I am currently peaing from the couch where dh is asleep right next to me. He is snoring so loud he may wake the neighbors. I am thinking of going to bed and leaving him here! So freaking loud!! He has snored for years and won't get it checked out so I don't feel guilty! This may be a long night...

Have you tried using essential oils for his snoring? My Dh snores so bad...but I can put a drop of valor on him and he stops!
FWIW I would totally leave my DH on the couch!

I've tried lots of things, but not essential oils. Usually a good swift elbow to his side will get him to roll over and stop the snoring long enough for me to get back to sleep!

I will support you leaving him on the couch. Dh's snoring irritates the hell out of me.
That plus his ability to fall asleep 30 sec after closing his eyes makes it hard not to hit him at night

Last night I said "SNORING!" three times to him, but he started back up within a minute each time. I gave up and moved into my college daughter's empty bedroom. Ugh. How come I have to be the one to leave my cozy bed? I am so sick of his snoring!

The worst is when the power is out and the house is totally silent, except for snoring dh

I would leave him there. I used to wake up DH and tell him to go to bed and he would get MAD at me for waking him up! So now if I see that he's sleeping in his chair, I just go ahead and let the man be. FWIW, he has a CPAP and doesn't sleep very soundly without it now that he's used to it.

I finally get up and go hop in bed with one of our girls. It's super irritating! I have been telling him for years to talk to the Dr about this. But he doesn't. He finally just started getting well exams a few years ago so a least that's a step in the right direction!

Some years ago a neighbor of mine, who I didn't know, her husband went to get the surgery for snoring and died on the table. If your husband doesn't want to try the CPAP machine, then he needs to get his own bedroom.

He probably has sleep apnea which is very dangerous. I think you need to have a heart to heart talk with him about this. My husband uses a CPAP and so do I. My husband used to snore very loudly and stop breathing. He would thrash about and was very unsettled. I was sure that he had sleep apnea and he does. I am so much better also since using my machine for the past 5 yr. or so. I think sometimes we have a tendency to "laugh this off" with the snoring but it is very serious. Talk with him

Have a sleep study done. It could save his life.
But for tonight, let him sleep on the couch. Tomorrow is another day.

I quit letting my SO spend the night on work nights because of his snoring and restlessness. I told him he needs to get it checked out. I remember my ex would snore so bad that I wondered if hitting him with a bat would be considered abuse....I mean, there would probably be women on the jury that would understand my pain.

Its not something that we can control. I know that doesn't make it easier to live with, but there it is ETA - I don't have sleep apnea so thats not always the answer

I feel your pain. Mine recently started snoring and I think he has apnea but refuses to get a sleep study. I would lay awake listening to him snore and then stop breathing...so now I wear earplugs to bed.

I gave up after 3 years of marriage - DH always falls asleep on the couch. And I'd be up at 2 or 3am, and go down and shake him and send him to bed. I gave up. If he wants to sleep there, then have at it!
He snores to wake the dead too.
He usually gets himself upstairs at some point in the night (after I'm sound asleep), but on the weekends he tends to stay on the couch.
I'm in no way fussed or bothered by it, and definitely not feeling guilty! LOL

But I only get 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night and since our toddler still wakes up those hours aren't even a solid 5 hours. So it just irritates me to no end that I get 1 1/2 of sleep and then deal with the baby and then lay there listening to him snore for another 1/2 hour before I either fall back asleep or move to another room. I'm just perpetually exhausted and cranky so I have a short fuse for this!!!

Recently he had a stress test due to a bad EKG that they did during his well visit. He bitched and moaned for days about how he was going to cancel the test, didn't want to go to the DR, blah blah blah. Then the test came back great and he was pissed he did it. So while I can talk about it until I am blue in the face he won't go.

You wouldn't be the first! I gave up sleeping full time in the same room/bed with my husband some time ago. First it was the snoring. He lost weight and the snoring got better, so I "moved back in" so to speak. Then the restless legs that started kicking the crap out of me was joined with the fighting in his sleep so I was warding off blows some nights. When I got to the point I was laying on the farthest edge of our queen size bed as I could get and a tight coil of nerves all night long, I finally gave up. Our daughter was in college by then leaving her bed open a great deal of the time.
I miss sleeping with him but I enjoy sleeping well more.

I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't mind my husband's snoring. He can sound like a buzz saw. I like hearing him next to me and would hate silence. But I will confess I sleep like a log and nothing much would keep me awake when I am tired.

I was close to my breaking point when DH's friends told him he snored as loud as a freight train when they were all on a snowmobile trip together and he finally listened. My next step was going to be calling our clinic and leaving a message for his Dr. Of DH's five closest friends, four of them sleep with CPAPs now (and the 5th one probably needs to get tested but won't go in) so they knew what they were talking about!

His snoring robs me of very valuable sleep nightly, and with a full time job, a house, 3 kids to care for, etc... - I need my precious sleep!

I usually let my dh go up to bed before me, so he has time to fall asleep before I come in. Once he's asleep he doesnt wake up easily
and for those who are light sleepers - earplugs are your friend!

I feel your pain. I finally got my hubby to go for a sleep study last month. One night he went to bed before me and started snoring. I recorded him on my phone as I walked from our living room to our bedroom. It was bad. I then called before his next appointment with our doctor to have the doctor ask. It worked. He got his CPAP last week and is already feeling better rested when he wakes.

What earplugs do you recommend? I got some for my daughter who is in college and lives in the dorm (she has a lot of trouble sleeping because her roommate snores pretty loudly). The ones I got didn't work for her at all. I tried one too (Macky's silicone) and it didn't work for me either. Maybe we aren't putting them in our ears correctly?

I have told him about his sleeping patterns and how I think he has sleep apnea but he shrugs it off. He wakes up tired. I can't force him but I can carry plenty of life insurance!
