So, even though I sometimes hate Christmas stuff coming out in July, I at least get it. Crafters need time to make their merchandise. Fine. And the year the store I worked in got icicle lights in July? I understood that, too (they had been BIG sellers the year before and sold out well before Thanksgiving, so they were trying to get a jump, even if those lights looked dumb next to the back to school aisle). But seriously, why is there already VALENTINE'S DAY PRODUCT at the craft store? I mean, this IS a Valentine's line, isn't it?

I guess I don't really understand this line of thinking when it comes to scrapbooking products.
Every scrapbook store I have ever visited (including the scrapbook aisles of big box stores like Hob Lobs) has had Christmas/Valentines/Halloween scrapbooks supplies, including paper and stickers, available year round.
Why wouldn't you? Who knows when I will sit down to scrap last year's Christmas photos? Maybe that will be in July. Maybe it will be in October. Whenever it is I will want to buy scrapbooking stuff for it.

I have to say that I disagree with you, Eddie-n-Harley. I've been a scrapbooker for over 20 years. I scrap book chronologically and rarely am I in the correct season. (As an example, I recently scrap booked my oldest son's high school graduation from 3 years ago.)
I would agree with you if it was a store that was trying to sell Valentine cards and decorations for Valentines parties.

I'm always happy to see "out of season" scrapbook supplies because I never scrap stuff in the Right season. Or I can see using some of that paper for projects other than valentines. It could be for about anyone or anything I love. I guess I don't see scrapbook supply availability the same as seasonal clothing or decor. To me it is a crafting supply and crafting supplies aren't held to the same seasonal availability.
eta: I know lots of people who hang outdoor lights like to buy and hang them earlier in the fall/early winter before the really cold/snow hits. So I understand selling them early too even if you think they look dumb by the school supplies.

Scrapbook products are a different beast than other crafts. Scrapbook stores sell holiday or date and season themed items all year long. Sure, you might see Halloween items displayed prominently in October and November, but you can find them all year long. Because scrapbookers work on pages months (or ahem, years) after the event event happened), so it wouldn't be good business to only sell in the season.

I have to agree with the others. I see all celebrations in scrapbooking all year round. I don't know a single scrapper who scraps in the appropriate season, so they would need the stuff all year round. And if people are making things for sale, yes it would make sense to have it available now. I don't really see the problem so many people have with working in advance of celebrations. Do people really want to be rushed and working at the last minute instead of being able to work at a leisurely pace?

Also, I think many brands used to debut their holiday lines at the summer CHA. I don't think they do summer CHA anymore (I could be wrong about that though) but it seeks like those products are still released around summer/fall so that line you saw is "new" even though it's out of season.

Are you teasing us and we didn't get the joke? We RefuPeas love a good seasonal outrage Well, I wasn't trying to. I understand looking for paper for various seasons all year round-- I just thought it was strange to have one little valentine's line released right smack dab in the middle of a whole list of Christmas (and, slightly before those, Halloween) lines. I wouldn't have thought a thing of it in December. I guess that just means I'm the one who doesn't get it-- wouldn't be the first time.

Who is clueless now? I miss a LSS with all of the line stalking and anticipation.
