My word this year is finish for multiple reasons:
1. After 9 years I am finished with my career in the Army 2. I want to start and finish a monthly weight loss program (Maybe if I take it month by month I will finish the whole year) 3. Work on finishing all of the WIPs around my house for quilting, sewing, and scrapbooking (I think I will make a monthly project) 4. Hopefully finish living in Georgia and the Army moving my husband somewhere else

I am still undecided for 2016.
My word for 2015 has been nurture. I've played along since 2008, though 2015 was my first year following Ali's class.

I chose Grateful for last year and did absolutely nothing with it. I signed up for Ali's class and didn't complete a single prompt. I'm thinking of using the same word again for this year. I need to focus on getting things done this year so I actually like the word "Do" but it bothers me how short the word is- haha. Debating signing up for this years class. Is it the same prompts year after year? Since I didn't do last years I should just use that since I paid for it but then I would feel like I was missing out with this years class I like the products she is offering but I have more than enough stuff in my stash so I will just use that. I want an acrylic word though except back to my feelings that "Do" looks too short!

My word this year is HOME. Home as in the place where I live and where I spend most of my time, and also home as in my family, the people I love. I really want to get my home sorted out this year, but I also want to focus on opening up my home to friends and entertaining more, even if my house doesn't always look the way I want it to. I want to decorate, declutter, simplify and make our home more comfortable and inviting.

I did Ali's class in 2013 and loved it. My word was MORE. I didn't sign up for the class the past 2 years but this year my chosen word was UP. I am looking forward to taking Ali's class again in 2016.

I finally figured out my word....UP. As in lighten UP, loosen UP, lift others UP, give UP things that don't bring me joy, let UP (not being so judgemental) get UP and move.
Now to find an esty store to have a necklace made with my word for 2016

My word this year is KINDNESS. I am typically kind to others, but not so much to myself, so this year I want to focus on being kinder to myself especially. Kindness was my word last year!! I choose it for mostly the same reasons you did.

I'm pretty confident that I'll go with "complete" this year. I am the queen of unfinished projects - not just crafty projects - I mean everything! I definitely need to make some changes in 2016.

OK. I have realized that I declared the word 'work' as my OLW too soon.
INTENTIONAL will be my word. I keep seeing it, thinking about it. Its painfully obvious that this is what my word needs to be. I need to be intentional.

I'm still deciding. The obvious first choice for me is balance. I'm a new mom to a 6 month old and I'm working full time. I'm 40 so I have had many years of selfish behaviors and steadfast ways. Finding balance is my struggle. But the word isn't inspiring me. It's actually feeling a little negative. I need to keep thinking.

I was having a hard time choosing just one word so think I'll have a few to take me through the year. My word for January is Light and I'll see what else speaks to me in a couple of months time.

Tidy up, eat up, dress up (I needed to sort out my closet and focus on clothes for myself and not just for my kids), cheer up, save up... I think it's a great word!

2015 my word was rise. I liked having a word to focus on and help me, but I've never taken Ali's class. I considered skipping this year on picking OLW but patience keeps coming up.
Patience with people (including myself) and new goals and budgets and life. Slow down.

2015 word was focus... I'm still waffling on 2016. I keep going to LIVE. one is for obvious reasons...I kind of want to live and be alive in 2016. But, also, I want to live life to its fullest. I want to try new things and be adventurous once I'm fully recovered. But, there are a few other words swimming around in my head as well including JOY, RELEASE and SIMPLIFY. I need a few more days.

I love your idea of focusing on one use of your word each month. I've had the word OPEN running through my head the past week or so, and your approach sounds perfect for it. Thanks for sharing.

My word is ENOUGH. I need to be kinder to myself and realize that I am good enough just as I am. I found this quote that I love (don't remember the author), but it's printed at my desk and on my phone.
I am enough. Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn't change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.
My story matters because I matter.

I, too, have been thinking about my word for the year. My word for 2015 could have been, unfortunately, "chaos", due to the divorce, move, etc. This year I'm mulling over several words (most already mentioned here): peace, joy, intentional, balance, open. I'll narrow it down sometime over the next few days.

I think my word for 2016 will be Hope. 2015 was a difficult year...after three years of fertility treatments, I finally fell pregnant but my son was stillborn. I've been finding it hard to see any kind of hope in the future, with yet more treatments on the horizon. But hope is so important to success so I need to live this word intentionally.
I'm seriously thinking about taking Ali's course this year - have people found it worthwhile?

megs78 I took her course this past year and it was really good! Not a whole lot of work but fun ways to keep your word visible. I've chosen a word each year since 2011 but darned if I can remember some years! Those where the years that I didn't do much with it, not even a single scrapbook page. So the class is good for that. That being said there were some months that I did 3 prompts in one. It's just how it worked for me.

I decided on a word. I ended up going with ALLOW rather than LIVE.
I need to allow myself to accept the way things are. I need to allow myself to feel the feelings that flood me and to express them as I see fit. I need to allow myself the permission to let go of things that would normally anger me. I think this is going to be important to me in 2016. I also look forward to see how it presents itself outside of myself.

I thought about my word for several days and finally settled on "DO," but I'm having the same issue with it being a short word. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I know it's the right word for me, though. I signed up for Ali's class last year and never did a single thing, but this year I'm going to DO it.

I hadn't picked a word(or words) yet, as nothing was feeling right.
Last year my "word"(sometimes it's a word, sometimes it's a few words) was "Whatever's meant to be, will be". My "word" came to me this evening... "Wandering along". This sums up what I am feeling. I am happy, I am content. But, have no real direction, path or destination, in which I am going. Just simply wandering along, seeing where life takes me and where my journey goes. One moment at a time. One day at a time. One chapter at a time. "Wandering along".

I did the class last year although not every prompt and I wasn't going to do this year as my word hadn't appeared yet. I'm not rejoining as the prompts don't change too much but my word did appear last week. It popped in there a day or two ago so it's "Forge" as in forge ahead, forge anew. I have a challenging year with studying for work ahead and I think it will remind me to hang in there and keep going. The creating something new will be worth the hard work.

I'm not even sure how to do this One Little Word project, but I just thought of a word and it totally inspires me.
Reduce.
I need to reduce my weight. Reduce the junk I eat.
Reduce my stress. Reduce the pressure on myself.
Reduce the amount of things I have. (see the great purge of 2016)
Reduce how much I spend.
Reduce the guilt I carry. Reduce my sadness.
Do I have to buy Ali's classes to do OLW? Can anyone give me an idea of how to do it?

Do I have to buy Ali's classes to do OLW? Can anyone give me an idea of how to do it? I've never taken Ali's class so hopefully someone can provide some info so you can decide if that's the way you want to go. The last time I chose a word I just used it as a theme in my month in review layouts and a thought in the back of my mind in my everyday life. My word that year was change and it turned out to be a fitting word as I had a death in the family, bought a property, was made redundant from my job, started a temporary contract which turned into a full time role, and met my partner. Keeping the idea of change in my mind while I was working on those monthly layouts made me more conscious of being open to change as the year progressed. Without knowing the prompts and discussions in Ali's class I don't feel like I missed out on anything by doing it alone. I think it's one of those projects you can adapt to make it work for you.

I think I am going with breathe, as I am working on asthma and anxiety issues. Plus it will also work with organizing (creating breathing room).
