Happy Thursday Pokey folks! I'm starting to catch up around here. The tree is decorated and makes me so happy. I don't think I've ever purchased an ornament, they were all gifts over the last 30 years. So decorating the tree is a trip down memory lane, remembering fun times and wonderful people. There's a story behind each ornament. The candy train is on the kitchen table--when we first got married, my SIL sent us the cutest little train with four cars. We always fill it with hershey kisses. It's really cute and a free pass for eating kisses through Christmas. When my son was little, he'd manage to crash it every year, so it's been glued back together many times. My daughter came home yesterday, so I'm feeling much more in the mood for the holidays. This is probably the last long holiday she'll spend with us for a while since she graduates and starts a new job in Atlanta in May. I'm so happy she's home. I'm slowly catching up with my work projects, so I don't feel quite as stressed. My SIL's dissertation is coming along. Even with my 35 years of writing and editing, I'm finding out new things about Word with this one. sarahyoo72 I'm glad everything went well. Heal well, and take some time to rest and relax and enjoy the season. nylene I hope that you can get the TMJ under control soon now that you know what it is. I never would have guessed that it would be a jaw problem when your ear hurts so much. I wish you could teach me how to use my machine -- your mother was very smart! Wouldn't it be fun to have some pokey pea sewing and scrapping time together? I'd love that!!! knutschen Many congratulations to you and your fiancee on your upcoming wedding! What a happy time scrapincin I'm so glad the afib is under control and that you're feeling better. That's really great news! LisaDV I understand the need for stepstools and grabbers. My DH is over 6' tall and always puts things out of my reach. He rearranged a cabinet in the kitchen so I can't reach the dinner plates--I'm going to ban him from changing anything in there. Our cabinets are already set too high on the wall and I can only reach the first shelf. It's wicked annoying. ETA: Ha Ha, did I say work was under control? One of my customers just called and needs a major edit to a manual by January 8th. Oh well, it was good for the day it lasted.

Maryann, you are taking this rather well I should say! Hope all Pokeys are well this Thursday morning. Quote for the Day: "We are not put on this earth to see through one another, but to see one another through." Author: UnknownI thought this quote really summed up the way I feel about the wonderful ladies here on the Pokey thread. This is such a nice place to visit everyday. Be well and happy throughout the day.

Hello all you sweet Pokeys. I'm with maribeth when she says she loves to come to this thread. You are all so kind and caring. It's just a great way to get a lift every day. maribeth, keep the quotes coming when you have time. They are wonderful! Are you to a point you can just relax and enjoy Christmas, or do you still have things you need to do? I an sending you a peamail. maryannscraps, I love that your ornaments are all gifts. We bought (or made) a new ornament for each of our children each year. When they married we wrapped up their ornaments up and gave them to them for Christmas. So as I put on my ornaments I remember what we got for the kids that year. It sounds like you have lots of editing to do. I can't believe you are not really stressed. I hope you can enjoy Christmas and still get everything done. Enjoy your daughter while she's home. I hope she will be able to return home for Christmas every year. sarahyoo72, I am glad to know that your surgery is over and that you are doing well. Is it fun having your mum there with you? I'm sure she will take good care of you. kellyr21, does it feel more like Christmas with your tree up? My house feels festive with the tree. Do you spend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with your parents or Ron's? scrapincin, today I feel like I am really on the mend. I ran some errands and came home and was not even huffing and puffing. I'm glad you are not so short of breath with your meds. I don't know how you stood that. Take it easy! Thanks for always being here! Today I am working on some Cricut cuts for a bulletin board at school. It's high up on the wall so I can't do it myself, but I offered to cut all the letters and get everything ready. Tomorrow is our last day of school until January. I am looking forward to having all the grandchildren home. We usually plan at least one over-nighter (lovingly called Grandma Camp by Samantha) here. I was afraid I wouldn't feel well enough to do it, but I've had 2 good days and I can tell I'm getting better. I so appreciate all your prayers. I know they really help. Take care of yourselves and check in when you can. It's so nice to "see" you all.

