Hello there! This a thread so we can discuss everything Story Kits and Ali Edwards. Sort of a spin-off thread from the SC refugees one, but I'm sure many non SC refugees peas sub to Ali's kits as well.
I got my Sparks kit and stamp a few days ago, but I must confess I have yet to dig in the classroom content. I'm particularly liking the metal clips and starburst chipboard this month. Not really into glitter but this chunky one is kinda fun, might use it for a shaker birthday card or something like that. Loving the stamp, too.

I haven't started with AE yet, but I did like the look of the kit. I didn't mind the glitter either, although if it would end up in several kits I would worry.

I don't sub but I am looking forward to purchasing a few here and there. Especially the Read kit that is supposed to happen next year!

I have been subbing to AE kits from the beginning and I really love them. I'm not that keen on the colours for this month though. Just a personal preference I guess, but the orange and yellow together feel very Halloween-y to me. But everything else I love, and I will definitely find a way to use it all.

I only got the kit yesterday and haven't had a chance to look at the class content yet (I always wait until I receive my kit before looking) so hopefully I will feel more inspired on how to use those colours.

I've been getting these for a while and REALLY need to make some time to go through all the class content and really dig in!

@saraovesducks, thanks for starting this thread.
I have been a subscriber to both the stamps and the kits since the beginning. And I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't broken into any of the kits and have used maybe 2 stamps. I've watched all the videos and think Ali's content is top notch.
I'm really interested in some of the upcoming topics like craft and read but I really am struggling if I should keep the subscriptions going.
I'm hoping some of you will post your layouts or PL spreads - it would be nice to have some inspiration.

freeatlast I always post my layouts in the class gallery and on Instagram. Don't worry about the fact that you haven't used all the kits yet. Sometimes I wait months until the right story comes along for a certain kit. Just yesterday I finished a layout using the 'little things' kit.

I've been subbing to the stamps since the beginning and started kits with the "go" theme (that was at the time the shit hit the fan with SC). Some months I can totally kill a kit & make tons of layouts - Build was one of those months for me - and others I really struggle - for example, Black & White.
The class content is what keeps me. Not only do I get new inspiration for storytelling, but I get design inspiration as well.
I've done 2 layouts for Sparks so far - one about my passion for Zumba (used a ton of the glitter for that one LOL) and another about how the author Gretchen Rubin inspires me.

I started subbing to the Story Kit with Roots and have been so inspired by the themes each month - it's now my favourite sub. I really want to get better at storytelling and digging deeper, so that was my motivation for signing up, plus Roots was such a cool theme because I'm really into genealogy. My Sparks kit just arrived. I have taken a quick look at the class content but will go back and watch the videos again. I guess some months just speak to you more than others - sometimes when I see the theme I immediately get ideas, other times they take a while. Black & White was probably the hardest for me, but I ended up with 3 layouts which I was pretty happy with. Here's one of them:

Thanks for starting this saralovesducksI subbed to the Story Kits from the beginning, just getting the digital kit, as I was a digi scrapper. However, I've been dabbling in physical product/hybrid lately. I LOVED the Black and White kit so much I decided to try getting the physical kit as a month-to-month sub. I really liked it, and with Spark I decided to jump in and signed up for a 12 month sub. I'm really excited about quite a few of the upcoming themes. I agree with many - the content included with the kits can't be beat, especially since I am really focusing on journaling and 'stories'. I am a minimalist scrapper, so what's included in the kits can go a long way for me. I am kicking myself for dropping my subscription for the Roots, Go, and Build months! I was trying to cut back on my spending, and since I hadn't gotten around to using kits the previous months, I let them go for a while. I'm sure the Roots and Go content could have sparked a bunch of stories, since I am interested in genealogy, and we do a decent amount of travelling. Oh well! I also ordered the stamp for this month, and am excited to get it. I used to do tons of stamping a few years ago (mostly for cardmaking), but got away from it. I like how the stamps are theme specific, but also general enough to get lots of use out of them. I am thinking I will just get the stamp here and there when I really like a set, although I love that you get the digital kit thrown in when you sub to both the story kit and stamp. If the Canadian dollar was better I would probably sub to both, but right now the exchange rate really cuts in to what I can spend I also have to just say, that I am really happy with Ali's CS. Everytime I've started a conversation, they have been answered within the 48 hour window, and I've had no problem cancelling when I've needed to (cancelling my digital kit, or when I've subbed month-to-month).

I got one story kit a few months ago..."go." I have yet to use it. I glanced through the class content.. Holy smokes, batman! That's a lot of content. I have never been disappointed with Ali's products.

I start subbing to both the kit and the stamps in May of this year but I've managed to acquire all but one of the stamp sets (still on the hunt). I will admit that I have not yet used any of the kits but I definitely have plans to . I absolutely love the monthly content and have watched all of the videos. Some people have been complaining about lack of value but the videos and guest story tellers are certainly worth it in my opinion.

If anyone has an unused Magic kit, I'd love to buy it. My kids play Magic the gathering and it would be perfect to scrap their activities.

I am surprised that people have been complaining about lack of value. The kit alone seems like a decent value to me, but the value that the videos, guest story tellers, and gallery/message boards make it 100% worth it for me. I feel like I've gotten lots of stories captured/ideas for pages from Ali's videos and questions she poses, that otherwise would have never crossed my mind. And meaningful ones too!

i have subbed to the story kit since the beginning but have not made too many layouts yet. as of january, i plan to do an internet spending freeze aside from my story kits because for the last while i have spent too much time buying and not enough time creating. my plan for scrapbooking next year is to make a journal using my story kits and the content to help me through. i really appreciate ali and they way she has handled herself throughout her scrapbooking 'superstardom' if that makes any sense at all. she has never seemed full of herself and has always been generous with her ideas and talents. she seems genuine, hard-working, and committed to her audience and as such, she is a person i like to support. i also think she seems like a kick-ass mom and that, too, is something i value in her. i am going to continue for now, as long as i use what i purchase and as long as the terms do not change to something i can't live with. i think, after my december kit, i will have fulfilled my 12 month term and will be able to continue at the $19.99 price without another time commitment. that i like. can't wait to see more work you have made with the kits. anniefb i love what you have shown of your story kit work thus far.

I definitely love these kits. I have gotten the story stamps since the beginning and started the story kits with go. I've connected more with some months and others I've made multiple layouts and have been inspired to do more. The content is great and I like the fact that the kits can be used for both regular and PL style layouts. Plus the kit needs 12x12 papers and that helps me use my stash up.

I'm SUPER lazy about taking photos of my spreads but here's how used the Black&White kit stickers in my PL. I really have to take more pictures.

Did anyone else think Sparks was a bit light on class content this month? Love the kit and the ideas, but I wish the content was more robust.
