No, I have never had one, and I don't see the need. We don't really have any issues with the comforter or sheets coming untouched.

Nay for us, DH is 6'8" so his feet hang off the end of the bed and a footboard would be truly uncomfortable for him.

Ours has a footboard, but it's not snug to the end of the mattress. It's an iron frame and the footboard is actually a slight curve outward from post to post. I love it, and hang a throw on it. I actually don't like benches at the ends of beds and don't really have a good reason. I just don't.

I don't even have a headboard. We have an old set of dressers I bought before I was married and we have never gotten around to buying a new set (25 years later). Somehow it has never risen to the top of our priority list. I just use lots of pillows to form a quasi headboard look.

We have a sleigh bed, so we do have a footboard. We just bought it over the summer, as we went to a king sized mattress as well. I looked high and low for another four poster like we had, but couldn't find one simple enough. I like the look of a footboard and DH is only 6' tall, so there's plenty of room for him. Making the bed is easy, but we have a tempurpedic mattress and just raise the head and foot of the mattress to make it easier.

We have a sleigh bed, so there is a footboard. DH is 6'4" and fits just fine. The footboard isn't flush against the end of the bed since its a sleigh though.

We have a bed that sits about three feet tall. A footboard would be nice for the dog. He rolled off the end one time and has decided to sleep under the bed from then on.

NO way. DH is 6'2" and screws up the covers enough as it is. When we have to sleep in a bed with a footboard, it's a nightmare to make or even straighten all the covers out. And of course, he doesn't care, I'm the one who cares. (If I sleep in a bed alone for a full week, and don't make the bed, it still looks better than most people's would after one night. I'm an "orderly" sleeper, lol.)

Nope for us! We love just the padded tuffed headboard. We do have padded side and end rails that match the headboard, so it's not just a mattress on a box frame

I have a footboard but it only comes up to about 2" from the top of the mattress. I don't find it difficult to make the bed at all.

We have a bed with a footboard. The only thing that aggravates me is that my husband uses it as a place to pile his clothes.

Our king is a 4 post canopy. All carved wood. Headboard and footboard.
DD's Queen 4 post canopy has a metal headboard and curved double bar posts. No headboard.
Ds's full size bed is a wood Jenny Lind spindle style bed with both head and footboards.
I think it really depends on the bed style.

No footboard because we have a tiny bedroom. If the room would handle it, I'd absolutely have a footboard. Love the look, love the idea of keeping the duvet on the bed.

I have a handmade pencil post bed. The footboard is a narrower version of the headboard but is lower than the mattress. Dh and I are both tall. A footboard that extended up to the top of the mattress would restrict foot movement--can't have that.
I like a foot board because I tuck the blanket and the cover in behind it for a clean look when the bed is made.

We had one with our last bedroom set which was a traditional look. I bought a new contemporary set about a year ago without a footboard. It is a platform, contemporary set that you use without a box spring. I like this much better, it's a less cluttered look that makes the room look larger. We do have a bench at the end so our doggies can get up on the bed easier. I think it's based on the look you want, contemporary or traditional.

Three beds with a footboard and one queen without. The queen without is no easier to make than the footboard beds, also don't lose covers any easier either.
My footboard beds I never stub my toes. Ever. The bed with only the headboard I'm constantly stubbing my toes on the thing that holds the box spring off the floor.

We have a king with a footboard. It's not much higher than the mattress and there is a gap so it's no problem to make the bed. We are both short so that doesn't matter to us. I like the finished look but I don't think I would care if it didn't have one either. We also have a bench. Our bedroom is large so it all fits fine. I think it's just personal preference.

I actually don't have either, we just have a mattress and box spring on a metal frame with wheels.

I definitely prefer a footboard. I think it just adds a certain something to the bed.
This is basically the same as my bed. I have a traditional Scottish look; Black Watch tartan bedding, and curtains on the half-tester. I love it.

We do have a footboard. We just bought it at Pottery Barn this year. It's the first time I've had one and I like it.

Somehow it has never risen to the top of our priority list. I just use lots of pillows to form a quasi headboard look. I've been debating on getting rid of our headboard. Behind our bed is a window. The bottom edge comes below the headboard top. I've often thought how pretty it would be to put glass vases etc for the light to shine though in the window, but they would be half covered by the headboard.

I liked when we had a footboard on our bed. We took it off to make our room look bigger when we moved to a house with a smaller master. It helped with the look of the room. But, I miss having a place to fold my bedspread over at night. We don't have room for a bench at the end of the bed.

Like a previous poster mentioned, check to see how high your box spring and mattress will be compared to the footboard... Some ratios will look better than others, and if the footboard is lower than the mattress top and blankets it may not have the look/effect you like... Due to bogeymen I prefer foot boards, but there's not enough room for one (plus it would face a wall and you'd never really see it), so I bravely go without... One day I will have a brass or sleigh bed and luxuriate in the security of it all