It's Friday Pokeys - YAY! I have a couple coming over tonight for a quick pizza dinner and so they can enjoy Holiday Home. Hubby's sister and her beau, one of his daughters and her grown children, and his son will be here tomorrow evening. Hubby is cooking the dinner for that get together. I thought I would share some more of my holiday photos. This is my quirky hall bathroom. Every year I do something different in the hall bathroom. Usually it is quirky. And this year well it my just be a bit wacky. Take a look! IMG_0542 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr IMG_0543 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr IMG_0545 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr a-photo-1 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr We purchase ornaments on all of our road trips, so I have a "trip tree" every year. This year I wanted to showcase our travels in one location, so I chose the hall bathroom for it this year. I have a Route 66 theme in our RV because we practically live on Route 66 here in Moriarty, NM. And as a child I traveled some of the last remnants of the Mother Road to and from SO CAL and Albuquerque every year. I always wrap all the artwork on our walls as presents, and I wrapped this one in the spirit of my other Route 66 memorabilia. I made the little drive in vignette, and when guests come over I have the Route 66 documentary video on the little TV. Along with ornaments I also purchase magnets from every where we go and those are displayed here as well. Hope these photos will bring a little bit of laughter to your day. This room is meant to be fun and bring back the kid in all of us. Have a wonderful day Pokeys.

maribeth, I love, love, love your bathroom. What fun to have a Route 66 theme. You'll have people off the street begging to use your bathroom, just to look around and enjoy it. You and your DH must be so much fun. Thanks for sharing this. You are amazing! Last day of school today and I got my bulletin board up with the help of Emily. She is the tallest of my girls and isn't afraid to stand on ladders. LOL! I look forward to next week when the grands will be out of school and may spend some time here doing fun Christmas things. Have a great weekend! I hope to check in before Monday, but have a good weekend anyway.

Happy Friday! I was a little pooped out today but it is a good tired. My dh and I got all 27 goody bags all done last night. It was some work because yesterday I had to make new tags because the others ones I made were too big. So I got those done and then later we had the assembly job. I did take some pictures and will post them this weekend. Ron said he enjoying delivering them to his coworkers and I know they appreciated it. He said he got stressed because he realized he was short three. Last night, I thought about telling him we should make a few extras just in case but I was so tired I just said oh, well. LOL
Now I hope to really get going on my cards. I only have a few to make so it should be ok. I usually like to use flowers on my cards but the only ones I like at Michaels they didn't have anymore. I bought so red tulle and got the idea to make a flower using it and it turned out cute. So I will be making a few for these cards.
Nylene- So happy you are feeling a little better and got to school today. I know you really missed being there. Yeah, I love having a Christmas tree up and it makes me feel Christmas-y. Not sure what our holiday plans are this year but we will probably have my mom over. We will go to my in-laws soon. They really decorate and I want to see all the lovely décor.
Maribeth- Wow! I would be hogging the bathroom up looking at all those interesting route 66 stuff. That was a great idea to make a "trip tree." Amazing! Enjoy your parties!
Waving hello to you all!

Good Saturday morning Pokeys I am a little late in posting. I had to make a last minute card for hubby's son gift money for tonight's party. Then I had to start baking my batches of cookies. I have to do fresh batches for each party, I just serve day old cookies - LOL. You and your DH must be so much fun. Nylene's comment about me an my hubby made me think of this Quote for the Day "Age is an attitude, not a number." Author: unknownI sure try. Sometimes I think my "child like behavior" is probably pretty irritating to most people, but I seem to get away with it around the holiday's. I think Christmas brings out the kid in everyone, and they can relate to me better then. Maybe that is why I love this season so much. I get to have big kids all around me during this time of year, and I LOVE IT!!!! Let's all play a little, and have some fun. Have a wonderful day Pokeys.

Good morning Pokeys Maribeth, that bathroom looks so much fun! I have struggled to decorate this year, DH and the kids did most of it. I did one tree and it wore me out. This year I really don't feel in the Christmas spirit. Nylene, its nice having Mum here. It's comforting having her around, and she's fussing over me like that only a Mama can. The cat is enjoying having someone else fuss over him. It's nice for her too, seeing as this is the first Christmas without Dad. Gives her a focus, and time with the grandkids who she doesn't get to see often. Kelly, so glad you got your treat bags done! Cindy, I'm so glad you are feeling so much better now x I'm healing up well, the 3 inch wound in my neck makes me look a little like Frankenstein's monster But my voice appears to be OK, which my 3 choral directors are most happy about, as there is a small chance of nerve damage to the vocal chords with the surgery. So they are relieved I will be back singing in the New Year

Good Sunday morning Pokeys I thought I would share a couple more Holiday Home photos with you today. IMG_0568 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr This is the Master Bedroom IMG_0570 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr A straighter shot of how I displayed the village house this year IMG_0559 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr A close up shot of a very treasured decoration (sorry for the quality of the photo, it was really hard to get a good shot with the lighting). I made this mountain (trying to get the look of the Mattherhorn at Disneyland), to display The Island of Misfit Toys ornaments I bought (mail order) from CVS pharmacy back in 1994. It was one of the first "our" decorations after hubby and I got married, so it is very important to us. Hope you enjoyed this little tour of Holiday Home. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday gatherings and doings. Have a great day!

