Foolana created the alternate smack blog and all of her accounts were deleted. One glance at the member's list shows that her account is still active.

I remember one day on the old board, someone made a reference to a massive thread about wearing nail polish on your toenails that apparently got quite heated. I never saw the original thread, and I can't imagine why a thread on painting your toenails would cause any controversy. Does anyone remember that one? It would have been many years ago.
Well there you go. Mystery ended. Kind of remember the name, but not anything else. I am still waiting for the owner of that damn chair to come back and update me. So sad they gave it back to MIL.
She had a recently diagnosed bipolar daughter... but she ragged on Elannah on every single post!!! She also started a post wanting what was sent in a pm to stay secret.. n wanted it a pea rule... it turns out it was because she sent the name n address of 1 pea to another... the 2nd pea then told the 1st, hey she has ur address n sent it to me.. foolana got upset that her confidence got broke... said it should've stayed secret... Then she smacked on Elannah some more...

Lots of the most famous of the old threads have been preserved on the history board here at our new home, including several of the ones mentioned in this thread. If you haven't read them, you need to! Lots of memories on the history board. History Board

Wasn't that one pedicure related? i remember a thread about a funny blog post that detailed the rules of summer feet (or something like that). It was full of advice like not appearing in sandals if you toenails look like talons. The discussion here started off funny - but then derailed when people with untended tootsies got defensive and said they weren't going to pretty up their feet if they didn't want to - and if you don't like it, don't look.

There was a thread about, "Do you paint your toenails?" People started posting pictures of said painted toenails. Someone posted that the sight of someone's toes was "gag worthy" and the battle was on. ETA: SueS remembers better than I do.

I've heard Lettuce-gate mentioned a few times but I have no idea what it's about, other than lettuce of course! I can't imagine salad leaves being controversial but ya never know with the Peas I'm sure Benem was here with another name not so long ago, I miss her posts they were always entertaining. I wonder what threads we'll all reference and chuckle about in years to come?

The funniest part of the kitten heels thing was the woman who claimed to wear the kitten heels didn't even know what a kitten heel was. She kept posting pictures of stilettos. Which, of course, made me laugh harder. You might get away with picking up your kid from cub scouts in a demure pair of kitten heels, but if you come waltzing into the room in a pair of six inch stilettos you put on just to do the said picking up you're going to look ridiculous. when I was a parent volunteer for one of my son's 3rd grade field trip to a large zoo, there was another mom helping who was wearing 5" platform heels. to walk around a zoo in. for 5 hours. she was maybe 90lbs soaking wet tho, maybe they don't hurt you when you weigh so little? I would've been crippled, I only wear 5"+ heels for one purpose, and it isn't walking. That mom on your field trip must have been at the Grand Canyon with me when she went on vacation! Seriously, who climbs the Grand Canyon in heels and a very tight mini skirt? She looked pretty silly wobbling her way down the path. Her group didn't get very far before turning around.

Well, everyone else at the pot luck takes a lot of pride and time in their dish and if you bring a bag of lettuce you are seen as a slacker....or some such nonsense.
I don't remember how many pages it was, but Cindyupnorth might know. She was the offending lettuce bringer.

I totally get the lettuce/salad complaint. DH's family used to have a Christmas Eve get together and everyone would pick some part of the meal to provide. I always brought desserts, for example. Others brought sides...and that would be casseroles or real mashed potatoes or fresh vegetabes. If you had sides, you brought a couple. There were a lot of us. DH's adult niece (they are the same age) said she'd bring salad and dressings. They are a big salad eating bunch. She walked in late carrying a head of iceberg lettuce and a bottle generic of Italian dressing. She broke up the lettuce into a bowl, my SIL (who was embarrassed for her) cut up a tomato to dress it up a little...and niece's child promptly sneezed right over the bowl. She was obviously sick- and I'll spare you those details. LOL Niece still put it on the table proudly. I almost broke my arm pulling DH and DS to the side to tell them to steer clear of the 'salad'. Same niece came to my house for an early Christmas dinner- and she was supposed to make mashed potatoes. Her sisters brought lovely additions to the meal. I busted my ass providing everything else...and potato niece called wbout the time we should have been eating and said "I still have to run to the store to get a box of instant potatoes. I'll do it on the way and make them when we get there." No. No on all fronts. People go to some effort to provide their part of family meals, or group potlucks. The idea is- you provide one good thing so that no one has to provide everything. Put a little effort into your one thing...certainy more than busting up a single head of iceberg lettce for a group of 25.

Don't bring a bag of pre washed lettuce to a pot luck. Why not and how many pages were there? Hmm..Salad Gate was another one I totally missed! Is it the actual fact that the salad started in a bag, or the fact that everyone SAW the bag that is the source of the controversy? Or is it that it was just the bag of salad and nothing else? For example, what if you bring the greens in a bag but then dress it up with all kinds of other fabulous ingredients? Would that be okay?

She brought a little plastic wrapped head of lettuce. She didn't even break it up and wash it. She just broke it up into a bowl. Dear God- was she raised by WOLVES???

The many debates about crockpots Is making a meal in a crockpot really considered cooking for your family? Whether or not crockpot liners are ok to ease cleanup or are chemical storms poisoning the food. Prepackaged crockpot meals that are easy and good but contain too many chemicals and preservatives and probably msg I definitely remember some crockpot haters.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned SIDEWALK CUPCAKES!! Another controversial one, crock pot liners (Oh, the PLASTIC!). Or just crock pots in general. And then we have the controversy of returning your shopping cart to the corral. Oh, I just thought of another one. Preschool aged child wore an expensive sports jersey to school and they used fingerpaint that day at school and got paint all over it. That thread became epic and mom was scolded for sending her child to school in an expensive jersey.
