Dh and DD left for Kansas City a bit ago. She is getting joint injections for her Juvenile Arthritis today. I have very little sick leave and dh is on summer break, so I didn't go. Mom guilt sucks. Here is my girl in a video done by the Arthritis Foundation where she talks about her Juvenile Arthritis. m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLyzVRP3R7jNt8amGyrIMvFwcVHJ_masRh&v=0pDCNha0-H8&index=6&feature=shareOn our trip to Colorado, she could barely walk at the end of each day. It is so hard to see my normally goofy, happy kid in so much pain. No kid should have to hurt this much. They will sedate her with nitrous, then aspirate (when possible) and inject both knees, both shoulders, her left hand, and as many fingers as they need on each hand. She has really bad swelling in these joints. Please see my other thread "300,000 kids in US & 10,000 in Canada have Juvenile Arthritis. It has links to info about Juvenile Arthritis. Thanks, Laura Mom to four goons

I'm sorry you can't be there. It probably bothers you more than it bothers her. I know when I missed events for my kids it was always worse for me than for them. That mommy guilt is a powerful emotion.
I hope the injections help ease her pain.

Sorry you can't be there! And I am so sorry that your girl has to go through all of this. Arthritis can be such an awful thing.

It sucks she has to go through all of that, especially without you there but at least she will have her dad there to comfort her. Honestly, it's probably harder on you than it is on her.

Ugh, how tough for you, especially when she asked you last night. Can you spoil her tonight when you're all back home together? Cuddle with her, have her tell you about it, etc.? Hugs to you both today.

I hope your daughter does well! My husband has had to miss when my daughter got her ear tubes as he had an important business trip. She understood completely! My husband felt guilty too, but knew that she was in good hands. It's so hard when moms and dads can't be there, but you know that she is in good hands with her dad. It probably bothers you more than her. That's how it was with my daughter/husband.

I was in a meeting this morning and just talked to dh. She didn't do well with the nitrous, so they gave her Versed. DH was booted of the procedure room to the waiting room and could hear her crying all the way in there. She is resting now. I hope that she is like I am with Versed and doesn't remember the procedure. Poor kid. She's a pretty tough cookie and her last injections were easy on her. I know how painful the shoulder injections are, so I think that's what is the game changer.

Laura, my prayers go out to your DD. Having a loving husband who has summers off is a blessing and mom guilt sucks but dad's love is strong too and he needs to be able to be there for her as much as you do. Little sick leave sucks rocks though. Please know she is in my prayers as this is an awful position to be in. Does she have rings on her fingers for support? I would find a picture if I knew where to look. RA sucks. My mom has it and it sucks!!! Love to your family!

Laura I hope the Versed works wonderfully for her too. If she has to do more injections or other proceedures, let them know that she needs the Versed each time. Hope they bring her some relief.

Laura,
As a RA sufferer myself, I know the pain as an adult. I can't imagine your daughter's situation and it hurts my heart to think about it. I'm sorry you can't be with her today. I know you want to be with her. I hope she tolerates today well, and gets relief. I hope you can hold her and pamper her tonight. Hang in there!

poor thing, as a 27 year old who has horrible arthritis I feel so bad for. I hope her injections give her some long lasting relief but from experience I know they dont last as long as we wish they did Your daughter is so courageous for getting the word out about this invisible condition, she is a rockstar. I hope she feels better soon

Hugs to you, Mom. Our daughter had a long-term severe pain issue and it was horrible watching her suffer. I'm sorry you couldn't go to support her today, but she knows you love her and she is lucky to have her dad there with her. I hope the treatments alleviate her pain!

I hope the injections bring your daughter some relief from her pain. It's so, so difficult as a parent to see your children hurting. Hugs to you, Mom.... you needn't feel guilty... I'm sure your daughter understands and she knows you love her.