Maribeth, your home decorations are so beautiful. I love the blues! Congrats on starting your blog and on entering the Stuck? challenge. I left you some love and posted on your blog, but just as I did, my Firefox locked up on me. It may have gone through and is awaiting acceptance by you. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to start a blog...and wouldn't know what to post anyway! LOL! It's fun to see you popping in with quotes and photos. Keep them coming.
Cindy! I wish I knew how to post a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign for you tomorrow. Since Imageshack now requires $, I don't know how to do it from another site. Just know we are all wishing you a happy birthday!
Sarah, I'm glad you are healing and that your voice will not be effected. Enjoy your mum while she is there. I'm sure being around your family will help her to be less lonely this first Christmas without your father. Those "firsts" are really hard. Hugs to you.
Kelly, please post photos or a page of your goodie bags. What a lot of work, but how nice of Ron to think of his colleagues. I'm sure your artistic touch made them just perfect.
I must get my cards off today and I still have to make fruit cake. I know lots of people hate fruit cake, but we all love my mom's recipe. I made 2 batches earlier in Dec. and gave them to my siblings. It's kind of like having a touch of mom back at Christmas.
I'll be back later. Take care of yourselves and stay warm. We are getting snow every day!

Here are some pics of the bags I made for my dh's job. I stamped some of the sentiments and other I printed from the computer. I loved using lots of scraps of various Christmas paper I have had for years too. Then I used curling ribbon on some and twine on the others. Sorry the pics aren't that great but you get the idea.

Ok now my regular post can begin. We had a nice weekend especially yesterday. I have been on a little hunt to find beautiful Christmas trees. Of course we had to go to my favorite golf course which is normally fabulous and see theirs. It was so tall and beautiful. Seems like red and gold are this year's colors. I did get lots of pics and I think all these trees will have to be blogged about. yeah! I finally got all the candy bags all done. Had a few extras to make last night. Ron was excited to share this with his coworkers. They have been having so much holiday treats and food. Such a sharing group of folks so it felt good to give to them. Now off to the cards. Hope to make some headway today. Nylene- HAPPY, HAPPY 48TH ANNIVERSARY! So happy for both of you. Wishing you many more years of joy and peace. So glad to hear you back up and moving. I know it felt great to be back doing things you enjoy. Have a great dinner tomorrow too. Yummy! Cindy- HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUU! What are you doing to celebrate? I hope you have a ball. Have you and your dgd been baking up a storm? Sarah- So glad you are on the mend now. Keep feeling better. Are you a singer? I loved singing and was in the choir all throughout junior high to college. I'm not a soloist but love music and enjoyed the choir. What type of music do you sing? Maribeh- Wow, look at that bedroom!!! You house and the decorations are so amazing! I see why folks want to visit. But I know you will be glad when you and your dh have the house all to yourselves. Great to hear you started a blog! How exciting. I am off to go visit. Congrats!!!

Hi everyone and Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! It is so kind of you all to wish me a happy birthday. No special plans that I am aware of. Kellie did my birthday dinner Saturday evening with Becly's family there also. She made my favorite meatloaf and a cherry pie! I am not much of a cake person.
Happy Anniversary Nylene! You got a prize and vice versa when you got Steve.
Maribeth-your bedroom photos were fabulous-I love the blues too. I will be checking out your blog in a little while-I am sure you will be a great blogger.
Sarah=so sorry to hear about your loss, and your surgery! I know having your mum here will take a ton off of your shoulders. How are the kids and the DH doping?
Kelly-those candy bags are so fun. What a great idea!
Well I baked today with Maggie and I am tuckered. On my feet all day. We will be baking again tomorrow too. Going to call it quits for now! I will be back later!

Good Morning Pokeys, it's Tuesday! It's 2:42 AM - I was up late (for me but not for normal people) baking my cookies for tonight's get-together with son and his family, got one batch done but then was sleepy so I have to finish the second batch this morning before I go to work. The cat and I slept on the couch (I don't like to bother hubby if he has already gone to bed, he wakes easily and then can't get back to sleep), and about 30 minutes ago the cat and I were startled awake by this horrible noise in our garage. It was this loud "banging" type noise. I have not completely figured it out yet, I think it must have something to do with the water softener, but I have never heard it before. Just call me chicken little, I am pretty much afraid of everything, so I thought sure we were gonna blow up or something. So, I am up, which is good, I needed to get an early start today. I thought I would share another photo of holiday home, and kellyr21 I too did a red a gold tree this year (will post tree photo soon). This is part of my kitchen display, this is two of those cube style cabinets which we have found come in really hand for storage in our small kitchen. I usually decorate the kitchen in a "chili pepper theme" as I live in the southwest, and I have gathered lots of chili pepper themed kitchen items throughout the year. My husbands family has traditionally always done Mexican food for the holiday get together's so my decor works well to go along with the food served as well. 1-1 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr I hope all the Pokeys have a great time today.

