and it looks like it doesn't even go with the rest of it!
ETA: and what's up with the Studio Calico Felix Collection, Seven Papers part of the description?? I thought Studio Calico produced their own papers; are they partnering with another company, now?

I like the papers, but won't purchase.
Here's my question - why sell a 4x6 album as part of the collection but then 12x12 papers? Many of those designs are too big to look nice in a 4x6 format! And no 6x6 pad?

No, it's not a partnership. SC created SevenPaper as a new brand and launched the brand in January this year (I think).

I like the alpha, but 5 dollars for 1 alpha each is completely insane.

It did remind me of a mix of DD from 2013 and the SC magical line. Like others, I like the alpha but not THAT much.

Not loving it. It feels like the worst bits of the 2013 DD and Magical collections. I liked those papers but the recycling is something that SC are doing a lot. I need to decide on a Christmas collection to use this year.

Felix here doesn't do anything for me as I've seen similar designs in the past, even for other manus. It seems that lately SC just keeps regurgitating the same old designs.

I'm not a Studio Calico customer, owning only a couple of masks bought for pennies each when a LSS was closing. IMHO most of their collections lack cohesiveness; they are a hodgepodge of trends, which seem incompatible & unnecessarily challenging to use, together. I won't be purchasing anything from the Felix collection...

Like the light blue/red color combo, but I wouldn't buy any of that. There are a dozen better Christmas collections coming out this year alone.
I like the "Merry Everything" graphic, but it's useless to me on album dividers. Would be cute as an embossing folder.

I have the OA Christmas line and it is amazing. I got it from My Scraps and More but she is sold out of some pieces already. I just got an email that Blue Moon has it and ACOT has it as well (had the to order the tags from there). It is really beautiful! SC is a big fan of using the same thing over and Over. Paper designs, stamp elements, motifs, embellishments, they really have lost so much of their creativity. I personally think it all started when they hired Matt. He may be a talented graphic artist, but he doesn't know what is usable for scrapbookers. He had a few good stamp designs, like the moon one, but it isn't really his thing. The whole cohesiveness of their kits started to deteriorate when he came on. That is also around the time they stopped using other companies papers as much, it used to be one or two pieces of SC papers with the rest a blend of other manufacturers. Now it is all their papers and since they just keep reusing designs nothing looks fresh or exciting.

Yeah, I don't know why their designs are so tepid. If you check out Matt's non-SC portfolio on his website his designs are fantastic, creative, fun and and even unique, and you're right...none of that is translating to SC end-products.

From what I was told, SC created the 7 Brand to separate themselves from the kit-side of things. The store owner that shared this information said their rep had made it clear that she should refer to the company as 7 instead of SC when selling these papers. They are wanting to distance themselves from SC (i.e. the kit).

(I miss, however, new Mini Market alphas included in each release.) I can't wait to see it in person! Happy scrapping...

Some of his designs look very interesting, but you're right, what he does doesn't seem to translate well to paper in the sense that it creates inspiring products for scrapbooking and card making.
