Hate their haircut? ? I swear for almost 20 years I tried to keep it long...but it's very fine, thin and if it's long it's stringy! Everyone else says it's cute shorter. ..yet he always (without saying but it's obvious ) really hates it. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) Anyone else?

Oh my gosh!!!! I could have written that post. I cut about 6-8 inches off in June. Have not cut it shorter, since. Every time my daughter sees me I get the why do you keep cutting it. And my husband says he likes it longer. But they don't have to take care of it. My DD has beautiful hair. Me? Limp and Ick. But short hair is a lot harder to take are of. I can't just throw in a ponytail anymore. So on weekends if I want to be lazy I can't. I still have to style it. I may just let it grow long again.

My ex-husband always wanted me to have long hair. Like you...the longer my hair is the stringier and thinner it becomes. So I have had always had some version of a short chin length bob. Everyone but my ex loved the bob on me.
My current (and last) husband loves me with short hair. In fact...I got an asymmetrical bob a couple of months and he loves it.

Yep! I have had my hair longer for about 4 or 5 years because DH likes it. Finally, this year, I cut it (between my ear and neck).
I was outside talking on the phone. He walked out, saw it - said "Don't like the haircut" and walked back in the house.
He was mad because he doesn't like it but hey, it grows back and he got over it (a couple days later).
Oh well, I have gotten many compliments since I cut it. I just felt like all it did was hang there.

My son's father didn't like my skin colour, my hair, my weight or anything else. I think he got me mixed up with a different culture.
Oh man he hated my hair. It grew to shoulder length and he hated whatever I did with it.

Nope, DH doesn't care one way or the other. My hair has gotten thinner, more wiry and oilier as I get older, so the long hair look isn't a good one for me anymore. Even if he wanted my hair longer, there's no way I would ever grow it out again because it looks horrible like that.

I have the opposite problem. I come home from a haircut and if it isn't short, he doesn't say much. He really likes short hair on me. I don't care for all the upkeep.

I let him do what he wants with his hair and he lets me. I admit I don't want him to have a beard, if he doesn't shave for a couple days, I get nervous! But I just tell him he looks so much younger without a beard (true)!

My hair, my choice of styles. Lol. My Dh doesn't comment on mine other than to tell me he likes it. (He's a very smart man) I grow it long and every 2ish years I hack off at least 15” to donate. This last cut was a bit too extreme for me. It was a sharp a-line with the shortest layer about 2” and the longest right at the bottom of my ears. My hair is straight, straight, straight. When my hair girl cut it, she had to style it too. She knows damn well that I'm not about to style it! She blew it dry and flat ironed it! Yeah, I wash it and shake it out and go. It does its own thing. It flips out not matter what I try to do to it so I just go with it. I roll the window down in the car on the way to work and let the wind "do" it for me, lol. Life is much easier if I don't try to make my hair look a particular way. It's getting longer now and I can BARELY ponytail it. My hair girl just had major cancer surgery so I'm not sure when she'll be cutting again. Guess I'm going to let it do it's thing until then. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)

I think guys *almost always* like longer hair. And I'm not really sure why that is because long hair isn't just something to blanket across all the females on the continent! Not everyone looks better with long hair. But that's just the general feeling I get. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ?

I remember coming home after getting my hair cut short for the first time ever and my ex (who wasn't my ex at the time) said "What the fuck have you done?!"
I guess he didn't like me with short hair.

My dh doesn't "hate" it but I know he'd prefer it longer. He completely understands why it's short though - once my hair gets beyond my shoulders, it falls out. I have VERY VERY thin hair (balding on top) and just the added weight of being a little longer causes it to fall out. So I keep it short.

DH has said he prefers longer hair. I prefer shorter hair. If my hair gets to a certain length, it looks stringy, unhealthy, and tangles easily. The happy medium is shoulder length. I won't let it go longer than that and will get it cut so it barely touches my shoulders. I went super short once and while he said it looked good, I knew it wasn't a favorite.

I think most men prefer all women to have long hair...
Just like most women prefer all men to have sexy six-pack abs.
Neither one is very realistic for the majority of us.

Just before Christmas last year I had my long hair cut really really short, as soon as my husband saw it he said 'it's gonna grow isn't it'? he kept repeating it til I asked him if he hated it he said 'no it's really nice but it's gonna grow right'?

