Yesterday I grocery shopped at Stop and Shop. I bought grapes because there was a good price with a coupon in the circular. But darn it! The coupon just wouldn't go through. Finally the manager came over to key it in, and noticed that the coupon was for a bag of red potatoes, not grapes. #Ineedtowearmyglasses

My close eyesight is also rubbish and I refuse to wear bifocals! So I fumble on, taking my specs on and off as necessary.
The thing I hate above anything else though is extreme stiffness. It's been much worse since I had radiotherapy this summer. I can't bend to cut or paint my own toenails anymore and I'm only 55!

I remember my Gramma was always scared she would have to sneeze during church. Not because of the sneeze, but because the sneeze might cause her to toot. Lol. I always thought that was so silly. Sigh. I know understand her fear. I'll just say I'm thankful at my old job that I had my own office.

Last week, DH and I were going to the store. I was on my Iphone talking to my youngest DD as I walked out the door. I was halfway to our truck and looked down at my hands and only saw my wallet. I then said to my DD, the one I was talking to on my Iphone, "Dang it Bri, I have to go back in the house, I forgot my phone!!" I thought my poor DD would die laughing. Oh the joys of getting old and forgetful!!LOL!!! I am sure I will have many, many more to share.  |

I am now very close to 60 and it amazes me the things that have changed for me physically.
--The reading glasses is really number one. I asked for 5 pair for Christmas.
--Arthritis in my knees so I have to wear tie shoes, and then I see a bump on my knuckle. Doctor says it's arthritis. Great. Gnarled hands.
--brown spots on my face, hands and arms. Dermatologist says sun damage, but it is obviously age related.
--hairs on my chin and face. WTF? A magnifying mirror and tweezers are my new best friends.
--digestive issues. Gas, bloating, reflux. --the itching. Ugh! Everywhere..............
--pills and lots of them. I am on medications for my medications.
OK, that's enough of a downer for now.

I can relate to all of these. Sigh. Ever since I had children, sneezing runs risks. I too am thankful for pedis. I can't reach my feet to put my fuzzy socks on when I first wake up. I can truly say that I need coffee in the morning or the day won't happen.

Oh, lordy, where do I begin? My skin... dry as a bone and chock full of age spots. I keep Aveeno in business and my handy dandy telescoping scratcher in reach. Chin hairs? Yep, those too. My eyes... even after cataract surgery and three, count 'em 3! prescription changes, I still can't see squat, especially small print. Thank goodness for my Kindle and being able to enlarge the font size; even with my reading glasses, I have a hard time reading book print. Makes me crazy! I can still reach my toes but I can't see the damn things good enough to trim them... if DH didn't do them for me, I'd be cutting off my toes! Meds... yes, lots of meds. Thyroid pill, reflux pill, cholesterol pill, vitamins, eye drops... and that doesn't count my O2 and three different inhalers.
Yes, this growing old thing bites, but it's still better than the alternative. It's good to be alive!

I'm definitely getting more forgetful the older I get. But I don't know what DS's excuse is... Last week I asked him - in front of his BFF - if he fancied burgers for dinner. I then went to collect my jacket, debit card, etc. Before I left I popped back into his room, and asked him if I had already suggested burgers for dinner. When he said no, his BFF burst out laughing, and said we were each as bad as the other. He asked her what his answer was! (Oh, and we didn't have burgers. I came home with chicken instead!)  |

Font is getting smaller and smaller and I wear progressives. Also, the music that these kids listen to these days is noise. Talking about pills and bowel movements. Yup. I'm my grandma.

Oh, where to start... My knees make crunching noises when I go up stairs. How sexy is that? I am ALWAYS hot. ALWAYS. Not hot flashes, mind you. Just HOT. Sweating. Gross. Yuck. Oh, but here's my #feelingstupid moment... A few weeks ago at the opthamologis's office (where I've been going every week for 7 months now due to a scleritis problem - don't get me started), I handed my credit card to the assistant to process. She looked at it and asked the other assistant if they accepted that type of payment. It was my supermarket discount card.  And now every week since then, she's joked with me about it. And I'm not even near being a "senior" yet! Yikes! |

My eyes went south, I CAN reach my toes to paint them but it ain't easy any more, I have a metal hip, if I don't write things on my list they don't get done but I'm happy as hell that I still have a sex life and don't take a bunch of pills. I've always said anything over 50 is gravy and I am living proof,  |

I was so happy. I finally got one of those nice light-up magnifying mirrors for my bathroom wall so I can tweeze my eyebrows and put on makeup without leaning over the counter. This mirror is not issue free. I was putting on some tinted moisturizer yesterday, looking in the mirror and tilting my head up the way you do to get it evenly on my chin, when I spotted a dark hair coming out of my nose. Is this typical? Should I expect more? Equally bad was the many attempts it took me to tweeze it out. I didn't anticipate tweezing my nose when I got this mirror.
These body changes are worse than puberty. I want a refund on mine.

Every time I take my glasses off. I realize I really can't see for shit.
My hip hurts and I don't sleep well.
I'm 46 not 86. I'm a mess.

Oh my, I can relate to almost all of these. Forgetfulness, painful knees, wishing I could jump out of bed in the mornings like I used to (as opposed to slowly crawling out of it cuz I'm stiff as a board), wearing my glasses ALL the time, and I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of other symptoms. So far, I only take one pill/day on a regular basis. And these are supposed to be the golden years?

These are my list of problems as I inch closer to 50:
- poor vision (near and far)
- back problems (herniated and bulging disks)
- crunchy knees
- hypothyroidism
- memory like swiss cheese
- gas and bloating (so, so embarrassing)
- problem with my cycles which led to a hysterectomy this year
- high cholesterol
- get easily overheated (in the summer) and get freezing cold (in the winter)
The worst part is I'm at a healthy weight, after losing 30 lbs a couple of years ago. I also eat fairly healthy, don't drink or smoke. Getting old really sucks and I wonder how the next few decades will look like, if I live that long.

My painful knees remind me I'm aging. I was just telling my husband yesterday how my brain is saying to do this and that, but my body just doesn't respond to it or is able to move fast enough for any of that.

Yesterday my lower back hurt so bad that I could barely get my pants on. I had to ask my five year old to put my socks on my feet! Thank God she's a good kid and did it without making me beg. The arthritis in my foot is the bane of my existence.
And the annoying stupid coarse dark random hairs that keep popping out of my chin and the one way over on the side of my face in spite of me repeatedly yanking them? They wouldn't drive me quite so crazy if they were at least in a place that didn't require me to crane my head and neck in weird painful angles to try to see them enough to pull the stupid things out, and if every mirror with a light above it didn't have a 3' wide counter in front of it that I have to also lean over in the process! I can feel them when they are mere microns above the surface of my skin, and I will claw at my face like wild animal if I can't get them out.

I have a terrible memory for passwords. I can literally forget my log in after only 5 minutes. Eventually my OH got fed up and set me up with a KeePass to keep them all securely in one place. 2 weeks later.... can't remember the master password to log in.  |