Hi Everyone, I know I'm way behind here. @sarah72, glad surgery went well. Hope you heal quickly. And so happy that there was no vocal damage. nylene , hope they can help you with the TMJ so you can enjoy the holiday. Congrats also on your anniversary!! maribeth , LOVE seeing all of your home decor!!!! Also loved the challenge layout! maryannscraps , hope you have a lovely time with your daughter. knutschen , Hope you and your new hubby had a great time yesterday. kellyr21 , Super cute tags on your candy bags. The contractors pulled out Friday for a 2week break. Hurrah. We made a 2 hour trip to Grand Rapids to see the Nutcracker on Saturday with sushi (my favorite) for lunch and was able to see a light display at their ball field. Unfortunately, I started getting a cold Saturday morning. So I was really useless the last 2 days. We bought a very slender artificial tree this year (it will go in my upstairs hall in future years) and put it up on Sunday. After seeing it wobble, I took off my favorite couple of ornaments but left the other couple of favorites (since it was so small I was only pulling out my favorites). The kids pulled off their favorite one as well. DH just laughed at us. We also had the nativity scene inside the house so it went up. That's it for our decorations this year. But it has made us happy. Especially having the nativity. Today I am getting more accomplished and feeling less tired and worn out - multivitamins, vitamin C, and airborne have been my staples since Saturday. Since I didn't have my craft desk put back in place and wouldn't have had the energy to do anything anyway, I created a digital 2-page layout in my down time. (that way I can say I did something productive - ha). These are photos from May 2014 which is also good to have crossed off the list. Good morning Pokeys (from one tired Pokey here) The last Christmas get together is in the books. The Holiday Home is now mine and hubby's all to ourselves. I may or may not be attending my hubby's daughter's party at her new home. Weather is a bit questionable and 1. I do not like to travel in inclement weather of any kind, 2. I think he thinks his ex-wife might show up, and that would probably not be a good thing, 3. If the weather is bad he does not like the idea of his dog being outside. So, I may be staying home, which would not hurt my feelings at all. Today I posting my second online sketch challenge. The sketch is from Sketchnscrap I posted this on my "unofficial" blog Keep Those MemoriesHere is the layout I created IMG_0594 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Today is the last workday of the week for me - FOUR DAYS OFF, and ditto for next week too. I am looking forward to making some projects during this time off. Have a wonderful day Pokeys - see you tomorrow.

Good afternoon Pokeys So sorry I am so late in posting today. No excuses. I have just had a very lovely relaxing day thus far. After all of the pre-holiday get together's it is always nice to just relax and enjoy Holiday Home in the luxury of my PJ's, and watching Christmas movies. It has been a great day. Today I am posting my third challenge. This one is for a challenge on Little Red Wagon. Good Morning Pokeys - Happy day after Christmas - did we all make it through the festivities?
I ate tooooo much. Hubby and I started a diet last year and he lost 70lbs and I lost 40lbs. We have been eating healthy all year long, but we agreed to splurge and eat the fun holiday foods. But after you start and stick with eating healthy, overindulging is extremely uncomfortable. I am glad that as of today we are back on our healthy eating. The food was fun, but I don't feel as well as I did when I was eating good foods.
It seems to be during the holiday season we are always counting down the days to something, now we start counting the days until the new year, and then we will even count the hours and minutes. That made me think of this Quote for the day
"Don't Count the days, make the days count" Muhammad Ali
Have a wonderful day Pokeys.

I made it thru the holiday! I was so far behind so I think I am caught up now. Our Christmas was very nice spent the day with family! Everyone seemed to enjoy the day. We had dinner at Becky's so the kids do not have to leave their new stuff. I was excited as I got Maggie her first cookbook! It was a Taste of Home sweets cookbook-cookies and I have to say Maggie's favorites as she has quite the sweet tooth! I wrote a special note inside! Bobby had a Star Wars Christmas. He was happy! I just enjoyed being with my family. I was going to scrap a page tonight but ended up making 2 sympathy cards for friends who lost loved ones. So I will scrap some happy pages tomorrow. Waving hi to one and all! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Maribeth love the quote. I apologize for being so far behind on my comments but I think I caught up. Be back later.
