I'm sorry, Sharla. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the best ones. It does truly suck to be a parent in these circumstances.

I can't quit thinking about you and I really hope you are okay tonight. Just know that everything will be okay in the end. Keep reminding yourself that he is safe, and he is alive. <3

For help with his bipolar symptoms. This is the recommendation of the er staff. He's really paranoid and depressed I'm afraid he'll be scared in there. And mad at me. Want to chat? I have been there...it's not as bad as it sounds.

Thanks for the encouragement! He's checked into the facility. He wasn't mad at me, but he was terribly frightened. I was very grateful all day for the kindness of the professional people who helped us. It was a day of lots of sadness and a few funny things. I'll share the funny things later. I just got home, and am wiped out but I do feel hopeful and relieved that he's safe and that we can sleep tonight without his constant paranoid interruptions. Poor Sam was receiving lots more nocturnal visits than I was, I'm learning. Delta Dawn I would love to chat with you, and will reach out later when I have more energy. You're lovely to offer this!

Sharla, I'm so sorry. What a difficult situation. I'm glad your son isn't too angry. The future must seem very scary for both of you, but with the right treatment and trust it will work out just fine. It's encouraging to hear from all of the peas who have been through it, and have come out the other side to live happy and productive lives. There's no reason to think it can't be the same for your son.

sharlag whatever you need. I have recent inpatient experience both with Mom and myself. I can tell you briefly what he will experience and that is a sense of calm. You are scared sh!tless, but he will be ok and they are great with young people.

Don't ever question how good of a mom you are because what you did proves that you are a terrific mother. You're so focused on taking care of your son and keeping him safe and healthy, please don't forget to take care of yourself too.

I agree with what Rhondito said. No matter how hard this is, you made the right decision. The doctors will give him the proper medicine and tools to start to move forward hopefully. And he is safe. I will be thinking of you.

I'm so sorry for what you and your son are going through. It's so very hard to see our kids struggling. I was very grateful all day for the kindness of the professional people who helped us. I hope that you will continue to see kind people surrounding you. I like to think of them as God's hands comforting us and bringing us strength.

I know it's hard and I know it's really scary, but you guys absolutely made the right decision. Hopefully the meds will be adjusted to the correct ones at the right doses and the symptoms will dramatically reduce. I just learned (like 2 years ago) the truth about my uncle and a family tragedy. He was someone with bipolar disorder with paranoia as a major symptom. But his was misdiagnosed and it was not treated and some really heartbreaking and tragic things resulted. So I am Very glad that for you and your family's health and safety you guys made this decision together and are being proactive about treatment.
