I was so happy. I finally got one of those nice light-up magnifying mirrors for my bathroom wall so I can tweeze my eyebrows and put on makeup without leaning over the counter. This mirror is not issue free. I was putting on some tinted moisturizer yesterday, looking in the mirror and tilting my head up the way you do to get it evenly on my chin, when I spotted a dark hair coming out of my nose. Is this typical? Should I expect more? Equally bad was the many attempts it took me to tweeze it out. I didn't anticipate tweezing my nose when I got this mirror. These body changes are worse than puberty. I want a refund on mine. Unfortunately there will probably be more nose hair. I've resorted to cutting them with my little nail scissors.

When I'm at a the grocery store and have to squat down to get something off the bottom shelf. And then can't get up. Yep, I'm old. But honestly, I thank the Lord that I wake up everyday.

Does anyone's vision come and go? One day I need glasses. The next I don't. Today is a need them day. I don't happen to know where they are right now but I need to put them on. All the letters on the keyboard are not clear. I can read them but they could be clearer. Tomorrow they will be fine I am sure!

I can't get on a step stool without getting dizzy! I need to decorate for the holidays without falling! Still have a slight black eye from my daylight savings time fall.
Having to wear ugly shoes...because my feet hurt in pretty ones!
Would rather stay home than going anywhere anymore!

A few weeks ago I suddenly had floaters in my left eye and the next night the flashes started. My dad had this so I know it is usually normal but should definitely be checked out. I went that week to a retinal specialist and he starts off by telling me that it is a normal part of 'aging.' Aging! Really, he had to use that word? Of course, he was about 15 years younger than I am. I think he could have said something like 'our eyes change over time.' Yes, it is the same thing but at 51, I don't like to be reminded that I'm aging.

Before the days of GPS, I had to find a house in the neighborhood I was not familiar with. There was a bookstore nearby so I decide to stop and look up on the maps in the bookstore with him. I had to ask a child to read the name of the street to me . Obviously, that was a while ago and it has only gotten worse

My bones pop and snap so much in yoga my friend who attends the same class refuses to put her mat near mine. She says all that noise is too distracting. Awesome, I sound like Rice Krispies. Luckily I remembered the name of that cereal because the other day I couldn't remember what a paper bag was called. I described it to my son as "that thing they used to put groceries in."

I have too many, how can I choose? I've just learned to go with the flow and laugh at myself. She who laughs at herself never runs out of things to laugh about. I agree. and I need to go to the nail place and get my feet done. never went for my finger nails but it's not an easy thing to work on my feet anymore - so I don't try. I never know from day to day which part of me won't work the next day. This past week I had a hip something giving me problems - not serious but enough to be annoying as I went up/down my 4 steps to go outside with the dog.
The dog has learned to just stand back for a bit when I first get up... to give me time to get the 'ol body moving normally. That often takes more time these days... Sometimes she'll head for the door and stop a time or 2 to look back to see if I'm following her.

No ones mentioned hearing problems and ringing in the ears!! Drives me and my family crazy.
Arthritis, pre diabetes, most of what previous posters have mentioned,
But the WORST
Is memory issues. Yikes. Sometimes I feel I'm losing my mind. I'm only 58

Oh, where to start... My knees make crunching noises when I go up stairs. How sexy is that? I am ALWAYS hot. ALWAYS. Not hot flashes, mind you. Just HOT. Sweating. Gross. Yuck. Oh, but here's my #feelingstupid moment... A few weeks ago at the opthamologis's office (where I've been going every week for 7 months now due to a scleritis problem - don't get me started), I handed my credit card to the assistant to process. She looked at it and asked the other assistant if they accepted that type of payment. It was my supermarket discount card. And now every week since then, she's joked with me about it. And I'm not even near being a "senior" yet! Yikes! well lucky you! you have so much to look forward to!

Memory issues are bothering me...I open the freezer door instead of the pantry to put something away. I want to get something out of drawer and it's already on the table. This isn't occasionally - this is all day long! I can't concentrate on normal things either. Maybe I am just too distracted. I don't know.