I cut my hair short in 2012. My husband loves my hair short. For a long time I had long hair that ranged between my shoulders and mid back. My husband always reminded me how much he liked my hair short. When I finally cut it off again I amazed at how much younger I looked. Long hair was definitely aging for me. It is wash and wear for me, no need to blow dry if I don't want to. When it was long I usually just put it in a pony tail 80% of the time. Also not a good look for me. If he wanted me to grow it long he would be out of luck.

I'd have to tell my DH to go F*** himself if he dared to tell me something like that. I'd be furious. Like he's sleeping on the couch for weeks kind of furious. I don't tell him what to do with his looks, he'd better never tell me what to do with mine. My hair and my choice of what I do with it. Doesn't like it? Too bad. Tell the dog, it's completely unacceptable to tell a wife that.

Could have written your post. I cut about 10in off in September and I'm never going back. DH loves long hair that is put in rollers or curled with a curling iron. Yeah, no. Ain't happening. I'm lucky if I can find time to blow dry it and I think I've blown it dry maybe 3 times since September. Maybe if I were a lady of leisure.....yeah, still no.

i cut mine from bra-strap length to a short, asymmetrical angled bob late this summer. I loved the haircut and always wanted to try it and figured I better do it now before 1. it went completely out of style and 2. I was too old to ever grow it back out, therefore starting the "short hair the older you get" slide. I don't LOVE it, but I like it. takes a lot less hair dye when I do my fun colors, easier to style but the styles are more limited. DH isn't a big fan. he says it's ok, but he prefers longer hair. and I'm ok with that, I don't need a "yes man" to tell me I'm pretty all the time regardless of what I do or wear. I want an honest opinion. doesn't mean I will change anything, tho. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)

I blame porn. 99.99% of the actresses have long, flowing wavy hair that gets tossed everywhere or grabbed. and besides porn, even in regular life with the modeling industry, movies.. the "hot" girls almost always have the long hair. we're conditioned to think that long thick hair is a sign of healthiness and sexiness. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

I once had a man (jerk) tell me I looked like a "lesbian" with my "butch cut". I thought it was cute but his view on hair, women, and life in general was narrow minded and horrible.

No, my husband has always said it's my hair, do with it what I want. It was shoulder length when we met and married, but for the past several years, it's been very short. I wash, blow dry and go. He definitely prefers that to all the time it took me to style my longer hair.
I reciprocate by not caring if he shaves. I think he looks handsome with or without a beard or scruff. And since I'm not the one who has to lather up my face and shave, whatever makes him happy is fine with me.

Yep, my husband really dislikes that my hair is super short right now. And likely to stay that way too. If he'd have his way, I'd have Farrah Fawcett hair. I got over worrying about it quite some time ago though ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) And he rarely verbalizes it because he recognizes that it's not his head.

I don't think he hates it but he does prefer longer hair. I have only been able to grow my hair out to a little bit past my shoulders and then it just stops...or I cut it all off before it grows any longer! LOL! We've been married 21 years and for probably 85-90% of that time I've had a super short pixie cut or some variation of that. I've always been told I have great hair for the short styles and I prefer my hair shorter too. I get so many compliments with short hair more than I ever did with longer hair. As for it being "butch" or "manly", I just offset it with sassy clothes, heels and jewelry so that makes my DH happy! ![:2thumbsup:](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/zKsqKGInldFvtmx415J3.jpg)

My husband doesn't like me with short hair, and over the years I've had many short hair styles. Right now my hair is shoulder length and I will keep it that length. Any longer and it actually looks finer than it already is.
I will never go to a bob haircut. My sister and I look exactly alike and she has one and it really isn't doing her any favors, so that is I would look like with one. She's had shoulder length hair in the past and it looks good on her but I get that she is commuting two hours a day and doesn't have the time or energy.

My husband doesn't give an opinion on what I should do with my hair. It is generally long, but this summer I cut it to a little past my shoulders. He commented that he didn't think I would go that short, but that was it. Now I'm debating about keeping it longer or cutting it shorter again and he has no preference.
My stepdad, on the other hand, is very particular about my moms hair.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with having preferences and sharing your opinion.
I thought my LH's mustache was attractive on him. He always teased me about shaving it off. I always told him it was his decision. He never shaved it off, but in the end the chemo took it. He wiped his mouth with a napkin and half of his mustache came off with it. He laughed away tears. It's just hair. He preferred longer hair on me. I do too. Short hair limits styles for me because of my tight curls.

I don't think my husband has a preference. He liked my hair long, but like others have said, now that I'm older my hair is thinner and it looks kind of ratty when it gets too long. I keep it somewhere from shoulder to chin length now. Not super short, but I don't like it long on me anymore.
If it was lush and thick I might.
