It's a beautiful 68 degree fall day here I've been craving sloppy joes so that's what I'm planning tonight. I may sauté some broccoli with garlic depending on whether or not my neighbor decides to eat here. If not sloppy joes and pickles sounds good to me. I picked up a couple Honeycrisp apples yesterday and I'll have one for dessert. What are you eating tonight? Off topic but if you're ever looking for a good easy bar recipe I made some yesterday for coffee hour at church today and they scarfed them down. A lot of people told me how good they were but by the time I went through the line they were gone I got the recipe from a Facebook page I follow. I will say that even frosting them thickly the frosting recipe makes too much but it's super yummy. Here it is if anyone is interested. BECKIE'S BANANA BARS 1/2 c butter, softened 1 1/2 c sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 c sour cream 1 tsp baking soda 2 c flour 1/4 tsp salt 3 ripe, mashed bananas Preheat oven to 350 degrees F Prepare a 10x15 pan. Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla and sour cream. Then add flour, baking soda and bananas and mix well. Bake for 20 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool completely then add frosting. FROSTING 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1/2 c butter, softened 2 tsp vanilla 4 c powdered sugar Cream together and spread on cooled banana bars. Store in the refrigerator.

I am going to make homemade pizza after much deliberation. Don't you hate it when you are not hungry for anything in particular?

I splurged and bought some walleye so we're having that tonight, along with red quinoa and bulgur that I have leftover, and cauliflower with cheese sauce.

Bacon cheeseburgers, crash hot potatoes, and a vegetable. I have a steam fresh buffalo cauliflower in the freezer that I might make.

No fair posting this without at least a few pictures. I hope the day was beautiful and memorable! Oh, and we're having swiss steak, mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli.

We're having kevinandamanda's creamy chicken enchiladas, yvonne's mexican rice, tortilla chips and salsa, and peanut butter fingers for dessert. What would my family do without the Peas and the wonderful recipes they share? They'd do what they did last night and get take-out, that's what. akathy, I've been craving sloppy joes too, and have resisted making them because they're not a favorite here. I may just have to give in and make them. Oh, and I've made banana bars very similar and they ARE really good! You'll have to make them again so you have a chance to try them. They freeze very well.

I'm alone so I put off making sloppy joes too. When I do make them I put the leftovers in freezer bags with enough for 2 sloppy joes. Handy to just heat up the next time the craving hits. I wondered if those bars froze well. I have a very similar carrot bar recipe and they freeze beautifully so I figure these would too. Thanks for letting me know they do. I love having baked goods in my freezer.

I have a pot of Spanish Bean soup on the stove. I don't know if it will be late lunch or an early dinner. DH will have a ham sandwich to go along with it since we can't get a Cuban sandwich around here. OR we will have the 2 for $20 from Chilis. At this point DH is napping and I am heading into the scraproom. Playing it ear here!

Late baseball game for us today. I just picked up a crusty bread to make sausage & pepper sandwiches for dh and boys and I'll have sausages with veggies. Also planning on making apple crisp for dessert.

I am not in the mood to cook. So it's either Chinese or Bojangles. I love Bojangles' biscuits, but I'm really craving sesame chicken. We'll probably put it to a family vote later.

DH and I spent the day grocery shopping in Sweden, so we were very happy when BIL invited us to dinner at MIL's house....at least until I realised "dinner" was fårikål. It is one of my least favourite things to eat, but at least it meant I didn't have to cook dinner. And for those who don't know what fårikål is, it translates to "sheep in cabbage", and that's exactly what it is: sheep meat amd cabbage boiled together until ....well... until "disgusting", I guess. (Did I mention it's one of my least favourite mealls?)

We're doing Canadian Thanksgiving here today even though it is officially tomorrow ... so the whole family is coming over and we'll be serving the works Appetizers of cheese and crackers, shrimp ring and salsa and chips ... Dinner will be turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and some organic rainbow carrots ... Dessert is a choice of pie: lemon meringue, cherry and pumpkin ... Right now I'm just concentrating on cleaning the disaster area better known as my house

I have a corned beef brisket in the crockpot (my mouth is watering from the smell). I'll make mashed potatoes and sauteed cabbage to go along with it.

We're having Burning Feather's crockpot Italian beef. I haven't made it before but so far I am a fan because it smells yummy! Not sure what else we're having with it but I figure I have a few hours to decide.

All righty, akathy, into my recipes folder with your post! I am making italian mini meat loaves. With noodles of some sort. I thought I had some vegetables but I forgot to buy anything. I might have a frozen pack of something in the freezer, though.

We're having Pioneer Woman's Sunday Stew and mashed potatoes. I'll make some green beans with garlic and balsamic vinegar to go with it. My family doesn't usually like PW recipes, but this one is a winner. Oh, and we have some bread I baked yesterday to go with it.

All that talk last week of cheesy potato soup really stuck in my brain, so I am having...wait for it...cheesy potato soup. And while the recipe posted looked really good, I did make the cheater version instead (started with the green bag of cubed potatoes, swirled them around in a little butter, then added chicken broth and milk until hot, smoosh the potatoes with the potato smoosher, then added cheese. The bag of potato cubes are already seasoned so all I needed to add was salt and pepper.) I am guessing that my northern friends would be horrified at soup on a day where it is currently 85 and sunny, but really, where I am if I waited until it was cold to eat soup I would only eat the stuff in February.

I made a baked apple pfannkuchen. So good with the Wealthy apples from our favorite orchard. I need to go downstairs soon and make my grocery list/menu plan for the week, but I did a bunch of cleaning this morning and am enjoying a little rest right now.

We went to a morning wedding where they served brunch...different but really good. DH is going to watch football and just walked in with chicken wings and French fries. I have leftover steak from last night too.

A re-heat of last nights Eggplant Parmesan, but this time with a green salad. And the rest of the Apple Crisp for dessert.

I'm making Turkey Tacos to go with my homemade Salsa I made yesterday. But don't tell my family! They hate ground turkey. Let's see if I can pull it off like I did last week. Each one of them asked me if it was Turkey and I flat out lied. (I rarely lie as I am a bad liar!) They all gobbled it up so no harm, right?

We're having a favourite version of a traditional meal instead of Thanksgiving dinner today... meatless loaf, steamed carrots, gravy, and mashed potatoes.

It's my niece's birthday dinner party (22) at my sister's house tonight. My sister rarely asks me to bring anything because she loves to entertain and doesn't really approve of my kitchen shortcuts. Like, she doesn't let me make the egg salad for our tea parties because I coarsely shred the eggs instead of chopping them. Yes, she's nuts. Anyway, she did say I could make creamed spinach for tonight, as long as I make it her way and not mom's way (it's mom's recipe). YES, SHE'S NUTS. So she's making chicken Marbella and a bunch of other things, and I'm making creamed spinach. And there will be birthday cake.

The best of both worlds in my house. My DH is making gumbo, which I love and I don't have to clean up!