I get tripped up trying to remember words all the time or I start a sentence, go off on a rambling tangent because I can't remember what I was talking about. I'm left standing there, looking all confused with the words escaping me completely. (I am a voracious reader with a fairly well developed vocabulary-one of the few parenting compliments I have received from my oldest is when he told me thank you for not dumbing down my vocabulary for him. He says he is the go to guy for his friends when they don't know what something means. Losing my words scares the shit out of me.)

Being told you already show some thinning in your bones when you have your bone density scan! So I will be adding more vitamin C and D to my already huge barrage of vitamins I take each day!
I can't remember sh*t and apparently my hearing is going south as well, according to my family.
I stay hot all the time, especially at night except for my toes and fingers and they are freezing.
I can't run or jump, not because I "can't" do it, I just better have leakage protection when I do it!
Seeing way too many obituaries in the paper for people that are my age. 54. Way too young!

I don't know if it's from the hypothyroid or from menopause, but I pride myself on being fairly articulate and well-spoken (or I used to, anyway), and a lot of the time now words escape me, and I come across looking like an idiot. I hate it!! My BF tries to finish the words for me sometimes, but that irritates me too, because he doesn't know what I'm talking about and he's just making guesses-- it makes me mad that I can't remember the words, and I know he's trying to be helpful, but it's not helping!!

Ugh...the forgetting words drives me crazy.
I live and die by the list. If it's not on my list it won't get done or purchased.
And no way I can get up if I kneel, unless there is something to hold on to.
If it's this bad at 57, yikes!

First let me say, these are my favorite readers: LINKNot cheap feeling, good fit, etc. I tried another brand in September and hate them. I need to bump up the correction so I'm getting ready to order another batch. I can't stand when I can't find a pair (which is often). I like keeping the sun glass type in the car with at least one pair of the regular. And you can't beat the price. I too despise the chin hairs. I can pluck mine with my own fingers...it's almost a compulsion/nervous/boredom thing. My hands look like I'm 20 years older than my actual age. But heck, I'm generally healthy and can still put my feet on the floor every day. I'm trying to be satisfied with that

For all the complaining I do, I think there is a lot to be said for that.

For me it's forgetfulness. Last week I was looking for my apron all over the place. I asked dh "Have you seen my apron?" Dh says "You're wearing it". YIKES! I'm 51.

Forgetting your words and how to spell as normal aging makes me feel SO much better. I thought it was from my MS.
I am so stiff in the morning and my fingers are really swollen. Typing on the laptop helps. I don't schedule stuff for in the morning. Once I get up and get going, I'm able to move around more.
I can't hear if there's background noise, and my dh mumbles. He asks for help when he's in pain, but he's making so much noise when he's whining that I can't understand what he's saying so he has to repeat it. You'd think he'd learn to speak up the first time. I get he's in pain...I have pain, too, but whining about it doesn't make me feel any better.
I get hot and cold all the time, too. I'm wearing thin pj pants with a thin fleece lining that I love. I'm wearing them with a tank top and have a hoodie around my shoulders--half on half off. I get cold and then get hot. I rarely have to wear a thick coat even in the middle of winter. I dress in layers and have thin coats. People stop me and ask where my thick coat is. I tell them I'm having hot flashes. They don't believe me because I look 18. I also run a low grade fever constantly.
I quit using artificial sweeteners because it made my joint pain so much worse. I also drink my Ensure shakes--the vitamins really help.
I'm just happy to be alive--most of the time. Most people with chronic pancreatitis don't live as long as I have, so any time is gravy to me.
I hate feeling like I'm ancient, but my poor health has given me a fantastic gift. I enjoy my good days and know what's important in life. I try to focus on what I truly love--my dh and family and showing them how much I love them. I also have as much fun as possible and am always cracking jokes and laughing. That's what I want them to remember about me--that I loved them with all my heart and was full of joy.
